  1. We all know Blake plays for the Y... The referenced post was from a long time ago lol, and if I'm not mistaken from someone in the Y program... But all the posts since then clearly give knowledge to the fact that Black plays with the Y... And I'm not doubting the Y 17's would still be favored to beat the Ballerz 16's even with those 7 players back, but you'll soon see the new roster could be pretty darn good by mid to late july... And in the game, if you were actually there watching, a Y bucket, followed by a missed front end of 1 and 1 by Ballerz, followed by a Y 3, Ballerz turnover, and Y layup led to a very quick 13 point lead... and from there the Ballerz ran out of gas and it swelled to 21 in the final 3 minutes on missed ballerz 3's and Y breakaways... But of course if you were there watching the game, you would know that... And as far as age goes, Class is a better indicator than age, because they will all be going to college at the same time...and if we are going just by age, then the Ballerz 16's have a few 15 year olds, including the only PG on the roster for the Memphis tourney, who is a class of 2010... However you want to look at it, the Ballerz 16s are younger than the YOMCA 17s... And the Ballerz 17s definitely flopped during the weekend, no argument there...but still would have been great to see the matchup of Ballerz 17s vs Y 17s... Remember the Ballerz beat Georgia Blazers by 12 this year, the same team that went on to win Nike Memorial Day!! and Wallace Prather event in atlanta!! ...among others. In fact that's been the knock on this team all year is playing to the level of the competition. But of course there's a chance to see this matchup June 30, along with many other great matchups, if teams want to cooperate and match up to the competition... In any case, why are we arguing any of this?? Y has a great team, great players, and a great program. They are the #1 team in the State right now. A Ballerz 17's and Y 17s game would be a lot of fun, and hopefully will happen. Oh, and Justin Blake plays for the Y /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  2. I agree Coach!!! Let's make this happen!! Also, just to clarify, this is NOT a 'Ballerz event' or anything like that. I am helping someone else put this on, and am very excited about the possiblity of it and want to do my part!!! I would urge anyone else to make calls to some of these teams as well to make this exciting event happen!!!
  3. Battle of the State Saturday, June 30th (during TSSAA and NCAA dead period, meaning it is a free Saturday) Location: Dickson, TN (30 mins west of Nashville, an hour east of Jackson) Cost: just $100 per team to cover officials and gym cost Looks like this could become a reality, but I need everyone's help... We are taking just the Top 8 teams in 17s, and the Top 8 teams in 16s... Bracket format with 2 game guarantee and 3 game max One day, one gym, all the best teams and players in the State!!! Some Teams we're targeting and want to hear from (open to other suggestions as well): 17u YOMCA SE Elite Memphis Midstate Ballerz Tn Travelers Team Chaos Nashville Celtics Tn Mavs Tri Grizzlies Mem Hoopers Gold Tn All Stars Ballerz White Tn Thunder 16u Tn YOMCA Tigers Midstate Ballerz Nashville Celtics Tn Travelers YOMCA SE Elite Tidwell Franklin Rage Tn Fire SE Elite Memphis Midsouth Prospects Ballerz White Idlewild Chatt Thunder This could be an amazing event but I need everyone's help to make this happen!!!
  4. The Y 17s never played the Ballerz 17's unfortunately during the weekend... They beat the Ballerz 2nd team... And the score you have against the Ballerz 16s was the score the Y beat the Thunder on friday night. The Y 17s beat the Ballerz 16's 59-38, though it was just a 6 point game with just over 4:00 to go in the 4th... Also, the Ballerz 16s were missing 7 key players, including 2 starters who were the 2nd and 3rd leading scorers... The Y has a very, very good team, but they are not all 2009 kids. Justin Blake is 08, as is Jason Jones, Murrell from White Station, and the starting PG from Mississippi... The Y 17s are very, very good and deservedly the #1 17u team in the state, but just make sure you have the facts straight...
