  1. Ripley will be athletic as always. I think they will run a more conventional offense than they have the last few years which should make them better. They won 61-0 over Memphis Northside but you have to take that with a grain of salt. The Rebs need to keep drives going. They stalled too many time agaisnt UC. Being at home should help them as well. Hopefully they bounce back.

  2. I read earlier on a post where somebody said Coach Jackson was telling everybody that we would run the table in the newspaper. Please find that article for me as I would love to see it. Coach Jackson has some peculiar ways I'll give you that. I think the biggest problem people have is that he is doing good things with the program at OC. People want them to win a couple of games of a year and not say anything so as not to upset the establishment. I've seen UC fans get on here and proclaim to really support the Rebels and hope they win all of there games except for one when the fact is your waiting to hear they lost so you can say "same old OC". Everybody that supports OC knew we would take our lumps this year. It was inevitable losing all the skill position players we lost. There are some good young kids in those positions but it's going to take time for them to develop. It could very well be a 3-7 or 4-6 season but that's just the way it is. I'll still be there supporting no matter what.

P.S. To Mandingo and lincoln- We were good enough to beat Covington we just didn't get it done. I believe the Trojans were 0-2 agaisnt the Chargers as well.

  3. I agree. You play your best hand and Fair is one who the Rebel team was able to do so well over the past two year. As for Parr, he would fit in to the NFL real well with his trash talkin. As the season went on and he faced more competition, his matched skill levels dropped some when he faced others who are just as good. Don't get me wrong, he is a good player but not complete...on and off the field. It was a great season for the Rebels for sure.

Yes you're right. A kid who has over 1000 yards receiving and 20 TD receptions skill level dropped some throughout the season. Get real!At least now the Rebels season is over and you can quit acting like your pulling for the Rebs.

  4. It is not just the coaches. Believe it or not, the defensive players made adjustments themselves during halftime of the Crockett game before the coaches got done meeting with each other. I'm sure the coaches made a few changes as well, but that is a sign of an experienced, mature defense with a chip on its shoulder if you ask me. Let's hope that chip remains there throughout the season!

As long as somebody is making them that's all that matters. I think last night was a great test for the Rebs. MC had a very balanced offense and a great scheme. I think they'll see alot of that type of offense down the stretch especially now that other teams have tape of it. They faced adversity when they trailed for the first time all season and they responded well. Overall they didn't play there best game of the year and still found a way to win. That will be great for there confidence the rest of the season.

  5. This is what everyone said about the milan game. I've bought in to the Hornets!

    Hornets get the upset

    SGC-24

    OC- 17

If SG holds the Rebels to 17 points I would be totally shocked. The least they've scored this year is 33 agaisnt Westview which has a solid D. After 6 games the Rebs are averaging 42 points a game. If SG is to pull the upset they will have to score at least that much. Like treefitty said I think this will be a close game in the first half and may be through out. OC's coaches have made great adjustments in the second half which has been the difference in a couple of wins this year. I think the Rebs will be fired up seeing it is homecoming and a chance to make history by being the first OC team to start 7-0. Hate I've got to miss it. Go Rebs!

  6. This is all beyond ridiculous. OC kicked two onside kicks. They recovered one and didn't the other. It was only the third quarter and the game was by no means decided. This was a 16-10 game at the half with Montgomery Central controlling the tempo of the game. They were trying to get separation and they were finally able to pull away. To say he knew he was going to win before he got there is just stupid. MC has a very good football team and gave the Rebs all they wanted for the most part. I bet all of you that bash Coach Jackson would be the first one in line to shake his hand if he was hired as your coach.

  7. Go powder your nose and relax, if you start crying over a little smack talk then you should

stay off of coach T. Kinda like Looser Leaves Town Match!!!!

I've never heard of a "looser" leave town match. Second, I've been a part of CoachT since before you even knew what it was so I don't think I'll go anywhere. None of my comments were directed at you so I'm not sure why you're even replying to my post.

