  1. What a great game to watch. Memphis' talent showed and the coaches did a great job of getting everyone in to see the action. Brett Russell TE for the West and a Memhis signee really dominated his end of the line. On one of Bell's runs Russell was down field opening up the way. He also had a couple of great catches. Way to go West Team.

  2. That makes alot of sense but let me add another note:

While playing in Munford last weekend they hit I think 4 HR's of course a father of ours added that thier fence is shorter then ours and those would have been caught at our school. I laughed and said, "Yeah and did you see the little man everytime we got up to bat crack the fence back so none of our balls could go over." It is amazing how people can make up excuses about everything.

  3. I dont know bout guys who are underated but i do know Will Hudgins from Ridgeway is OVERATED! I think the guy is a great athlete and yes he's good at everything he does but when we faced him the other night, he didnt show me ne thing special. With that said, he did strike out like evryone but like 4 outs, but, it was the first time all year we had seen someone with some heat. If we faced him a good bit we would have killed him. if you can't hit a upper 80's early 90's fastball then your not going to the next level for hitting thats for sure. His fastball is as straight as a level and has no movement. But i dont wanna sound like a hater cuz i wish i threw that hard but my ball would have some movement on it

Well you said it upper 80's to 90's fast ball is pretty good. The thing about it is you saw him three times and only 6 batters even touched the ball. One pitch away from a perfect game with the walk going 3-2. If it had been against a slack off team it wouldn't have meant anything but you guys are the State Champions. And if you can use the excuse that it is early in the season you have to admit someone who has been throwing for only a couple of weeks (had to wait for basketball to end) that was a darn good performance. Besides he is a football player just passing the time until August. I wish Ripley the best and hope they can keep the State Title in our part of the state. They played great against Ridgeway just had the error in the end. Great game and good luck this season.

  4. Will Hudgens from Ridgeway threw a no hitter against Ripley 2003 State Champions Monday night.

14 strike-outs with one walk in the 6th inning. His team helped with making 6 put outs from, catching fouls on the fence to routine ground outs. Way to go team.

  5. Back to the refs for a second, but since when were elbows to the stomach and a player making a fist and hit another player in the chest legal. Michael Rice of Ridgeway elbowed people all night, and their was one instance when he and Zak Boylan for North Side were fighting for a rebound and after the whistle Michael Rice made a fist and hit him. Ridgeway has very low sportsmanship. North Side is now done til after Christmas. They play in a Christmas tourney on Dec. 26 against Austin East and on Dec. 27 against Memphis Melrose.

All I have to say no is: WHO'S THE TEAM?

I guess everyone has their own perspective on the game. You were right about it being physical the refs never had control of the game as far as the elbowing but don't act like JNS wasn't right in their doing their share. As for Rice that play he went up for a rebound got grabbed and elbowed and returned the elbow that #11 had thrown then #11 (sorry don't know his name) returned one back with a few words and got a tech called. The game was one of the most excited and congratulations to Northside for lasting and pulling it out. They are a very good and physical team I wish them the best in the rest of the season.

Ridgeway will host a tournament after Christmas but I am not sure who all is playing.

  6. Thanks for all the responses I wasn't why Shelby County got left out. So now all I have to do is call the commercial appeal tell them to start covering about 100 more games so our boys can get recognized on the West Tennessee team.

The commercial barely mentions the so called area teams as it is. Well when the CA best of the preps list comes out in a couple of weeks I'll make sure and post it so our boys can get their names on here.

  7. The team covers all the teams west of the Tennessee River, but does not include Shelby County.

How can this team be called all West Tennessee and not include Shelby County? Doesn't make sense to me but then again I guess that Shelby County has enough good players to have their own team. Sounds like the ugly step sisters and Cinderalla Shelby County gets picked on by East Tenn., Middle Tenn., and now West Tenn.lol

  8. Ridgeway also won their game I'm not sure of the score but it was in overtime.

Tennessee is having a chance to show how strong our basketball is over Mississippi. There are some good games being played Raliegh Eqypt, Briarcrest, Bolivar, Martin Westview, Dyersburg, and Ridgeway for Tennessee are all playing Mississippi schools Oxford, Corinth, Lafayette, Ripley, and Itawamba. Games will continue this afternoon starting at 12:00 at Oxford High and Lafayette High. Good Luck to all Tennessee teams.

  9. Does anyone know who Wll Hudgens(Mephis Ridgeway) is being reruited by? Does anyone knnow what happened to Prince Cameron, Memphis Ridgeways runningback from last year?

Will is being recruited by Memphis, Ole Miss, Arkansas State, Mississippi State, these schools have made offers and are starting their home visits. Louisiana Tech, Kentucky, MTSU, Alabama are a few that are still in contact with him. Tn. has stated that they are not interested because they think he will go into Baseball (not going to happen).

He is going to wait until after his offical visits to make a decision. He list his top two teams as Ole Miss and Memphis.

  10. It was not that bad Ridgeway 70 Lawrence Co. 47 even though that is bad enough! It was a great Dunk though!

Ridgeway beat Carter in the 1st game 84-34. Niles #1 is a soph. Ridgeway is about 9 deep on the bench and if they can get Niles to play up to his body they will be great. He still has a little maturing to do. But he is going to dominate by the end of the season with Henning coaching him. Ridgeway mixed up the players alot during the 2nd game against Lawrence County so they looked alittle sloppy at times. I do have to say the most exciting part of the trip for Ridgeway was the girls games. They beat JCHS and fell short of Shelbyville by 10 I think.

    Enjoyed the trip great hospitality.

  11. I wasn't at the game I was in a nice warm gym watching basketball. I don't see how either team could sustain the cold weather for that one. It is one thing when you build up to the cold through the season but over night it has to be tough on the kids bodies to get use to that kind of cold. I mean it is like playing in the Superdome all season then going to play in the snow somewhere. Good luck to Hillsboro and congratulations to Melrose for a great season.