  5. Coach... I completetely agree! I don't really understand why teams don't 1) It's not that expensive, especially when you consider you really get two tourneys for the price of one in substate and state 2) It doesn't interfere with National events, as you can choose your substate dates (and we have hit all the major events for the last 5 or 6 years, and still played AAU) 3) It is not that far to travel to since Substates can be local, and even States aren't far away 4) There are many major teams out there that do both the Travel and Nike circuit (if Boo Williams can do it year in year out, anyone can) 5) Many of the major programs in TN that are not playing 16 and 17s, are still playing AAU in 15u (Travs, Celts, Mavs) Coach, I have an idea but I don't know if we could get enough participation but: June 30 (Saturday) do a 1 day, 3 game event with all the top teams in the State, 16u and 17u Probably in Nashville or Dickson, something centrally located. Just Top 8 teams in 17u, and Top 8 team in 16u And only charge like $75-100 per team just to cover officiating costs, so cost isn't an issue It would be a Battle of the State type deal, but also a good warm up for July circuit, and doesn't conflict with HS team camps What do u think??
  6. Player evaluations from Midstate Ballerz website posted here for CoachT (not sure what happened to the original thread) Feel free to comment... And enjoy!!! Class of 2007 Travis Fitch, Hoopers Black, 6'3 WF (Manassas, Memphis)... Fitch, who was originally Class of 06 before re-classifying, was outstanding all weekend long, as one of the top 5 scorers for the tourney. Very athletic, could slash to the basket and knock down the outside shot. Very good Junior College prospect... Chris Benton, Hooper Black, 5'11 PG (Manassas, Memphis)... Benton was one of the hardest playing, fearless players in the entire tourney. Could really shoot it from deep and defend as well. But it was his toughness and effort that really set him apart. A Junior College really needs to scoop this kid up quickly... Class of 2008 Darrius Ricks, Chatt Warriors 6'1 2G (Howard, Chattanooga)... Ricks is an athletic combo guard who has a good body, and can score in a variety of ways. Sweet lefty jumper, but better slashing to the basket right now. Cornelius Woods Chatt Warriors, 5'10 WF (Tyner, Chattanooga)... Woods was a major suprise at COC, and finished as one of the leading scorers for the event. Woods is a very active WF, though undersized, that can score inside, slashing to the basket, or hititng the outside shot... Grant Gouldie, Knox Cagers, 6'8 C (Anderson Co, Knoxville)... Gouldie is a kid that has shown steady improvement over the years, and has developed into a nice NAIA/D-II prospect. Good size and frame, with solid footwork. Showed improved toughness as well... Sam Hill, Hoopers Black, 6'4 BF (Central, Memphis)... Hill is a long, athletic undersized Power Forward that really showed some flashes. Hit some outside shots, but must be more consistent to move to the 3. Still an intriguing under the radar prospect... Chucky Tunstall, Hoopers Gold, 6'7 WF (Olive Branch, Mississippi)... Chucky was one of the bigger suprises for the weekend. Very athletic and great size on the perimeter. Can knock down the three and attack the rim. Very good Mid Major D-1 prospect was in fact one of the better prospects in the field... Roy McFagdon, Hoopers Gold, 6'5 WF (Manassas, Memphis)... Long and very athletic wing. Played his best game the one game I did not see. Still, can knock down the outside shot, and very active around the basket. Under the radar prospect to keep you eye on... Tre Payne, Hoopers Gold, 5'10 PG (Central, Memphis)... Tre is a strong, very quick PG with a smooth outside shot. Potential Division 1 player can defend and score. Would like to see him more consistent with his game to solidify D-1 status, but definitely a sleeper guard within the state... Edwin Dorsey, Hoopers Gold, 6'0 PG (Oakhaven, Memphis)... Dorsey has always been one of my favorite kids to see on the circuit, with his oustanding quickness and defensive abilities. Great kid as well. Very athletic and strong, but must become a more consistent shooter to solidify himself as a Mid Major player. Still one of the better PG's in the Class of 08... Scotty Hopson, Midstate Ballerz Blue, 6'6 2G (UHA, Hopkinsville, KY)... What more can you say about Scotty? He is long, athletic, and has unbelievable upside. Has as quick of a first step as any player in the South, which says a lot for a kid 6'6. Only complaint is