  1. QUOTE(options86 @ Feb 18 2007 - 04:18 PM) 826377865[/snapback]Since JC is going to defend the refs, I will add something that I wasn't going to speak about. When one of CR girls got hit in open floor and lost balance and recovered(no foul) to only be clobbered and knocked to the ground(finally a foul). She told girl to at least wait when she is looking so she can defend herself - Case runs to her and screams in her face to SHUTUP!!! Of course the only thing that will come of this is maybe Case will not ref any CR games for a while and word will spread to other refs that CR complained and at the right time they will get hammered by the refs later. I don't blame the refs for the loss, we don't match up well with the loss of one of our players against some teams. JC is one of those teams. But hand checks were off the charts. CR was not the beneficiary of any good calls. Doesn't explain a 20 pt loss, but the team knows when the refs are not going to allow you to play and lets the other team do things that you are being called for. The team gets desperate to do things to try to change the game quick, and thats not their style. NEXT game please, this one is done.

If you strike it on purpose, without attempting to block the shot, and it interferes with the ball going in ... basket counts + "T". If you strike it while attempting to block a shot and it interferes with ball going in, basket counts ... other team has ball.

GovMan.....can you give a rule reference to back this up ?

  3. The Shelbyville mens team (2nd in the state last year) had two guys playing for them (Stewart and Twilley) that were not on the radar until their high school senior year. I don't know if they played AAU ball or not but I know it was their high school season that sealed the deal....not AAU. I have also noticed that teams that go deep into the tournaments get extra exposure and extra looks from college recruiters.

In no way am I saying AAU is not front and center for exposure to kids. But I am saying it is possible not to be an AAU 'stud' and still get looks during the high school season.

  4. Maybe they ought to let high schools choose if they want to use the shot clock on their home court or if they want to be in a league using a shot clock or not?

Phill, they already do this today. The TSSAA is made up of a board of directors and guess who they are....... you guessed it....The High Schools themselves...it is a self governing body. They (the Schools) could choose to put in a shot clock if they so choose but they have chosen not to.

Your points about equality, etc; lack merit. If the HS Mens game ever gets a shot clock...so will the women.

Just leave it alone. Don't ruin a perfectly good game.

  5. If I am not mistaken.... a study was done a few years ago and the average possession in a girls HS basketball game was around 20-25 seconds. Why put in a shot clock if MOST teams are already putting it up within 30 seconds? Leave the HS game alone.
