Wow! Just heard the news. What was the administration thinking? Something doesn't seem to add up. Of the three candidates listed in the paper's article you had two well qualified men in Tim Taylor and Steve Williams and both get passed over for a guy who's best work has been as a JV coach? Apparently the leak to the paper cost Coffee County a chance at a quality coach with quality experience. Taylor has found a way to be successful in both of his last stops as a head coach. To take Whitwell to the playoffs and take Marion County to the district runner-up would put him on par to do more in Coffee County than they've seen in a long time. Williams has quality head coaching experience (in baseball) and has been a coordinator in Rutherford County, in hands down the toughest region in 6A (ranked as one of the toughest regions in the nation) as well as his most recent stop in building a playoff program from the ground up. It would be one thing if Shelbyville has become a dominant program, but all they did with Davis was finish second to last in their district and get shut-out in their first round playoff game. I thought this would be a move that would turn the program around, but I guess they don't want to win. This may be a short-lived honeymoon.
Leak to newspaper cost us a coach, LOL. Williams is a very good coach that chose not to come. Whitwell playoffs under Taylor? I don't think so he was 1-9. Good luck Coach Davis we are proud to call you a Red Raider.

Congrats but remember he has not played yet.

Don't know much about this situation or Cookeville players as a whole, but CC has to have the biggest sore losers in the district. Fans complain and players pout when things do not go their way. Just ask some of the other teams they play like Tullahoma or Shelbyville!
We complained our way to the state tournament. HAHAHAHA

Coffee County is pretty close to South Pittsburg. South Pittsburg needs games. I think they have weeks 0,7 and 10 open. Does anyone know if Coffee needs games?
We dropped Lawrence and Bradley Central and picked up Marshall and Independence
-
The new coach should bring his own star player like Coach Price did.
Hope he does.
-
It's already closed. The deadline has passed to send in resumes.
That was quick only posted on Dec. 20

Coach Eddie Nunley resigned

Coffee Co. is not what I would call a 5a powerhouse, so the previous posters might have something.
Since we are 6-A I guess we are not a 5-A powerhouse. We lost Bradley Central and Lawrence Co. for 2011 and got Independence and Marshall County.
-
Dont waste your time South Pittsburg will not play Tullahoma because its not a easy win for SP
This might be the dumbest statements I've ever seen... Single A against 5-A wow you need to get a clue. I guess SP got all easy wins in those 5 state championships. Some people should stay off the T.

David O'Connor named head coach today.

Good win, but shelbyville is not the team of old by no means, lets not get too excited yet. Lincoln county will be a more accurate test. Good luck to the girls.
I did find out that we have beaten Shelbyville twice since 93. My bad but still a GREAT win. May not be Shelbyville of old but a HUGE confidence builder for this team. BE PROUD!!

The Coffee Co. Lady Raiders did something last night that they had not done since 1993. They defeated Shelbyville 51-41. Coffee County had not beaten Shelbyville at home, on the road or tournament play in at least 40 games.
Congrats to the Lady Raiders and Coach Muckle.