consistency; if Scotty plays with a passion on both sides of the floor more consistently, then he is one of the top 10 or 15 players nationally... Tyshwan Edmunson, Midstate Ballerz Blue, 6'3 2G (UHA, Hopkinsville, KY)... Tyshwan is an enigma at times. Shows constant flashes of High Major ability and production, but then will dissappear for long stretches. Long, athletic with a beautiful outside shot, Tyshwan simply must become more consistent to play at the High Major level... Tyrone Caldwell, Midstate Ballerz Blue, 6'0 PG (Clarksville High, Clarksville)... Caldwell continued his outstanding Spring with a very good showing at COC. He is great at running a team, and gets in the lane very well. But the aspect of his game that has improved the most since last year is his outside shot, which has looked very good this Spring. Great Mid Major plus prospect... Nicholas Livesay, Midstate Ballerz Blue, 6'8 BF (Bolton, Memphis)... Livesay is a long, athletic, bouncy prospect who is really coming along. Starting to recieve a good amount of D-1 interest, his best days are clearly ahead of him. Still raw offensively but coming along. Very intriguing prospect.. Victor McLin, Midstate Ballerz Blue, 6'5 WF (Dyersburg HS, Dyersburg)... Vic is another under the radar prospect who is developing into a good Mid Major player. Athletic with a good body at 6'5, Vic is now really knocking down the outside shot as well... Rayshawn Walker, Midstate Ballerz Blue, 6'3 WF (Clarksille NE, Clarksville)... Rayshawn has really made strides since last year, and is really looking like a solid Mid Major prospect. Very, very long and athletic, Rayshawn showed a much improved stroke from the outside to go with his slashing game... John Primm, Midstate Ballerz Blue, 6'0 PG (Dickson Co, Dickson)... Arguably no player in the state plays or works harder than Primm. Though doubts of how athletic he is, Primm more than makes up for it with his basketball IQ, his hustle, lockdown defense, and toughness... Robbie Townsend, Midstate Ballerz White, 5'10 PG (Ft. Campbell HS, Ft. Campbell, KY)... Townsend was a real surprise for the tourney, and played like one of the best PGs in the event. The lefty has a great mid range game, and really controlled tempo. A sleeper guard that is a borderline D-1/D-II/NAIA guard... Michael Anderson, Midstate Ballerz White, 5'2 PG (Kenwood HS, Clarksville)... The diminutive "Scoop" was outstanding all weekend long for the Ballerz White. Though very small, Scoop is very strong and athletic, and got into the lane at will, while creating havoc on the defensive end. Very good NAIA/D-II prospect... Brandon Hall, Midstate Ballerz White, 6'5 WF (Cascade, Shelbyville)... Hall is a smooth wing with a good build and versatile game. Borderline D-1 and D-II/NAIA prospect. The rest of the summer and senior season will be huge for him. Shoots it well and is athletic... KJ Stripling, Murf-town Hustlers, 6'0 PG (Smyrna, Smyrna)... A very underrated PG in the 08 class, Stripling is a Low-Mid D-1, D-II/NAIA prospect. Very good outside shot, and really runs a team well. Good body and solid athleticism. Definitely a sleeper to keep your eye on... Kendal Harding, Murf-town Hustlers, 6'1 WF (Oakland, Murfreesboro)... Very strong, physical wing, whould have a breakout high school season at Oakland. Scored in a variety of ways, but it was his toughness that really stood out... Montori Hughes, Murf-town Hustlers, 6'6 C (Siegel, Murfreesboro)... Montori, at about 250 pounds, is a beast down low. Rumored to be a very good football prospect, would be a great NAIA-D-II or Juco prospect if he keeps his cool and gets his head on right. Reminicent of former Memphis Northside post Demarco Steptor... Jordan Simpson, Nashville Bearcats, 6'2 2G (Lipscomb, Nashville)... Very good shooter, had 2 games of 19 points in the tourney. Showed good toughness and ability to put ball on the floor as well. Watch for him to have a breakout season at Lipscomb w Slater gone next year... Rob Murphy, Nashville Bearcats, 6'6 PF (Brentwood Academy, Nashville)... Big, bruising, but skilled post from Brentwood Academy looks like a very good NAIA/D-II prospect. Can step out and knock down the outside shot. Very good size on his 6'6 frame. Another sleeper in the 08 class... Elgin Lee, SE Elite, 6'2 2G (Briarcrest, Memphis)... Lee proved that his stock should skyrocket among 08 guards. Good size and build at the two, Lee scored from everywhere on the court, especially with his deadly midrange game. His outside shot looked nice as well, and Lee should