Don't put to much stock in those stars. Not long ago the Donald kid from Huntingdon was either a 4 or 5. How did those stars work out? More players than not would love to be rated with 2 stars, even 1. If I remember right J Fisher, T Teague, E Fields were all less than 3's. Most kids going to college do not even play there high school positions. So I would say most are predicitions at best. the reason you hear of walk ons getting scholarships after a year. Potential is nothing without the total effort.

As a general rule among the better coaches, success is based on the talent available to each coach. When 2 good coaches meet barring weather, etc. talent usually prevails. So the open systems with good coaches would naturally have an advantage.

Have a lot of respect for Mayfield, as they have proven them selves over the years. How ever I have also learned not to put much stock in Milan scrimmages. I have seen this many times in the past. Haywood gave Milan a similar pounding a few years ago. That year Milan had undefeated regular season and haywood did not win a game. Mayfield is a good program, but Milan uses scrimmages to check out players in different spots, put them in situations to see reactions, etc etc. And that usually continues till about week 7 or 8, and then the final decisions are made and it is time to get on with buisness. Now with all that said Mayfield might still pop Milan again at the end of the season, as they are a proven program. Both are, i think that is why they have the relationship they do. Not really concerned about Milan's future

Been watching Milan for many years. Typically, just like tonight, early in the year, Milan is checking players and spots out. Experimenting with what each can and can not do. Games usually show things that need to be worked on especially when you purposely test specific areas. Milan is not interested in winning pre season games, just getting better. Example I remember a few years ago Milan scrimmaged Haywood at Milan. I knew Milan was supposed to be pretty good. Didn't know a lot about Haywood. Haywood beat the crap out of Milan on the scoreboard, on the field, etc. When the regular season ended Milan was undefeated and haywood did not win a game. After that scrimmage I thought Haywood was awesome. Just an example

High expectations for this group. Season will not be a complete success with playing in December

A few favorites from the past. Bradford vs Gleason games. Players like jessica henson, Tonya Tuggles, Jodie Loynes, Danille Page, Brown, Lannom,Henson, etc vs Gleason with mcilhaney and many other names slip my mind. All of these games for years were decided by 10 points or less and usually one of those teams was in the state games and many times won it. Milan girls with carol smith & janet Nowell vs 2 twins from Martin. milan boys in 03, Bolivar boys recent years, come to mind. Obion county in the Cannon Whitby era, dyer County boys 01-03

Known as the guy that carried the bulldog flag at milan football & basketball games was stabbed to death today while being robbed. Sad day in Milan, as he was a fine christian man

Eric Volbert, former Milan girls coach took the job. EV took over a Milan girls program that had 1 win, then by hem time he left had a runner up state tourney silver ball. Went to asst Union men for a year came back to Milan, and now to Mckenzie. Feel he will lead Mck to the top of he district in a couple years. Getting to the point of competing with the teams in th region will be a large task. EV builds from the bottom up, so it will take time, but Mck has a great coach and a better person.

Around the football field in Milan is torn all to peices. Many trees in houses, cars, etc. Hwy 45 south also.

Did the hire take place

Livingston was very well coached as the kids were fundamentally sound. Liv. plays very smart basketball. Thought they had Milan beat. Milan had more athletes.
