1. QUOTE(PageMan @ May 14 2007 - 08:30 PM) 826459179Congratulations to the Giles Co. Bobcats for their win over Ezell-Harding. I believe the Regional Championship will be in Pulaski on Wednesday. I'll be there for the rematch of the District Championship.

Look forward to seeing you Pageman should be a great game.

  2. QUOTE(imno1uno @ May 10 2007 - 04:47 PM) 826456658"Classy" has not been brought up until now, because there have not been any need for that term to be used at any games I've seen in years in this district, region, or section by any coach, player, or the almighty fans in the stands. Like I stated before if the "adults" don't like the way their kid is being treated, MOVE ON! And as far as repect goes, I personally respect any and everyone who acts respectable to begin with. But once that person does not return the respect or abuses their authority, respect is no longer a valued thing. I guess there is a place where everyone agrees with every call, all parents are content to let things happen as they may, and coaches and their players are always on their best behavior, oh yeah and there are no green fields, blue skies, or muti-colored uniforms because the only colors allowed is black and white. Dream on. Maybe if respect was deserved by all, you and I would not be wasteing our time on the internet! I never said he was an angel, but Gary Lamm has done more for Loretto Baseball than most in the history of Loretto Baseball. I do respect him for that. And as for those folks that don't like what they see and hear at the ball park, Stay home and respect yourself.

I was just wondering how long has Loretto had baseball and who are some of the other coaches over the years? I go to ballgames to watch the games if i go and a coach, parent or fan make a fool out of themselves it takes away from what i was there for. When you have a coach that argues everytime a call goes against them soon the players feel like they are getting a raw deal everygame and soon after that the parents feel like all calls against them are umpires just trying to cheat their kid. A coach questioning a call from time to time is part of the game i know that but when it turns into 3 or 4 times a game thats more than most fans want.

  3. QUOTE(PageMan @ May 9 2007 - 10:40 PM) 826456061Loretto.............0..0..1....0..0..0....0.....1..4..0

    Marshall Co......0..0..0....2..0..0....X.....2..5..1

    Winning Pitcher - Cory Searls - 7 inn - 1 run - 0 ER - 4 hits - 2 K - 3 walks

    Losing Pitcher - Brock Glass - 5.67 inn - 2 runs - 2 ER - 5 hits - 1 K - 6 walks

    Relief Pitcher - Wesley Gobble - 0.33 inn - 0 runs - 0 ER - 0 hits - 1 K - 0 walks

Loretto's lone unearned run came in the top of the 3rd inn as with 2 outs Brady Kimbrel singled to left field and then it appeared that Luke Buttrum had grounded out to end the inning, but upon consultation of the umpires, the call was changed to safe as apparently the throw pulled the 1st baseman off the bag. The Lewisburg crowd complainly loudly and one spectator was ejected. The home plate umpire threatened to clear the stands, but Marshall Co. Coach Joe George was able to calm the crowd. Play was resumed with Kimbrel at 2nd and Buttrum at 1st with 2 outs. Wesley Gobble then singled to right center field to score Kimbrel.

Marshall Co. scored what would be the winning 2 runs in the bottom of the 4th inn as Judd Stoltz started it off with a single, but was put out on a 5-4 play on a ground ball hit by Colton Primm. Seth Lintz then doubled to right center which advanced Primm to 3rd. At that point, PR Neal Tatum came in for Primm at 3rd. Cory Searls then walked to load the bases. Seth Nance singled to left field which scored Tatum. Kellen Gower hit a ground ball to 2nd which put out Nance 4-6, but Lintz scored on the play to put Marshall ahead 2-1.

Marshall Pitcher Cory Searls held Loretto scoreless and hitless the remainder of the game as only 1 Loretto batter reached base on a walk. In the top of the 5th, Left Fielder Zach Cross made 2 great catches and SS Justin McQueen caught a pop fly for the final out. In the top of the 6th, Right Fielder Seth Lintz caught a fly ball and Searls struck out 2 batters as Loretto had a walk. In the top of the 7th. SS McQueen caught a pop fly for out 1 and then made 2 plays on ground balls to end the inning and game.

Marshall Co. travels to Pulaski tomorrow to face Giles Co. in the championship game or games. The first game starts at 4 PM, and if Marshall wins, the 2nd game will follow.

Loretto played well and it was the last game for their Seniors - Brock Glass, Wesley Gobble, Lucas Nunley, Zach Holt, Nick Quillen, and Luke Buttrum. Good luck in the future guys.

Was it the same umpires as Monday in Pulaski? Maybe the district needs to use another association next year at tournament time.

  4. QUOTE(imno1uno @ May 9 2007 - 06:49 AM) 826455162If anybody wants to see baseball and family at it's best, watch the Lamm family when the father (Gary/Loretto) and one of three sons (Paul/Springhill) face-off in a game. Both show how it should be done. Congrats to Loretto, God bless the Lamms and all the Loretto/Springhill baseball families.

You must be Gary Lamm himself or you have never watched Loretto play a game when they are behind. I have heard him tell a umpire not to bring his problems from home to the ballpark. How that umpire did not throw him out of the game i will never know. If this is what you mean by how it should be done you need to think again. I watched his son Mark come all the way from centerfield to homeplate and argue with the umpire during a game last year.

  5. QUOTE(wingman10 @ May 9 2007 - 06:22 AM) 826455151no parent should go onto the field

If a parent goes onto the field after a coach it don't matter which coach he should banned from the games the rest of the season. If you have a problem with the coach off the field and in private is where it should be handled not out in front of fans and players. Then you don't risk having it blown out of proportion.