be a much sought after Mid Major prospect... Rockeem Henderson, 6'3 2G (Kirby, Memphis)... Another talented SE Elite wing, Henderson also scored in a variety of ways. Excelled getting to the basket, as well as knocking down the mid range jumper. Very good body and athleticism too. Mid Major prospect... Arnett Moultrie, SE Elite, 6'9 BF (Trezevant, Memphis)... Moultrie has all the tools to be a special player at the next level. Not very polished offensively, but can handle the ball well from his power forward position. Upside is through the roof. Very athletic, and a good frame. Possibly still growing. Rebounds and blocks shots well, and excels in running the floor. Minimum Top 10 prospect in 08 class in TN... Martino Brock, SE Elite, 6'5 2G (Ridgeway, Memphis)... Martino continues to excel in Coach Jermaine Johnson's system. The long, long, athletic wing can run any of the 3 guard positions. Very good defender, and showed much improvement on his outside shot. Must become more consistent offensively, but a Mid Major +, Conference USA type player... Terrico White, Team Chaos, 6'5 WF (Craigmont, Memphis)... Terrico showed numerous flashed of his vast potential all weekend long, but still must become more consistent. High Major talent if that consistency comes, Terrico has a great body, outstanding athleticism, and a solid outside shot; just must become more consistent with his effort. Ricky Taylor, Team Chaos, 6'3 2G (Haywood Co, Brownsville)... Ricky is a very good looking Mid Major D-1 prospect, with a great feel for the game. Not very explosive, but makes up for it with his high basketball IQ and court sense. Very heady player... Jarvis Jones, Team Chaos, 6'2 2G (Mitchell, Memphis)... Always one of my favortie players to come watch, Jones had an up and down tourney. The sweet shooting lefty is still one of the better shooters in the 08 Class, but I would like to see him go back to attacking the backet more off the bounce, which will add more volume to his game. Very good prospect... Kellen Cade, Team Chaos, 6'1 PG/2G (White Station, Memphis)... One of the biggest surprises in the 08 Class at the tourney was Cade. 5 tripples in one game, and an overall very productive tourney propells Cade into D-1 circles. The combo guard was good defensively, and really showed an ability to score... MJ Brown, TN All Stars, 6'0 PG (Union City, Union City)... MJ has the complete package, and is one of the top 2 true PG's in the State. MJ is very quick, can get in the lane at will, has range out to 22 feet, and was excellent at running a team. Very underrated guard is a great Mid Major D-1 prospect, who has put on a lot of strength since last year as well... Andre Coby, TN All Stars, 6'2 WF (Union City HS, Union City)... Coby is a player that has improved by leaps and bounds since last year, and has turned into a nice NAIA/D-II prospect. Good body and athleticism, Coby is also a very good shooter... Erin Harris, TN All Stars, 6'6 BF (Clarksburg HS, Clarksburg)... Very athletic and long player. Blocks shots and rebounds well. Not polished offensively, but has a ton of potential... Robert Yancy, TN All Stars, 5'11 PG (Peabody, Trenton)... Another very nice surprise at the tourney was the play of Yancy. Though small, Yancy is a quick and very athletic point, that can really knock down the outside shot. One of the faster risers among PG's in the 08 class. Very good D-II/NAIA prospect... Adam Barnes, Tn Fire, 6'2 2G (Clarksville High, Clarksville)... Barnes is a very athletic guard who excels in transition and on the defensive end. His offensive game cam together with 18 points in a near quarterfinal shocker. Could have a breakout year at Clarksville next year... Class of 2009 Kevin Kegarise, Franklin Rage 16, 6'0 2G (Franklin HS, Franklin)... Kevin proved to be one of the better shooters in the event, twice knocking down 4 threes in a game. Decent size and with good length, Kevin has a chance to be very good at the next level once he gets stronger and develops his game off the bounch... Michael Young, Frankin Rage 16, 6'2 PG (Franklin HS, Franklin)... Though clearly not one of his better tournaments during the summer, Young is an outstanding prospect and one of the bigger sleepers in the Class of 09. Even when not scoring, he controls the game offensively with his poise, and can knock down the clutch shot, as shown by his game winning three vs. Chatt Warriors in OT... James Haddix, Franklin Rage 16, 6'8 C (Franklin HS, Franklin)... Haddix is another in a long line of sleepers on the Rage roster. Very