  1. Agree 4 classes would be the best. Never figured out ($$$$) why we have 5 football classes with 53 less football teams and 3 basketball classes. T$$AA create the rivalries again like they were in the 60's and 70's and $$$ will not be your issue.

All I hear is travel would be too much for 4 classes. It does not get much worse than it is now, if any. I think it would be better, as with smaller districts, teams would be able to play the local games, to save travel. Also would give options for the few far away games to be played on Friday and Saturday.

  2. Congrats to CAK. There are things like size, talent and height. Milan was not even close in those 3 areas. as I have said all year, this is not one of Milan's better teams. The west was down this year, as a whole. A few things, game was 7-0, Milan lost the ball on the kickoff. 9-0. Game over. Milan would never be able to catch up from 2 scores down. Horrible coaching call to throw a pass 2nd down and goal. Milan played the typical game they have played all year. Untimely penalties, fumbles. Have not played anyone good enough to take advantage of it. As I have said all year, Milan's pass defense is horrible. It showed. Milan actually over acheived getting the silver and should be happy to get it. CPA would have given CAK a better game, as they had more secondary size and talent. Milan could have gotten S. Gibson, Westview, Huntingdon, Ripley, Gibson County and Humboldt and put a team together and would not have beaten CAK. Coach Tucker had the same issues in the 80's with Brentwood and MUS. With CPA on the rise, Milan may not ever see the opportunity for another silver ball, until the alphabet schools move on.

  3. Agree B1. Just like in 03, when Milan showed Huntingdon everything they needed to work on, Huntingdon did that to Milan this year. Huntingdon went on to win AA that year. Hopefully Milan has one more win in them. I have said all year, Milan's pass defense is horrible. It has gotten better, much better. Still some lapses. Should Finch go to a corner, I personally would feel much better. Milan must eliminate the turnovers and the silly mental mistake penalties. It is obvoius CAK can score. Should Milan give them extra opportunities, it could get ugly. This is a young Milan team. Go back and read Coach Morris preseason comments. It took a while. This team is not the seasoned group with D1 players this year. It was possible for them to get here, every one knew that. They survived. Definite underdawgs. Should have shots to make it back for the next 2-3 years, along with CPA, Fairview, etc.. Should Milan win, would be over achieving. Otherwise the silver would is not a bad thing, for this young group. Just like Alcoa, CPA, Maryville, etc., Milan has one goal every season, win a gold! Tradition never graduates! Go dawgs!

  4. Now that you bring it up, I think of the 80's when Coach Tucker got put out almost every year by eithr brentwood or MUS. back then T$$AA said there was nothing wrong. Were they that ignorant, as they changed the rules. No telling how many gold balls Milan would have had from those teams.

Not to change the subject. Congrats dawgs!

  5. CPA scores on a Milan fumble, returned it 90 yards. Milan scores 7-7. CPA scores, then Milan 14 all. QB for CPA gets hurt, CPA limited to running the ball. Milan holds CPA to -9 yards the 2nd half, including a game winning safety, mid-way in the 4th. Both teams had 6 penalties. Milan had over 300 yards in offense, while CPA was limited to 132. Milan had field position the whole 2nd half and shot them selves in the foot all night. CPA was a good defensive team also. would like to see Finch and Wharton in a foot race. Man they were stride for stride all night. CPA had best defense Milan has seen all year.

  6. I think at this point, whoever you're playing, they are gonna be a pretty good football team.

I would say both CPA and Milan have played some quality teams with maybe

a slight edge to CPA, but the Dogs are playing at home so that may be a wash.

Milan should be at full strength injury wise and I hope CPA is likewise.

Should be a really good game!!!

Johnnie Hale Stadium, for those who don't know, is right in the middle of town.

Here's some info for the CPA fans.....best place to park is at the two banks across HWY 45 from the

stadium...Johnnie Hale, for those who don't know, is right in the middle of town.

Chow Wagon has great food, it's like an old fashion Dairy bar, nothing is cooked ahead of

time, one of the best Rueben's you will ever eat......no matter what your GPS tells you, get off

exit 80B in Jackson, it's the fastest way....if you're staying overnight, stay in Jackson!!!!

DO NOT SPEED when going through Medina!!!!!!!

Actually the best place to park for visiting fans is behind the visitors bleachers. You are less than 100 yards from your seat. Come into Milan, get on 79 east, turn in front of Sonic on to Baird. Go PAST the football field, just behind the 2nd second set of bleachers and there is a gate opening to ample parking. Less than 1/4 mile from Sonic total. Chow Wagon across the street little east of Sonic, Pizza Hut on down from that. Mcdonalds, Wendys, Lees Chcken, Burger King, the little red building just North of walmart has some fine BBQ, smoked turkey grilled chicken , ribs, salads, etc. all on Hwy 45 South end of Milan

  7. Thought Milan played their overall best game of the year. Offense was better. D begin to attack ball better, once Milan got a score. Even though the D made some big plays, still gave up some wide open passes. How do you let FVW score before 1/2. Saw Morris make some really good moves, when mistakes were about to happen. Milan still must fix secondary issues, eliminate mental mistakes, remain consistent & turnover free to advance from here. Good luck dawgs!