  8. After reading some of the comments on here, it reminds me why I don't get on CoachT much anymore. Every year it's always somebody putting down the Rebels. UCGRAD whether you see it or not you do throw your little jabs at the Rebs. You can call it the "truth" or whatever you want to help you legitimize it. I still have yet to see any trash talk on here from OC fans on this thread. I've seen talk back and forth betwee a Milan fan who for whatever reason cares what OC is doing this year. And all this talk about who they have played is just ridiculous. It is not there fault that the teams that are normally successful are having down years. OC has been on the short end of those teams for years and it's about time the shoe is on the other foot. Nobody has said OC is a powerhouse. We have a great team who has a chance to do some special this year. Whether they go undefeated or lose the rest of there games, know this Rebel fan will be there backing them no matter what!

  9. Word out of Troy is that they should be much improved this season, with a good mixture of youth and experience, and a lot of team speed. A lot of enthusiasm is surrounding the baseball program right now and hopefully it will translate to wins on the field. The community has steppted up, forming a booster club and holding fundraisers so some of the facilities can be improved. Look forward to watching them this season.

I certainly hope so. This program has been down for several years now and it's about time for it to get back to respectability. I like the hiring of the young coaches as I think they needed a fresh approach. It won't be done in one season but hopefully they can get back to playing good sound fundamental baseball and winning some games.

  10. Thoughts on the season? ??

Offense was very good with a 2000 yard passer and a 1000 yard rusher. Defense was very inconsistent. We were a legitimate 7-3 team in my opinion, just couldn't close out a couple of games. Hopefully, with what we have coming back, those close losses will turn into wins next year. Already ready for it to begin!

  11. Did anybody else run into those Ripley fans that were parked behind the end zone talking trash as OC fans went by? Not kids but supposed adults. One woman was giving it back to them pretty good though. It was a tough pill to swallow losing last night, but that could be a great motivating factor in the off season. This will be the fourth year in Coach Jackson's system. The offense should be really good next year. They finished the year averaging 33 points a game which is outstanding. Like P&G said, find a defense and you've got a really good team next season.

  12. For yall that live in west tennessee. Westview does play in a quite hard district and a pretty hard schedule. They ended up playing Milan and Camden during the regular season, in which they beat Milan and came within 3 points of beating Camden. Westview now has to travel after going undefeated in the district. They have been put out of any hopes of getting to the championship and i dont understand why. Westview is a pretty stout team and has yet to peak. There only loses were to Mckenzie (quaterback for westview didnt play part of the first quarter and all of the 2nd quarter) they lost by 2 to mckenzie. They also lost to camden like i stated earlier by 3 and then third loss was to a 4A team out of Memphis (Trezevant). Why does know one have hope for Westview?

Just another case of this joke of a playoff system. Now winning your district means absolutely nothing. Westview is a very solid team who for lack of a better word got screwed over. I hope they make deep a run and silence everyone. Even though we are rivals I have a deep respect for the Westview program. Best of luck to you.

  13. I just hope the Rebels do NOT overlook the Tigers this Friday. From what has unfolded...this could play into Ripley's hands. If the Rebels come in over confident, things could go south. They need to play like they had never played this team. A different field, bus ride, weather is going to be very cold for all teams. Look for it to be around 38 to 41 at game time. good Luck Rebels.

The weather was cold when these teams met on Thursday night so that is not going to be a factor. The Rebels were actually better on the road with a 3-2 record this year so I don't see that being a factor either. Coach Jackson has said before that they are not good enough to overlook anybody and the kids really seem to buy into what he says so I don't see them being overconfident. I think the pressure is squarely on the shoulders of Ripley. They did not stop anything OC did the other night. The Rebel offense just needs to do what it does. Another solid effort by the defense and I feel good on the Rebels chances.

  14. The OC Rebels will have to muster up a repeat of their Week 10 effort to advance in the Class 4A Playoffs...

The Rebels will travel to Ripley to face a team that they just beat Thursday night in Troy by the score of 44-15....

The Rebels dominated the game in the second half by allowing only one Ripley first down and outscoring the Tigers 28-0...

The Rebels LaDevin Fair had a huge night rushing for 236 yards on 29 carries after being questionable for the game after a sternum injury he suffered in the Gibson County game a week earlier...The Rebs passing attack was on target as well as Trey Phipps passed for 186 yards on 16 for 24 passing...

The Rebs have a 2000 yard passer (Phipps is 162-261 for 2228 yards and 18 TDs..He has been picked 8 times) and a 1000 yard rusher (Fair has 1031 yards on 160 carries and 15 rushing TDs)..The Rebs also have 5 receivers with over 20 catches for over 260 yards...