solid frame, good hands, and surprising toughness tell me that Haddix will develop into a much sought after Mid Major player before it's all said and done. Definitely one to watch in this class... Jamal Starnes, Franklin Rage 16, 6'3 BF (Franklin HS, Franklin)... Starnes is as active and athletic as any player in the 09 Class, and a very productive player. Blocks shots, scores everything around the hoop, and rebounds with anyone in the state. Another under the radar 09 kid... Reggie Buckner, Hoopers Gold 17, 6'7 BF (Manassas, Memphis)... Very good, under the radar prospect! Looks like a potential Top 15 player in the 2009 class. Very long, very bouncy. Great shot blocker and good rebounder. Runs the floor exceptionally well and finished in transition. Still must develop offensive game, but that time will come for this long athlete... Trey Carothers, Midstate Ballerz Blue 16s, 6'3 PG/2G (Harpeth, Kingston Springs)... Carothers proved again he is one of the most intriguing prospects in the 09 Class with his great athleticism, to go along with his size and length, and ability to play both the Point and 2G spots. Sky is the limit for the kid, especially when he becomes more consistent on his outside shot... D'Alvin Brown, Midstate Ballerz Blue 16s, 5'11 2G (Covington, Covington)... One of the better shooters in the 09 Class, D'Alvin put his athleticim on display as well, both on the defensive end and on the boards. Must develop his game off the dribble more, but one he does, will be a very good prospec in the 09 class... Joey Lee, Midstate Ballerz White 16, 5'11 PG (Riverdale, Murfreesboro)... Joey continues to establish himself as one of the top PG prospects in the Class of 09. Very quick with a strong body, he gets in the lane very well. Knocked down numerous threes as well, which shows his dedication in the gym. Still must learn to stay under control, as he gets a little too fancy and wild at time... Davell Lloyd, Midstate Ballerz White 16, 6'0 2G (Westview, Martin)... Davell continues to improve every week, and looks to be one of those under the radar prospects that really explodes at some point of his career. Long and a great defender, Davell was one of the better shooters in the entire tourney. Definitely a kid to keep an eye on... Caleb Simpson, Nashville Bearcats, 6'0 PG (Lipscomb, Nashville)... Another surprise 08 player was the scrappy, heady guard from Lipscomb. Very good shooter. Showed he can run a team, while playing up an age group.... Larry Macgahey, SE Elite, 6'4 2G (BTW, Memphis)... The biggest surprise in the 08 Class was the long and athletic wing Macgahey. Coach Jermaine Johnson has a knack of finding sleepers, and continues with the wiry guard. Macgahey showed a great outside shot, got in the lane, and looked like minimum a Top 15 player in the Class of 09... Travis Bridges, SE Elite, 5'9 PG (BTW, Memphis)... Another BTW 09 sleeper, Bridges, who was overshadowed at times in HS ball behind guards Lee and Ware, is a very good prospect in his own right. Smart, heady, and quick, Bridges is a point to watch in the 09 Class... Chris Reaves, Team Chaos, 6'3 WF (Bolivar Central, Bolivar)... Reaves is a very active, long and athletic wing. Didn't shoot it very well, but was always around the ball, and attacked the rim well, both off the dribble and on the offensive boards... Adrian Williamson, Tn Fire 16, 6'2 2G/WF, (Hume Fogg, Nashville)... One of the top slashing wings in the 09 class. Gets to the basket very well, and has a nose for the ball. Always seems to be making plays. Must continue to work on outside shot for next level, but a very effective and underrated player. Very long... Zellburg Gleaves, Tn Fire 16, 6'0 PG/2G (Antioch, Antioch)... Another very active player from the scrappy Tn Fire team. Great penetrator, and also a great nose for the ball. Also must become more consistent shooting, but very tough and physical player. Definitely a kid to keep you eye on... Dominick Nicholas, Tn Mavs 16, 6'2 2G (Siegel, Murfreesboro)... Maybe the biggest surprise of the Class of 2009 was Nicholas, and arguably the best athlete of the whole tourney. Must work on outside shot, but amazing lefty athlete gets to the basket very well. Look for a breakout season at siegel next year from Nicholas... Neal Carroll, Tn Mavs 16, 6'8 BF (Siegel, Murfreesboro)... The surprising Mavs had a number of talented players on their roster, and the long, athletic Carroll was one of them. Very raw offensively, but runs the floor well, and is a very good shot blocker. Must add strength, but