  6. QUOTE(SuperSport @ May 8 2007 - 10:46 PM) 826455040Can these two teams meet and nothing happen? Really, I havent seen a clean game in years between these teams. If we want to talk about home-cooking, we could talk about every team left in this district tourne. Isn't that some of the point of home-field?

You say Miles is from Pulaski, but I guess you don't know how bad he loves to screw Giles Co. He's done it for years, and may be last night he had a "bad game".

As far as the parent goes, I wont say who because the player cant help what his parents do.

Let the games be played, and the winners and losers decided. In no game so far have the umpires completely changed the outcome of the game. Champions overcome controversy, losers dwell on it.

your right supersport Miles don't like Giles very well. Homecooking is why teams want home field advantage your right. If it were not for umpires Loretto would be undefeated every year to hear those people tell it.

  7. QUOTE(PageMan @ May 8 2007 - 03:15 PM) 826454610Thanks lorettobaseballfan. I'm beginning to get the picture now. The game was in Pulaski and the umps favored Giles - I guess there must have been some good food at the Hickory House after the game for the umpires. Seriously, I guess everyone makes mistakes, but I bet there won't be any "winging" to get on base in Lewisburg tonight. Any chance of the names of the umpires - just curious.

Plate umpire was Miles from Pulaski.

  8. QUOTE(baseball @ May 2 2007 - 07:16 PM) 8264503202 great games to start the tournament. Loser goes home! i could see the Visitors winning both games but my prediction is Loretto barely hanging on and Spring hill pulling off a upset sending the Pats home early.

I think Loretto and Page advance to next week. Good luck to all teams.

  9. QUOTE(GCBBCTS @ Apr 18 2007 - 10:52 AM) 826440264MARSHALL COUNTY 6-2

    GILES COUNTY 6-2

    LORETTO 5-3

    PAGE 4-4

    SPRING HILL 2-6

    LEWIS COUNTY 1-5

HOW WILL THIS DISTRICT SHAPE UP AFTER NEXT WEEK?

I can see a 3 way tie for first. What is the tie breaker?

  10. QUOTE(superironout @ Apr 18 2007 - 04:29 PM) 826440519OK Marshall has Giles County coming up next week, tell us your thoughts on these two games and the district.

I think they will split the 2 games next week.

  11. Umpires make mistakes and i can live with that. But i have overheard some of them talking some don't care if they get calls right or not it's just about the MONEY! those are the one's that make all umpires look bad. Those are the ones that hate an extra inning game because extra innings don't pay extra money. I have heard umpires say strikes equal outs outs equal innings and innings equal games. So not all umpires are bad but those like the ones i just described make all look bad.

  12. Interesting that everyone split in the 1st week of district play - I don't think I've ever seen the district all tied at 1-1. I wonder if the home-field advantage held in all the games? Marshall Co., Loretto, & Spring Hill are playing in the Riverdale Warrior Classic starting today (Thurs, March 29) thru possibly Sunday if they win their pools. I wonder how these weekend games will affect their play in Monday's district games of Loretto at Page, Lewis Co. at Marshall Co., and Giles Co. at Spring Hill and then back-to-back on Tuesday?

[/quote Home field did not hold in every game Loretto beat Giles Co. in Pulaski and Giles beat Loretto in Loretto. oddly enough the score was the same both nights.

  13. QUOTE(pops7 @ Mar 19 2007 - 11:12 PM) 826418128Maybe I am old school, but when a team host a tournament and teams travel to play in this tournament..... don't you think that the host team would yeild to the visiting teams and allow them to play on the "best" fields? Apparently, Loretto feels that they are due the privilege of playing on the best field, in spite of teams traveling to their town to play. don't think this shows much class but I might be in the minority..... anyone else have any thoughts???

Loretto is not known for having much class it all starts with the coach.

  14. QUOTE(tcross @ Mar 11 2007 - 11:35 AM) 826408036Dont hide behind the username!! Direct your comments and questions to me in person please!! 15. QUOTE(tcross @ Mar 11 2007 - 12:45 AM) 826407770Since you know me then reveal yourself to me the next time im at a basketball game!! Yep I coach football and basketball!! 16. QUOTE(Chi @ Mar 10 2007 - 11:34 PM) 826407708Mreverything and friend......usually I dont post about individuals but when I see people downgrading a kid with great talent and trying to intimidate them because they're gifted in more than one sport, it makes me mad. You talk about a team, a team is only as strong as its weakest link. You asked tcross how many games he has went to....answer this.....How many colleges are you recruiting for? What makes your opinion matter so much? As for baseball knowledge, I have a brother who has played in the major leagues for the Phillies and AAA Braves, and Mets. He saw Ralph Garrett play and saw great potential in him and a few others on the team. As far as the next level, how many Giles County baseball players have the coaches gotten to the next level? He is punished for being respectful, church going, and honest!!! But no weapon formed against Him shall prosper!!! Personally, I would love to have a team full of Ralph Garrett's! And to Ralph, if you are reading this....Make your haters your motivators! The best thing you can do is be successful in everything you do and it is like a heap of coals poured on their heads! God Bless you and play ball!!!

I have nothing against Ralph all this started over a statement that tcross made that he would play at next level. My opinon is he will not play baseball at the next level. Now any problems between him and the coach i can't help i made my comments based on ability i have seen.