  8. Milan Milan Milan

..Milan will Sweep this game away..

Both Teams will give it all

But Milan will give it all they got so they could take a long

    happy trip back home!!

Milan Vs CAK in the State game!!

Don't know what games you been watching, but the secondary has been bad all year on 3rd & 4th down. Huntingdon, Westview x 2, SGC 1st time, Covington. Just throw it up on the right side or in the middle. 1st down!!! Don't get me wrong, hope it improves, but if Milan does not start getting their D off the field after 3rd and long, a beating is coming, just like the one Huntingdon gave Milan. You are now thru with the cupcakes in Tennessee. Only 8 teams left and all are capable. Milan's offense must begin to control the ball and keep the D off the field. Should Finch play on the right corner, huge improvement.

  9. That is going to be a HUGE key

If time of possesion is the key, Milan is beat. Very, very few games have they won time of possesion. Just like last night, Milan can not get off the feild, even on 3rd and long. This was a 7 point game with 3 min. left and WV had the ball. Milan had 2 pick 6's and the game ended, not as close as it was. Hopefully Milan coaches will soon realize the defense need Finch @ corner to stop some of the crazy 1st downs that are happening.Milan's offense is improving, but has to improve more. 14 stupid jr high penalties last night.

  10. It's not college, or NFL with numerous cameras everywhere to go back and look. We'll never know. Covington fans will say good, Milan will say no good. Personally from my view and angle, looked like he was down at the 2 1/2 yard line. The Jackson Sun reported he was down at the two yard line. According to a previous post from a Covington fan they have a picture...so who knows. Truth of it all, that play would NOT have won them the game. They would have kicked the ball back to Milan, who still had plenty of time on the clock, and a kicker with a 43 yard fg this season under his belt, or they would have tried an onside kick (which they did and were unsuccessful) and Milan got the ball on their 40 something yard line. Milan at that point was in clock burning mode, had they been tied, they would have gone into score mode.

It's Wednesday, time to move on and stop dwelling! Covington can try their revenge in Week 9 of the 2012 season.

FYI Milan has 2 cameras going on every play. One is HD and can zoom to see a fly on the field. He was down. Check the film

  11. Congrats to the dawgs and coaches. Covington was bigger and faster. Covington had well over 300 total yards to barely over 200 for Milan. Cov. had 13 1st downs to 11 for Milan. Cov. hurt themselves with penalties, a missed extra point and a couple of lost fumbles. Milan had no penalties and did botch a punt. Milan did a good job converting 3rd downs to keep the clock running and keep their D off the field. Passing game still needs extra overtime work. Kids did come out to play on both sides. Covington will be hard to handle in the playoffs.

  12. Overall team record is the 1st criteria used, so any win or loss will have an affect.

Milan has yet to defend the wing T very well. Ex, Huntingdon. If Milan plans on making a playoff run against any quality opponent, the time to start playing well, is now. So far it has not happened. Milan has some speed. Milan has good recievers and a quality QB. however, there sweems to be no timing between thm what so ever. same crew last year and the passing game was much better. Can't figure that out. The game will be won and lost at the line of scrimmage. many times Milan is getting beat at the point of attack. Pass defense is lacking and when corners get isolated vs the run, sometimes it is not pretty.

Covington is just what Milan needs, another quality test. Playing GC, Ripley, a now much improved Trenton and upcoming Haywood, does nothing to make you improve, except for future years, as you get young players time on the field. Not that that is Milan fault, they must play who they are told, in most cases.

  13. Huntingdon took Milan to the woodshed. Beat Milan in every phase of the game. Shut Milan completly down on offense, only 60 yards 2nd half, 9 1st downs for the game, 174 total yards. Pounded the ball against Milan's defense all night for 20 1st downs. If Milan has more depth, Milan sure did look wore out at the end of the game. I do remember a few years back, Milan beat Huntingdon, then Huntingdon learned a lot from that game and went on to win a championship. And the year before that the roles were reversed. So it is not the end of the world for Milan. Hopefully a learning experience. It showed to me once again Milans defense is not a good as people think. It has been the competition or lack of. Offensively with the talent that is there Milan should be able to pass the ball. There is no timing in the passing game what so ever. Congrats Huntingdon, you guys are a solid team and Warbritton, mr everything, is a beast.

  14. Milan has not played well all year. Too many silly penalties, turnovers, mental mistakes, etc. Milan has played a weak overall schedule up to this point. IF Milan had played Obion, who can pass the ball, Milan's defense would be exposed. Westview, who most all Westview fans were saying, had a QB, who could not pass, threw the ball on Milan all night. I am accustomed to Milan not playing well early in the year. Most of the time around game 7, things begin to click. I have not seen Milan play this inconsistent for this long, in many years. Do not be surprised if Huntingdon takes milan to the wood shed. And it might do them some good. With the speed of Finch and Belew, it seems as though they could play man on most any WR. "Revis Island". I hope when Milan resets their clocks, they realize the time is now. Good luck dogs.
