  1. Wes Roach better look in his rear view mirror ... because goodpasture's Joe David is up and comming and from what i hear he has a lot more talent and ability on the course than Roach could ever hope to have.... so knox-webb move over the champ is in town

Alot of pressure on your kid from Goodpasture. Roach won his state tournament (against a very tough field), so we'll have to see how your boy does. Good luck to him. Oh, and I don't guess you noticed Roach's 2nd place finish in the TGA State Amateur Championship either did you? If you think the field is tough in the state tournament, you should look at the field in a TGA State Amateur. There's just a little difference. :thumb:

  2. Green was the state champ as a sophomore...there's a big difference between state champ and district player of the year.

Agreed. I was district player of the year, but I never won state. They don't even compare. It takes a special player to win the state tournament, much less win it twice in a row. Congratulations Hunter. I enjoyed watching you play on Tuesday and Wednesday at Old Fort. Good luck next year!

  3. The conditions at TPC Sawgrass were harsh at best. The winds gusted up to 30 mph and most of the competition was scared to tee off. The round was nearly canceled because of the harsh conditions but they ended up playing. No score over 78 was posted, except one. Enter Brian Patton, 16, Webb School golfer, he shot 63. 15 strokes better than the competition. On a day where some pros would be intimidated BP assaulted the course. When his birdie putt on 18 sunk in dead center he removed his hat and gave a Tiger Woods fist pump. Next year Tennessee golf will be known as the Year of the Texas, nickname of Brian Patton. If you are a Tennessee golfer then you are basically in a fight for second, unless your name is Brian Patton.

Was he playing TW2006 on PS2?

  4. I would have to say that this year the best district in the state in AAA was district 7AAA. Siegel represented this district well at the state tournament shooting 604 and finishing third. Along with this, Andrew Brock shot 71-71 and finished third, and Jason Millard shot 71-72 and finished fourth. Also, at the region 4AAA tournament, Siegel won with a 300, and the individual scores were Andrew Brock 70, Jason Millard 70, Lexus Keoninh 71, and Matt Stephens 72. A player from Tullahoma, Tyler Bailey, shot 72 in his region tournament and didn't even make it to the state tournament! That's evidence that Distrist 7AAA and Region 4AAA had to be the toughest in the state (especially when you look at the scores from the other individuals getting to the state tournament). Oh, and it doesn't look to get any easier next year. Congrats to the Stars, Andrew, Jason, and all the players from District 7AAA on their performance in the state tournament!

  5. How bout siegel. They took down cookville in district and riverdale in regions. they could be a sleeper team with their knowledge of the course.

I hope so, but I don't know. I'm a big supporter of District 7AAA and Region 4AAA, but I don't know if the best teamfrom our region is represented in the state. Siegel played well Monday in the Region Tournament, and was the best that day, and I hope they play well in the State Tournament, but I wouldn't call them a sleeper team to win the state title. Clarksville is good enough that I just don't think a "sleeper" team could beat them. It's going to take a great couple of days to beat them, and I don't know if Siegel has two "great" days in them. Hopefully they can have a good tournament and represent our region well. Good luck Stars!

  6. Sad days for Riverdale Golf. Congrats to Jason Millard and Matt Stephens on getting to the state tournament. I would have to agree with you, Clarksville definitely, now, looks like the odds on favorite to win the title again.

  7. Knoxville Farragut has couple of girls that have already committed to SEC schools. I'm not sure of their names, but one is going to Ole Miss and the other to Mississippi State. At least this is what I heard. One of them shot 72 at the CEO Roundtable Invitational in McMinnville on a day when the lowest boys' score was 72. It was a tough course that day. She's got to be one of the best, if not THE best, in the state.

  8. First of all you need to get your facts straight riverdale shot 287 on a par 70 when jason millard carded a 63. and skip jones shot 79 which is out of 75 and also skip and their 5 player not for sure on his name noth have shot in the 80s at least 2 or 3 times this year and skip shot an 88 somewhere so before you place ridicule on others know your facts....oh wait forgot i am talking to a riverdale warrior.

Well, it seems you need to get some of your facts straight. Riverdale did shoot 287 when Millard carded a 63, but it was on a par 72 (Lebanon Country Club). They also shot 287 at Indian Hills (also par 72) and 287 at Stones River Country Club (par 71). The 287 at Indian Hills included a 71 by Stephens and a 72 by Millard, a 73 by Pierson, and a 73 by Barczy. The 281 was shot at Cookeville Country Club in the Early Bird Tournament against 21 other teams (par 70). Riverdale went to McMinnville last week and shot 325 (32 shots over their average), which shows they are beatable, but they are still one of the top teams in the state. There's an awful lot of talk about Riverdale, when there are several good teams in their district. What about Siegel, Cookeville, Lebanon, and the others? They have solid programs as well. Good luck to Riverdale, and to all of the other teams working toward the state tournament!

  9. This kid has it all. He is a first year starter for The Webb School. His raw talent is exceptional. All he needs is a coach to develop him. His most glaring needs are anger management and handling pressure on the course. He is sometimes erratic, shooting a 99 on Dead Horse Lake Golf Course but soon he will be the best. ALL I CAN SAY IS WES ROACH WHO????