Hey P&G got a question. Did it seem to you that Ripley's plays were slow developing? It seemed like between the time the ball was snapped and they handed off a lot of time elapsed. Also, I know they try to run crazy formations but they just don't have any substance with there offense. On pass plays they just seemed to throw it up and hope somebody would run under it. #81 dropped two or three sure TD's. It seemed like that was the only receiver he was looking for most of the night.
  15. OC wins in a big way over the #10 ranked Ripley Tigers 44-15. LaDevin Fair carried the ball 28 times for 247 yards and 2 TD's. Trey Phipps was 16-25 for 196 yards and 3 TD's with 1 INT. Ripley led 15-7 with a little over five minutes left in the second quarter. From that point on OC outscored them 37-0. Very impressive all around effort for the Rebels. Fair did go over the 1000 yard mark for the season. Congratulations to him. That makes back to back years with a 1000 yard back for OC. I don't know how many teams have a 2000 yard passer at QB and a 1000 yard running back but I don't imagine it's too many.

  16. Rebfan, please dont take that post as the true feelings of anyone from the Westview side. I have been a Westview supporter for 30+ years and was certainly there for every second of the game. The only questionable action on the field Friday night was the action coming from the officials. They made some calls that I think we might both agree could have been done without, not to mention the unending conferencing they did that prolonged the game. There was no unsportsmanlike conduct on either side. It was a hard fought game, and we are are pleased that we came away with a win. We respect your program and your players. Best of luck.

I didn't take that as a view from Westview as a whole at all. This person was on here last year saying the same kinds of things when these teams met. Most likely a kid or an extremely immature adult. We have tremendous respect for your program. We want to be where y'all are which is a solid program year in and out. Coach Jackson and his staff I believe are the right ones to get us there. We have come a long way from those two 0-10 seasons. With a lot of our starters being underclassmen I think the best is yet to come from this group. Best of luck to the Chargers as well.

  17. ha im tired of all of you obion fans making excuses like yall always do. What i heard in the game is that yall all play cheap....tell me how does the kicker get hit right after he kicks the ball off??...sounds like yall are just out to hurt whoever the best player on the other team is which is real sportsmanship let me tell you.....just get over it Westview beat yall just like i said and move on please :roflol:

If I didn't know any better I would think this is WesCharge. I would probably be offended if this come from anybody but a 12 year old. Seeing as several times OC players picked up Haddad after a tackle and both players slapped each others helmets I don't think there was any unsportrsmanship from either team. Then again I don't know why I'm reasoning with someone like you.

  18. I knew OC had a very good offense and it shows. I thought there were a few questionable hits on #8, especially on kick offs (when he was the kicker/not the kick returner). WV had a 112 yards in penalties, OC had 45.

OC has a good squad and is definitely on the uptick. If they win out and get in, someone who doesn't play them will have fits with their passing game. Pretty accurate for a high school QB. But if #21 doesn't touch the ball more, some team will shut you down. He is a beast. Good luck to OC the rest of the way.

I thought he got enough touches. Westview did an excellent job of spying him and limiting what he could do. He is a beast though. Good luck to Westview as well.

  19. Chemistry is not an issue. I'm not sure where you get that. They all play very well together. The biggest thing tonight in my opinion was field position. Westview excels in special teams and always have. They made OC start from the twenty on most drives and Spencer did a wonderful job of punting. Also Westviews run defense was outstanding. I think La Devin only had 26 yards rushing. They did an excellent job of spying him all night. Trey had over 300 yards passing but threw 54 passes completing 33 of them. Coach Jackson said that was the most passes he's had a QB throw. I was happy to see the Rebs walk off the field with there heads up. They had nothing to be ashamed about. It was a very well played and clean game on both sides.

  20. [someone posted this:

There is no local team that can cover 6 receivers when a QB is as hot as Trey Phipps was Friday ,That is certainly true, since it is impossible to have 6 receivers in a legal pass play. Five ineligible offensive linemen plus the QB as the passer. Maybe we have in mind "Phipps to Phipps" or something like that.

He completed passes to so many different people it must've seemed like six.