has a ton of upside... Tyler Edwards, Tn Mavs 16, 6'3 2G/WF (Oakland, Murfreesboro)... And the run of unknown talented Mavs players does not end there. Edwards is a wing with a great body and good athleticism. Can knock down the outside shot, but must learn to put it on the floor better. Very intriguing prospect with good size on the perimeter... Class of 2010 Jay Murphy, Midstate Ballerz Blue 16, 5'9 PG (Bolivar Central, Bolivar)... Playing with only half a roster, it was Jay's time to step up and show what he could do. And as he has shown throughout the entire Spring/Summer, he is one of the top PG's in the State in the 2010 class. Really good shooter, hitting 4 threes in 2 different games, and as quick as they come. Top 10-15 player in the 2010 Class... Reginald Gilmore, Chatt Warriors 17, 6'4 BF (Tyner, Chattanooga)... Major surprise in the 2010 Class was the play of Gilmore, who started for the 17u Warriors. Long and athletic with a good body, Gilmore was very active, and had 16 in a game, opening many eyes. Very active on the glass... Terase Clemmons, Tn Trojans 15, 6'5 2G (Wilson Central, Lebanon)... One of the better prospects in the 2010 Class, Clemmons did not dissapoint. Great size and frame, and a smooth lefty outside shot, it's his vision that really sets him apart. Top 10 prospect in 2010... Marc Gooch, Tn Trojans 15, 6'1 2G (Siegel, Murfreesboro)... Gooch was one of the better athletes in the tourney, and excelled in getting to the basket. Also a great defender. With an improved outside shot, Gooch will be among the state's best. Very talented player... Zack Pettway, Tn Trojans 15, 6'1 WF (Wilson Central, Lebanon)... Great athlete was very active all weekend long. Plays very hard on both ends of the floor. Unpolished offensively, but did hit some jumpers in one game I saw. Kid to keep an eye on... Tarius Johnson, Ballerz Red 15, 6'4 WF (Liberty Tech, Jackson)... In very few games over the weekend, TJ still made a major impact and continues to establish himself as a potential Top 15 player in the 2010 Class. Very long, and a great feel for the game, TJ can score inside and out. Lots of upside... Carlos Denton, M33M 15, 6'6 WF (Hamilton, Memphis)... Denton was a major surprise in the tourney, and I have a hard time not seeing him in the Top 5 players in the State, Class of 2010. Great size and versatility, running all 5 positions for M33M at one time or another. Great defender. Good feel for the game. Can handle the rock, rebound, slash to the basket, and solid vision. Very good prospect... Justin Harris, M33M 15, 5'9 PG (Central, Memphis)... Harris, a late addition to the roster, exploded onto the scene and made the all tourney team. Quick, strong PG with a smooth outside shot, Harris had to sit out last HS season due to transfer rules. Very good prospect... Joe Jackson, M33M 15, 5'10 PG (White Station, Memphis)... There are not enough superlatives to use when discussing Joe Jackson. Joe has the skills, the swagger, the persona, and the work ethic to be the top PG nationally in the Class of 2010. Leading scorer for the tourney any age, Joe can absorb contact and finish, can shoot, run a team, pass, and defend. The whole package and a great kid... Skylar Blacklear, M33M 15, 7'0 C (Bell City High, Missouri)... Blacklear is a project right now, but an enormous kid that has good timing on blocked shots, and rebounds well. Must get up and down the court better, but at his size at 15 years old, is clearly a prospect to watch... Terrance Durham, M33M 15, 6'1 PG (Sheffield, Memphis)... Durham clearly established himself as one of the better PG prospects in the State in 2010. Very good size at the point to go along with a sweet outside shot and great quickness.... Class of 2011 Riley Stower, Tn Edge 14, 6'1 2G (Woodland, Brentwood)... Stower was the most outstanding 8th grader throughout the event, with great size and skill on the perimeter. Good shooter, and got in the lane very well. But what set him apart was his toughness, playing against mainly older kids... Jacob Lloyd, Ballerz Red 15, 6'0 2G (Westview, Martin)... Jacob in limited games at the event, showed again why he is one of the top 8th grade guards in the state. The smooth lefty got in the lane, knocked down outside shots, and was very good on the defensive end...
  7. Coach... They are the number 1 seed in pool A... Pool B is the Y 16's who will be in 16u state, as I understand

  9. The Rage and Fire have a great chance of making a big run at the State tourney... Also, watch out for TN Flight to be a sleeper.
