  1. In Goodpastures' defense, the entire school was already out on Thanksgiving break and many had left town. However Lipscomb did a great job. The difference with this team and any I've seen the last few years was the QB. This kid is good. Cougars never had a problem defending Flatt either through the air or on the ground. Elrod really made a difference. Great job! Keep the title in the region.
  2. First of all, Boyd is single A and Lipscomb is AA, so they will NOT play each other in the playoffs. Secondly, if Coach Martin is so bad why has he won three state championships (with a runner-up and semi final finish) in his lasr 5 AA years? Why has he won 4 in a row over Lipscomp without a collrge signee? What does that say about coach Mac? The truth is both coaches are very good and good people as well. Give them a break. I may not like Lipscomb, but they have one of the best lines I have seen in many years. There lack of blazing speed and game breakers may be their downfall. Remember Tyner is awesome this year. Looks like a great playoff awaits. Good luck to all the kids.

    GOODPASTURE VS BBA

Please understand that comments like that do nothing but show your lack of knowledge of this sport. I have followed closely Coach Martin for the last 8 years. How many times could he have flirted with 100 points? Many. I know of many games that were 28-0 in the first quarter. Never did they score more than 56 and many times barely reached fourty. The starters know they are coming out in the second quarter, regardless. They might play one series in third. I would bet you his freshmen and sophomores average more playing time year in and year out than any team in the state. But it pays off because when they are juniors they are ready to compete because they have already played a lot of minutes. That is Coach Martin's way. A class act.
  4. Since 1995, Goodpasture 3 state titles, Lipscomb 0. It's the only stat that matters!
  5. I have watched GHS football for seven years now. I think they lose more scrimmages than they win. My son hated scrimmages because it usually meant one series and out. But youngsters always play for Cougars. That is why they reload with experience. For Coach Martin it's a ten week season that begins with week six. They are 27-2 the last three years after week five. so don't get too excited one way or another until then.
  6. All this week four national title contenders will duel it out at Vanderbilt's Hawkins Field. The East Cobb Yankees, Dulin Dodgers, Manatee Florida Tigers and Nashville Shoetiques will participate in double round robin play to prepare for their national tournaments. Play begins tonight and goes through Sunday. Shoetiques still hoping to get Hasaan Rasheed and Chase Eakes back from injuries. Will be a very stern test. If you want to see some great baseball, come to Vandy.
  7. Both Philip Thayer (shortstop) and James Ray (pitcher) play for The Shoetiques Baseball Club out of Nashville. They finished third in the AAU Nationals last year. Thayer has signed with WKU. Each player on the team will sign with someone by end of season. Eight signed so far.
