  1. There are several players who are and have played in the NFL who didn't play for D1 schools. Jerry Rice is the first name that comes to mind. I think he played for Mississippi Valley St or some school like that. I read about a player from Rhea Co that walked on at UT and didn't get a chance and could be the best punter in the nation at MTSU. Recruiting on the college level is a very inexact science. Most DI schools look at size and speed. Nick Reveiz walked on at UT and is now the Vols top linebacker. Its the size of the heart that many schools miss out on and that kid at Warren Co definitely gives his best every game.
  2. The Franklin Co Rebels travel the short distance to Tullahoma in one of the oldest and fiercest rivalries in Middle Tennessee in a key District 8AAA contest this Friday night. New head Coach Jim Carr is trying to rebuild the Rebels football program and the Rebels bring a 3-2 overall record and 1-1 district record into Wilkins Stadium. Franklin Co was picked by many so-called experts to finish near the bottom of District 8AAA, but a win over the Tullahoma Wildcats, would put the Rebels into a tie for first place in the district. The Tullahoma Wildcats are riding a 5 game winning streak and fresh from a 62-14 thumping of Warren Co in McMinnville. The Cats are 5-1 overall and 2-0 in District 8AAA. Last year it took 2 overtimes for the Cats to beat the Rebels in Winchester in a game where many people left and didn't get to witness the miracle comeback by Tullahoma. The long range forecast calls for great football weather with temperatures in the 60's at kick-off time which is 7pm. A capacity crowd is expected, but if you can't attend, you can listen to Scott and Binns on the internet at www.fantasyradio.com or Charter channel 6, the local channel on Charter cable tv.
  3. Thats a good point, but it takes two to tango and MAHS had to agree to play the game, so part of the blame goes to MAHS. In college, Austin Peay shouldn't have gone to Wisconsin either and etc.
  4. Thx for clearing that up. I wish someone from Warren Co had informed us of that number change. All we had was a Warren Co roster to work with during the game.
  5. I was really impressed with QB Jared Davis in the first half. He was more accurate than Peyton Manning and seemed really focused. Montrel Berry was unstoppable in the first half and the offensive line dominated. It was good to get a lot of the younger players in the game. Tullahoma hasn't had that luxury this season. I didn't see the highly touted lineman from Warren Co who commited to Duke today. He must have been up in N.Carolina. Jacob London and Cody Farr had great games on defense. So many kids played well, it would take a very long post to mention all of them. Franklin Co. comes to Tullahoma next Friday in a battle for first place in District 8AAA and after that the Cats get a much needed break with an open date before traveling to Shelbyville.
  6. Congratulations to Macon Co and my friend, Coach Mike Brown for the win over a 5-0 Smith Co team. Yall made me look good as I predicted on our sports talk show that Macon Co would upset Smith Co. It looks like Macon Co finally played 4 good quarters against a good football team. It looks like Macon Co football is on the way back to prominence.
  7. It was the younger Sheffield that scored the last td and he is a freshman.
  8. If Coffee Co gives the same effort they gave against Tullahoma, they will beat Lawrence Co I do believe. The Wildcats are still a strong team, but Coffee Co with a new offense that seems to be working well can score some points. The Red Raiders are coming off an open date and the starters are well rested and some players who have been banged up are back. This should be a good one.
  9. I guess Thrower is back at QB for the Pioneers. Why hasn't he been playing there all season? Tullahoma has scored 3 touchdowns in the 4th quarter in the last 2 games. The Cats are in good shape to play 4 quarters. They will fight til the end of the game. The Cats scored 42 on Cookeville. The loss last year to Warren Co cost Tullahoma a playoff spot, so I really think that Tullahoma will come to play. I really like the Pioneers football stadium and Warren Co always has good fan support. It could be a high scoring fun game to watch. If you can't come to the game, you can listen to Scott and Binns on 101.5FM, fantasyradio.com or charter channel 6. The 1 hour pregame show starts at 6pm and there is a scoreboard show after the game.
  10. Tullahoma travels to Warren Co Friday nite in the Cats 2nd straight road game. After an opening game loss to Blackman, the Cats have reeled off 4 straight wins. Warren Co scored 49 points in their win over White Co. Last year the Pioneers spoiled Tullahoma's homecoming with an upset of the Cats and Tullahoma will be looking for revenge. Warren Co may be playing their best football now and I'm sure the Pioneers will be ready to play. So far, the Cats have played their best football in the 4th quarter. The Cats will play hard to the end. I wouldn't think this would be a low scoring defensive game, as both offenses can score a bunch of points. It should be a fun game to watch.
  11. Congratulations to Macon Co and my good friend, Coach Mike Brown. Its always good to get that first win and hopefully get on a roll.