  10. The Chatt Warriors played very well in a balanced pool over the weekend, losing in OT to Franklin Rage, beating a good Knox Cagers team, and losing a close one to a Ballerz White team that upset Mem Hoopers Gold and made the semifinals... 13. Also right down the road is the Challenge of Champions in Dickson, just 30 mins away, with some of the top teams in all age groups in the State... I will post a shedule later today...games start Friday at Dickson Co HS Also go to unapproved website com for more info...
  14. Oh ok...cool. Makes sense... Well, I'm still interested to hear about 16u State format
  15. I agree!!! It's an unenviable job andre has of ranking everyone, but he does a great job. Can't wait till next weekend when a high number of these Top 16u teams show up for the Challenge of Champions at Dickson. Just wanting a commitment from Nash Celtics and Tn Tigers, and we could end up with almost a full sweep. Plus a few under the radar teams that may be better than many on the list such as SE Elite Memphis, and Memphis Idlewild... Looks actually to be a much better gauge of 16's success than AAU STate this year
  16. That is so weird. Wow... Well if anyone finds out a definite answer on any of this, please post it here. Also, what happened to the rule that a team with an automatic bid still had to play in a substate event to be able to use the automatic bid for nationals? Did they change the rules? I wouldn't mind the rule change, just wondering. There have been numerous years that we thought about not wanting to go through the substate route do to other tourneys, but were told by the AAU office we still had to in order to use the Auto bid... Interesting stuff /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  17. 1st off let me say I think Andre does an outstanding job with his Rankings, and I'm so glad someone does that for TN SUmmer hoops!!! As for the rankings, I think they are very good. There is not much difference between #'s 2 and 10 honestly. Tigers have a legit claim to #1...
  18. Coach P... Email me at coachshul@hotmail.com... I tried to email you about our tourney May 18-20 in Dickson. It's going to be a great event, and I'm trying to make sure every top TN team is going...still working on some...so we can play it all out like we all want... Talk to you soon Coach
  19. Chatt Warriors... email me at coachshul@hotmail.com... I want to get you all at our tourney May 18-20 to get your program the recognition and exposure it deserves. U all have done a great deal in a few short years, and I want to help get your name out there (your players ,and program)
  20. And don't forget the Ballerz coach wasn't there either /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> Would have liked to have been there to see the other teams. Heard Chatt Warriors are a very talented bunch: definitely a program on the rise in the State
  21. Skylar did very very well. He continues to flat out impress me. He is a coach's dream with how hard he plays and how coachable he is. He leaves it all on the court. He shot the ball very, very well, and really made a name for himelf. In the process he picked up a couple of mid Major D-1 offers... I'm not sure he doesn't have a chance at playing High Major ball if he continues to improve because of the way he shoots it, plays so hard, is athletic, and multi dimensional...
  22. Skylar is #10 (6'2 G) and CJ was #31 (5'10 PG)
  23. I agree... We fell to the Celtics in the semifinals in 16's, and #5 (who's name is Terrance Shannon) was outstanding, and the difference in the game. At 6'8, athletic, and strong as an ox, Shannon has tremendous upside, and will be a great player at the next level. Completely controlled the boards all tourney long, but also showed great offensive prowess as well... Great tourney!!!!!! Should be a must for any team in TN and surrounding states wanting to get exposure and competition!! Great job Carl Reed
  24. In no particular order, here are some of the top performers from the Substate (I also don't know many names of the other 4 teams in it) -Skylar McBee, Ballerz Blue (one of the State's best) -Chase Jones, Flight (6'5 slasher is sooo athletic) -CJ Crittendon, Ballerz Blue (strong, solid leader. Hit 4 treys in a game) -Demonte Simpson, Flight (one of top big men in 2009. Physical w/ ton of upside) -Terrell Townsend, Ballerz White (24 points and 5 treys in semis) -Sam Watson (averaged almost a double double. 20 and 11 in first game) -Dustin Craig, Flight (underrated 6'5 G can really stroke it) -Kelten Stewart, Ballerz White (solid, tough PG) -Derrick Walker, Ballerz Blue (versatile SF can score inside, and slash) -PG #3, Flight (from Oak Ridge, great defender and penetrator) I know I am leaving out a TON of talented players on this list, but this was a glimpse of the top players in attendance...