Not possible. Nobody "has it all" and shoots 99. Sorry, but I ain't buying it.

  10. Where does Oneida play golf? practice I mean? Is there a golf course in Oneida? Being single A, if you guys can field 5 players that can play and finish 9 or 18 holes, I'd say you've got a shot at the state tournament, unless, that is, you have to play any "privates" along the way. Oh, and Zon, who really cares what you did last year?

  11. What about schools that don't recruit, for example Riverdale, Clarksville, and other public high schools. It speaks volumes about the players and coaches of these schools, since they can't recruit, and have to accept what comes their way through zoning lines. Thankfully, the TSSAA got wise and removed the "privates" from the divisions with the "publics," although I do believe that Riverdale, Clarksville, or Cookeville could play with any of these private schools.

  12. Jason Millard from Riverdale should definitely be considered when you talk about the best in the state. I don't know if you've been reading the papers, but he's been lighting it up! Here are hs scores over the past few weeks:

    Murfreesboro Invitational at Champion's Run - 68

Stan McNabb Invitational at Lakewood CC - 67

Early Bird Classic at Cookeville Country Club - 63

First match vs. Smyrna and LaVergne at Indian Hills GC - 71

Second Match vs. Lebanon at Lebanon Country Club - 63

Millard seems to be playing pretty good right now. Keep it up! Good luck the rest of the way!

Oh, and he shot 62 at Clarksville Country Club in the second round at the Memorial to win by 6 shots.

Don't forget about the rest of his team either, their team scores for those same tournaments and matches were 298, 304, 281, 287, and 287.

  13. Alright. Everybody pay attention. There are several courses in Middle Tennessee worth playing, but not all of them are in good enough shape to bother. Of the one's that are, The Golf Club of Tennessee in Kingston Springs is by far the best. Greystone in Dickson is a distant second. I guess from there they all kinda bunch up. Willowbrook(Manchester), Saddle Creek(Lewisburg), Indian Hills(Murfreesboro), Windtree(Mt. Juliet), The Bear Trace at Tim's Ford(Winchester), Springhouse(Nashville), Pine Creek(Mt. Juliet), Montgomery Bell State Park(Dickson), Nashboro Village(Antioch), Henry Horton State Park(Chapel Hill), Five Oaks(Lebanon), and eventually Old Fort(Murfreesboro), are all in great shape. Look out whenever Old Fort opens in November. It will be a completely different golf course, and will most likely host a couple of TGA Amateur events in the near future. Now, the next tier of golf courses (you know, the one's that are decent, but little known) goes as follows: Blackberry Ridge(Deason), Champions Run(Rockvale), Hunter's Point(Lebanon), Cedar Crest(Walter Hill), White Plains(Cookeville), and Harpeth Hills Municipal(Nashville). As I said, these courses are not very well-known, but definitely well-worth playing. Enjoy!

Good luck to all of the local high school players. Good luck Pettitt. Call me if you still want me to caddy for you on tour! You kow who I am. I think you call me "coach" in case you forgot. :D

  14. People hate change. Change is usually good, and I think you will realize, with time, that this change is good, too. I was a little leary of the new features, too, but I asked myself this question: Why would the powers that be at Coacht.com change it if it wasn't for the benefit of their loyal subscribers. Some of the comments that I am hearing sound almost like the commentORS think Coacht changed it just to make them mad. Well, I seriously doubt it. Stick with it, and I guarantee you that when they change it again in about 5 years, you'll be saying "I liked the other format better, change back...."

  15. Pacer Pete was the mascot of UT Martin when they were the Pacers. They didn't adopt the Skyhawks until about 1994 or so. I was in my third year, I think. I guess it was sort of an inside joke to all of us "older" folks. You young guys probably haven't ever heard of Pacer Pete. He had a sidekick, too. Her name was Pacer Penelope. :):x

  16. Ryan Reese is signing with Cumberland University in Lebanon today at 10:30. Congatulations to Ryan and his family and the coaches at Eagleville High School. Ryan, you have worked hard and your hard work is now starting to pay off. Play hard in college and you will continue to improve, and maybe someday you can beat me! :x:) Good luck Ryan!

  17. You are right "thebeeve." You do have the right to post anything you like on this or any other thread as long as it's not immoral or illegal, but you have to be careful what you post nonetheless. There are lots of high school athletes that read these posts that you and I and all of the other people on coacht post, and we should keep in mind that they are young, and they are impressionable. We should encourage all athletes to pursue all possible alternatives when it comes to them earning a college scholarship. If a player is good enough to play at a college program that rivals that of UT Martin or any other school, then they know not to pursue that avenue, but they should call that coach and let them know that they are not interested. If a player has no desire to play for a certain university, they should still have enough respect for that coach to let them know they aren't interested. Simply ignoring them isn't appropriate, and going on coacht and posting negative comments about the program is classless. I understand that you have respect for Coach Cates and for the program, but you have an odd way of showing it. Jokes are jokes, but I think you can see how an innocent joke can offend many people.

I'd like to add that I wish the best to all of the athletic teams at UTM, especially the golf program, and I would also like to pose a question:

What ever happened to Pacer Pete? :x