  12. I think Lincoln Co got off around 13-14 plays on their last drive. I'm sure the clock was kept on the field, but we had no way of knowing how much time was left, up in the pressbox. I'm not sure the Tullahoma coaches knew how much time was left. The clock malfunctioned all night. It was good to know that Trey Burks didn't injure his knee or tear a hamstring. If the Cats could win over Warren Co and Franklin Co without Burks and sit out the open date, he would be well rested for Shelbyville. I was somewhat surprised that the Rebels beat Lawrence Co and Columbia just clobbered Shelbyville. I'm relieved that game is over. First time ever to win at the "Pit". The O line played well and Montrel Berry is getting better. Its good to have Sheffield back. Tullahoma is the only undefeated team in District 8AAA play and we owe Warren Co from last season. The Pioneers scored 49 pts tonite, but gave up 48 to White Co. Our defense is a bend but don't break unit. I don't drink much anymore, but a little sip of Crown Royal is in store after beating Lincoln Co.
  13. There will be 2 stations coming from Tullahoma. I hope we can work out something.
  14. I hope you can find us some room in the pressbox, since there is a chance of T'storms.
  15. The Tullahoma Wildcats travel to Fayetteville, Tn Friday nite in the Cats first road game of the season. In my opinion, Lincoln Co could be one of the best teams in the state that hasn't won a game. I still think the Falcons have the toughest schedule of anyone. I don't think Tullahoma will go into this game with the same mentality as they did against Coffee Co. It looks like the Cats will have to be successful throwing the ball to beat the Falcons, but Tullahoma has been doing that very well. It could be a high scoring game. I was impressed with Lincoln Co scoring 28 pts on Riverdale. The long range forecast calls for possible thunder storms on Friday. How is the Falcons kicking game? Its always been fun tailgating with Lincoln Co fans in years past. If you can't attend, join Scott Shasteen and myself on 101.5 FM, www.fantasyradio.com or Charter channel 6 and listen to the live radio broadcast.
  16. One of the most exciting Coffee Pot games ever. I think Coffee Co got a little conservative in the second half and was playing not to lose, instead of playing to win. As much as I'm happy for Tullahoma for the Cats comeback win, I'm feel sad for Coach Nunley and his staff and players. They outplayed Tullahoma for almost 3 quarters. The Red Raiders have a lot to be proud of. They played their hearts out. Matt Farris was kicked out of the game in the first half, so he'll miss a game or two. Winning next week on the road for the first time this season will be hard to do against Lincoln Co at the Pit. Best crowd this season as both sides were filled and there were many people lined up along the fence.
  17. Come on Grundy Co and get that monkey off your back. Grundy Co 27 Oliver Springs 6
  18. I think this game is the most interesting game in our area. I do think it will be close. Giles Co can match Shelbyville's speed. Since its played at Shelbyville, the Golden Eagles 35 Giles Co 27.
  19. I know the Tullahoma players are sore from a very physical game against Columbia, but maybe the extra day of rest from playing on Thursday nite will help the players from Tullahoma. Coffee Co will be coming to Tullahoma with a good attitude after getting their first win over Warren Co in a big District 6AAA game. It's homecoming for Tullahoma and this could be the first time the Cats have hosted Coffee Co in a homecoming game. The Coffee Pot is at stake in what should be another exciting game between these two county rivals. Congratulations to Coach Nunley and the Red Raiders in the victory over the Pioneers, a team that beat the Cats last year. I hope Tullahoma doesn't have a letdown, but its hard to get up for every game. Since its the Coffee Pot game, I really think the Cats will be ready to play and I know Coffee Co will be ready.
  20. The same to you and the Blaze. Yall keep winning and it makes Tullahoma look better. Blackman still looks like the best team on our schedule. I don't think Mathers will run wild against Smyrna, but he'll get his yards and I hope the Blaze can win. I think the Blackman defense will need to win the game and you have the athletes on defense to stop Smyrna. Good luck and tell Jeff Mitchell that Binns said hello.
  21. Glad you enjoyed the broadcast down in Texas. I might have been more nervous if I had been listening on the radio or the internet. This Wildcat team has a chance to be one of those special teams that come along every now and then.
  22. There's no doubt Tullahoma is in the drivers seat to win the District 8AAA football championship for 2010. Two really good football teams. Tullahoma won the first half, Columbia won the second half and then the Cats scored on 4th and 15 and made the two pt conversion for the win after Columbia scored first in overtime. I think this is the most exciting game I've ever seen with Tullahoma winning and I've been following the Wildcats since 1962. A tough loss for Columbia, but the Lions showed what makes them a championship caliber team with their second half effort. I'm real proud of the coaches and especially the players for such a gutty performance. Tullahoma is now 2-1 on the season and 1-0 in district play. Its the Coffee Pot game next week at Wilkins stadium, so the Cats can't afford a let down. Even though its not a district game, its an inter-county rivalry and I'm sure Tullahoma will get Coffee Co's best effort. Columbia was ranked #2 in the state and with the game being on tv through out the midstate, the Cats got some good recognition and might be ranked next week. One of the Cats best players was injured in the first half, Jordan Sheffield, but all indications are that he will be ready to play next week.
  23. You might be able to watch the game on the internet. I had a friend who watched the 2nd half of the Alcoa-Maryville game on the internet.
  24. why were the parents so upset with the coaches? Who were the people involved?
  25. Does anyone think Tullahoma can beat Columbia Thursday nite? I think they have a chance. The Cats offense can score some points. the defense has gotten much better, but they need to work on special teams play, especially the kick return team. This game will be decided in the 4th quarter. I'm predicting Tullahoma to upset the Lions
