  1. Yes...my friend...gave that up a while back.

Gonna be a great game...hope weather holds out.

Yes, it will be. Course you know how sensitive those tornados are to weather. Little change in temp and they just don't form up at all. Suspect, though, they'll be ready.

You coming over, since it's just in your backyard? I'll save ya seat in the pressbox.

  2. Cool.

Since you guys are new at this stuff, I'll just let you know that they don't take credit cards at the gate at these things.

And there is no valet parking.

I know that is what you guys are used to, but now at least you can prepare accordingly.

    Go Alcoee.

    Amen.

Well this ain't our first rodeo, been there a couple of times. True, it was the "boro", but can't be that much different. Don't need to worry about the valet parking, the limo drivers usually take care of those incidentals for us.

  3. Well, it is tough to keep those Grammy Winners and Rock Stars busy with the important stuff.

Ain't it so. Course we don't have our infamous helicopter pilot drying the field anymore, either!

    And keep Mr. Dunn happy.

  4. I left at the beginning of the 4th, but while I was there, Page never crossed midfield unless it was due to penalties and the muffed punt. CPA's defense is so hard to maintain a drive against.

Hate to call out a young guy who is trying and working hard, but later in the season, we cannot afford to have someone drop 4 catchable passes. Hopefully, he will get better. Weatherly's stats should have been even better than they were.

Was it my imagination, or did the refs mark off about 25-30yards on a roughing the passer penalty?

The refs mark off 20 yds against CPA on the penalty. Coach Martin called a time-out to discuss, but no change.

  5. Thank you from my family. Pam endured a lot over these last 35 years, but she never lost her faith. She's now healed and in the arms of her Lord.

We fuss and fight on here, just like siblings because we are all proud of our schools and have a respect for all the men and women who strap it on for us every game. Just like family, we rise up when there's a tragedy and show our respect for our fellow members. Ya'll are the best and thanks again.

  6. Met some very nice folks down at the brickyard tonite. The press box was just amazing and everyone treated us like family. I was surprised by the score, as well. Didn't think we would score as much. Ya'll keep working with the guys, they've got a good base to start from. Hope you can overcome some of the current injuries, as well. Thanks for all the great hospitality, class act.

  7. Look forward to getting meet all the 12 AAers on here. Lions got some holes to fill, especially at QB. The defense should be fine, just got to get the O to jell. If any of you can help, I need rosters for my stat program. I've left messages with the coach, but if there's a  school's web-site that has this years rosters, I'd appreciate it.

  8. I've been doing stats for CPA football since 1994. Couple of suggestions/observations.

    1. It takes two people, which neither should be a parent. One person spots and the other guy enters the info into the computer.

    2. Both should have a basic knowledge of the rules of the game. Punt yardage is counted from the line of scrimmage, not where the punter kicks the ball. It will help to know what are the results of penalties. Yardage, loss of down, stuff like that.

    3. Review the game by video and check to see if your "play by play" matches what exactly happens. Saturday morning.

    4. Use a stat internet site that allows easy entry and a place for players, coaches, parents and recruiters to see your "stuff".

Good example is "a site we can't list here at Coacht". Bad example is the Tennessean.

    5. Don't let parents do stats, I think I mentioned that before.

    6. Get a student involved, if at all possible.

    7. Review with other team's stat guy and see how the two of you compare. Most of the newspaper reporters do their own, another good place to compare.

    8. One tackle and maybe one assist per play. Gang tackling is tough, last two guys up get credit. See goal line stand.

    9. One guy in the stat group has final say, who had the tackle, was that a sack or rush, where did the interception return start and who "caused" the fumble.

    10. Be prepared to defend your decisions when a "concerned" parent calls. Blame the spotter!! Welcome their "concern", as one more set of eyes always helps.
