no blood ....no foul....the refs get paid $12 per game....let'em play unless it gets out of hand..

I guess I am incorrect in my thinking then, that part of a refs job is to control the game when a players safety is involved. Also how do you get a kid to respect an officials call , when in one league the same official lets things go and in other games he doesn't. Is that not called consistency? From what I hear on this board a little consistency would not hurt in todays games.

I think Westview's gonna be a really good team this year. Although they did lose important seniors last year in Marcus Bright, Justin Harrell, Louis Davis, and Tyler Dotson, they have role-players in Marlon Bright, Jason Black, Andres Cedeno, and Ramarcus Booker. They are a young, fast team, but I think they will turn some heads this season. They have a large sophomore and freshmen class this year which will do some things in two or three years with a little experience.

Westview will be solid not great but solid. They will struggle with Dyer County, Obion, & Milan. Should beat Union city, Gibson county. Don't really have the rest of their schedule so it would be difficult tosay how many games they will win.

< For those who don't know me, I am Adam Vaughan from Greenfield. I play and I'm the captian for the basketball team. Coach Glisson was not on his way to school. He had finished up a individual camp earlier that day. which was July 19. He had an absece(spellcheck) tooth removed earlier in the week and was instructed by the dentist not to get hot or he would have some pain. For the pain (this is for you hcity) he had the pills PRESCRIBED to him. They were his pills and he had to intent to sell or distribute them in any way form or fashion. Coach understands what he did was wrong and he iis going to serve a 20 school day suspension starting monday. But the whole point of this is for you to get the facts straight before you make make a post like that.

I have a couple of questions. 1. When and what are his liscense suspended for? 2. Was he driving the bus this summer with players on it with a suspended liscense?

Not too many times have I ever wanted to leave a Humboldt football game to see another. Milan vs. Westview should prove to solidify what everyone in the state should know by now. Region 7-2A is the place you don't want to be. Milan, Union City, Humboldt, Martin Westview, Trenton Peabody, and Dresden. The top 4 more prevalent than the latter 2, you just can't get no better. I don't mean to shoot down Trenton and Dresden, because for sure they'll mess up your Cherios if you don't watch them.

Sideline you must have not have been at last weeks Milan game with HC as Rod Smith did not even play on offense the last half of the 2nd quarter and the whole last half. The person that will do Westview in if it happens is George West the QB.

A lot of people think that Martin is running ragged after graduating so many last year, but I have no doubt that Coach will have them going. If they are struggling like the rumor mill says, we'll soon see.

Milan, they got Rod. Run Rod Left, Run Rod Right, Run the fullback up the middle, then Run Rod Left, Run Rod Right, Kick an Extra Point, and then Kick Off. :D

    Milan 17 --- Westview 14

You are correct in that case. My whole ponit was using the assumption the team ahead was playing the second unit aginst the other teams starters. By the waym you have just received your first good mark with over 200 posts. I enjoy good sensable debate. Thanks and take care.

thanks DH for the mark. PS do you know Crystal I think it is. She is from Milan, but lives in Holenwald now I think. May have something to do with a tucking firm.

To say someone is running the score up on a program with a heritage like Milans is stretching things a bit. Plus, no matter how good you are, sometimes some really good coaches get soft a bit early. I know that most class programs don't want to run the score up or embarrass another program, their players and coaches but against a team that has good talent, you are taking a big chance.

This seems to be rambling but I do have a legitimate point here, I promise. It's sometimes difficult to no when to stop

If you are playing a team that is terribly inferior, you would normally have them smoked by halftime and that's different. A team like Milan is a different story.

Point in case, in a game last season between Lewis County and Moore County, we were up 41-13 with about 9 minutes left. Coach Sharp (very much a class coach) pulled the dogs off and Moore County scored two quick touchdowns on the second unit to get within 41-27. I hope this makes sense. I think some coaches do run the score up but it's not nearly, nearly as bad as I used to see many years ago.

It's just tough sometimes to get a real comfortable feeling when you are playing a team that could put 2 or 3 scores up real quick against a second unit/

Good point DH, but you do not leave the 1st unit on the field until the end of the game with a 3 or 4 touchdown lead against the losing teams 2nd unit. Milan was down last year and it remains to be seen how strong they are this year. They are better and will be strong for the next few years it appears, but Milan will be remembering last year, trust me.

Over 360 yards of offense is hardly sloppy.

Toss sweep was ran very well, and passing game

looked good with the exception of 3 dropped passes

that absolutely should have been caught....right side of o-line is strongest, and it showed...must do better in red zone, but overall not a bad opening game...only gonna get better...

Daylon dropped at least 4 passes I can remember, still had over 100 yards rcvg though, and also dropped 2 punts and caused Coach Morris to use an unforced timeout because he loafed back to the huddle after he dropped a pass. He would be better if he worked hard in practice every day. He has loads of talent but has a terible work ethic. That is why he is and will remain inconsistent until he grows up. He has time as he is a soph., but he better grow up quick for Milan to succeed in the playoffs. Milan improved and got the bugs out in the 2nd half and looked much better, but the 1st half was sloppy with several fumbles and dropped passes a shanked punt, and a missed FG. Played well in the 2nd even w/o Rod on offense. GO DAWGS

Who is the new coach @ Ch. CO??

    Whats his status/background

I know the team there had a tough year last year.

What can we expect from them in the comeing years?

I agree Cheatham was much improved from last year. I saw them play the last 2 years @ belmont.

Top 7 players should be Tyler Smith 6'6" wing and post , Shay Shannon 6'4" wing , Eric Howard 5'9" point , Allen Haney 5'10" wing , Travis Gentry 6'0" point and wing , Justin Morris 6'5" post and Tristen Flecter 6'4' post . These guys are athletes that can play .

did they have shay shannon @ belmont this summer when they played maplewood?

Who are some of the players that will have a big impact next year, that nobody is talking about? One I know of is John Ferguson from Portland. He is a 6'7" post player who averaged 17 pts 8 boards and shot around 72% from the field last season as a junior. He will be a four year starter for the panthers and is about as consistent as they come.

WesCharge: you seem to know about DC.....Im in East Tenn so Im not that up-to-date on upcoming talent. So you telling me with Crittendon & Fisk, who both can flat out bring it....don't know that much about Bird, but at 6'11, he gotta be able to do something......with any decent upcoming talent and the few returning which got some playing time last year, you dont think DC should make it back to State....who you think can stop them, definitely nobody in their district is close........?

DC is the team to beat in their district and probably their region. However Haywood and Fayette-ware loom large in the region. Montrelle and Brian are 2 of the best players in TN. Bird will cause problems defensively and will grab many rebounds and get stick back points. That is enough as brian and montrelle have the gren light. The other forward is solid and will score more than people think and is a decent rebounder. With bird and fisk though rebounds will be hard to come by as those 2 clean the boards well. The point guard is the key. DC will go as far as he can take them. Still young, musch improvedand will get plenty of TLC from Butch. In the substate is where the problem may be for DC to get back to the boro. Ridgeway, Raleigh-Egypt, BTW, etc are waiting and don't be suprised if the game is at the Mid south coliseum again.

  13. I would agree with sinjin and also would add that you are on the right track admitting and realizing where your weakness is. Sometimes you can do things against weaker opponents, that just will not work against certain styles of play. Again use your mind to find a way to win. Your skills will take care of their self with practice. " If you want to play develop your skills, if you want to win develop your mind."
