  1. 2003 Carl Adams World Class Wrestling Institute coming to Florida!! Before you say its too far.....read on!!! Now that the High School season is completed and the summer season is beginning, I˜d like to inform you of the Carl Adams World Class Wrestling camp that will be arriving this summer in Florida. We have been conducting wrestling camps for over 25 years and have coached over 18,000 wrestlers. Last year alone we had wrestlers from 38 different states attend our camp. In addition, in 2002 our campers won numerous state championships and four High School National Championships. This is a regional camp that will be focused on bringing wrestlers from the Southeastern United States and will be located in Lakeland, FL at Southeastern College (10 minutes from the Lakeland Center). The dates of the camp will be July 27-August 7th with three formats; 5-day for $390 , 7-day for $490 and 12 day camp for $825). Due to the nature of the camp and the Regional focus it will be conducted as an overnight camp. Commuter prices are available for local wrestlers. Please feel free to visit us at our very informative website for additional information and registration at www.carladams.com. you can also see our testimonials from past wrestlers, parents and coaches by going to www.carladams.com/Documents/testimonials.doc. I know that you and your kids have a lot of choices when it comes to camps, I wanted to point out a couple that I feel make us the best camp in the country. 1. Staff We have assembled a First-rate, Quality Staff for our wrestlers to get the best instruction possible in all the areas of wrestling. We have 4 Division-I coaches that will be part of our staff as well as numerous college mentors that are currently wrestling at the Division-I level. Given the broad regional backgrounds of our staff we will be attracting a lot of wrestlers from other states. We feel that is one of the big benefits of our camp. I˜d like to just highlight some of our staff˜s accomplishments. Carl Adams: Carl Adams is the Institute Director and Head Coach at Boston University. He has written three very popular books on wrestling technique and philosophy. He is also the inventor of the Wrestling Takedown Machine, wrestling's most innovative training device. His instructional video series is the most popular ever for the sport of wrestling. Over 100,000 are being studied nationwide. His camp structure, quality of staff and the implementation of his programs, has taken camp operations to a whole new level. In competition, Carl Adams was a four-time national champion, three-time undefeated Midlands Champion, three-time world team member. In 1975 National Mat News named him Middle Weight of the Decade. Nate Carr: Nate has been an assistant coach at West Virginia for 10 years. One of the best wrestlers ever to wrestler in NCAA, he has been involved with Carl˜s camps for over 15 year. His style of coaching and his power lectures make him a favorite among the kids. In competition, Nate was 3 Time NCAA Champion at Iowa State, 1988 Olympic Bronze Medallist, 2x Big Eight Champion, Good Will Games Champion, Pan American Gold Medal, World Cup Champion, 3 x U.S. National Champion, Selected to the National Wrestling Hall of Fame 2002. T.J. Jaworsky: T.J. is the Head Wrestling Coach at Davidson University. He was a 3x NCAA Champion for North Carolina University, 4 x Oklahoma State Champion, 4x U.S. National Team Member and M.V.W. at the NCAA Tournament. TJ˜s intensity and work with lighter weights is well known and he will be sharing with us the moves and techniques that helped him have some famous battles with Cary Kolat. Russ Cozart: Russ is the Head Coach at Brandon High School in Florida. His team has won numerous state titles and currently has the longest active winning streak in all of sports. He has also won 3 Masters World Championships in addition to being named National High School Coach of the Year on several occasions. He will share the skills and work ethic that has allowed his team to go undefeated in dual meets for the past 20 years. David Leonardo: David is a prime example of the benefits of the Progressive Learning System. Dave was a three-year camper at Carl Adams World-Class Wrestling Institute and later became a scholarship athlete and 2 year captain for the Boston University Terriers. Under the coaching of Carl Adams, Dave was a four-time conference finalist and two-time NCAA qualifier. Ranked nationally his senior year, Dave won the conference tournament and was voted MVP of the tournament. He capped his senior year by being awarded the John B. Simpson award, which Boston University grants to a senior athlete that personifies leadership. In addition, David was voted MVP of the BU wrestling team in 1997. David is a state champion who was first recognized by Carl while a camper at WCW. Earl Walker: Earl Walker is an assistant Coach at Boston University and has been a member of the Carl Adams World Class Wrestling Institute staff for 10 years. He has been trained in every aspect of the program and has actually been the program director of our 12 and 24-Day programs for the past five years. In competition, Walker had wrestled over 1200 matches before graduating from High School. His overall college record was 114-18-1. He was a former two-time Delaware State Champion and a High School National Champion. Walker was also the most decorated wrestler ever to attend Boston University. He was an NCAA All American, placing 3rd at the NCAA Tournament in 1994. He was a three-time NCAA qualifier and a two time college conference champion. 2. Progressive Learning System Our staff has all been trained in the Progressive Learning System and is focused on teaching kids the right way. We believe that how you teach is as important as what you teach and we spend considerable time making sure that each instructor is trained in our system. Our staff of wrestling experts has taken every aspect of wrestling and broken it down into different phases of learning. This system, developed by Carl Adams, is currently used by wrestling programs nationwide. Techniques from all three wrestling positions have been categorized and put into an effective instructional learning system that builds on itself. There is continuity and purpose throughout the entire system so wrestlers have a solid wrestling foundation for each one of the three wrestling positions. Through our system, young wrestlers shall understand powerful concepts that apply to many different situations. This system approach has been claimed our greatest differentiating factor. 3. Customized Instruction To begin with, students choose either our primary program or our intensive program. Then, following an initial evaluation, students are grouped according to their abilities. Please note: we recommend that students seeking to enroll in an intensive program have at least two years of wrestling experience. (please visit our website to get more details on our intensive and primary programs) All students will receive instruction in four areas of wrestling: Takedowns Riding and Pinning Escapes and Reversals Leg Wrestling Our Progressive Learning System enables each student to fully absorb what we teach and ensures that students master and build on each lesson.
