That will be a tough loss for Dresden if she gets the job. She is the glue that holds that team together. Will be a great hire for Lexington no doubt. Lots of work to do there but she has the knowledge and resources to establish a program. Positive would be no worries with politics with out of county hire.

Coach Bowman has done an excellent job, but to act like Dresden hasn’t had a lot success way before she got there is crazy.  Dresden had won multiple District titles and  multiple sub-state and state tournament appearances before she was on staff.

  2. My bet is they will hire a new coach, unless coach Evans or Hewitt wants to help them out for a year. If it's like the head coaching position it will be in the 6th week of football season before they hire someone. lol

It really doesn't matter how long it takes as long as they hire the right coach.

  3. The gym is clean and well cared for. You were treated with respect. I'm sure of that. And as for being rude, everyone deserves the chance to see. We sent you 500 tickets. You should have bought more than 110 and then you wouldn't have had Middleton fans sitting with you.

You seemed to know a lot about about Middleton and everything that goes on behind the scenes. I'm just wondering how many people does the Middleton gym hold? Was this game a sellout?

  4. Greenfield beats Dresden by 9 and it could and should have been 20. 12-1 after first quarter. How in the world did Dresden beat Union City? Wow!

Dresden played their worst game of the year by far! You should know that comparing scores is crazy. Teams dont always play good every night and it makes scores misleading. Like last year you and every other Greenfield fan got on here and talked had about how bad Dresden was after the first game and then when it matter Dresden beat Greenfield 2 times.

Last night Greenfield played much better! But Dresden had the ball down 6 and missed a layup that would have cut to four. So to say it should have been 20 is a little misleading.

Against UC, neither team played that good. UC didnt make any shots bout like Dresden last night, there are alot of teams in the region this year that can beat each other on a given night. 14a has most of them.

  5. OMG, who truly cares except Greenfield and Dresden?? Greenfield will cry forever as long as they field a football team. It's in the cards. Dresden is on the doorstep of a good football team and those fans there that choose to look for excuses need to find a life. The Lions are growing teeth. If Hewitt did resign then so be it. I would call that spineless yet necessary. When your team is more of a man than you are it's time.

Personally I have no issue with the Lions. Our game is a big one every season for sure. Friday night was a good experience for all. I see that some took our jesting about the field seriously and I'm sorry 'bout that but it was all in fun. Dresden was a great host!

There was some female voice getting extremely hostile in the Dresden stands after the game and now i'm assuming that might have been the christy that has been rasin'so much **** on here.

True Lions fans, us Rebels had a good experience at your house Friday night and would say that even if we had lost. Keep digging because you are right on the threshold.

Thanks. Good luck to the rebels.

  6. I personally like Chuck West and the West boys, but your logic about being closer is simply incorrect. Type in yahoo directions and do it yourself: Point A- Greenfield Point B- Mckenzie (16 miles).....Point A- Dresden Point B-Mckenzie (17 miles)....everybody in 14A knew that was a big to do about nothing, except for escaping the football schedule and improving the chances to make the playoffs, cause you guys weren't beating humboldt, trenton or UC anytime soon and more importantly for the basketball aspect----that's why you guys went from finishing 6-8 place every year to finishing in the top 2-3. If you are going to state the "facts"....like you said, be sure to state "all" of the facts. And yes, Chuck West did make that decision to go that way instead of sending a more suitable school such as Greenfield.

I like how you put the milage for 13a schools but not 14a. The milage from Dresden High School to McKenzie high school is 13 miles according to mapquest. put milage in for all the 14a schools and all 13a schools and I think you will see that greenfield is closer to most if not every 14a school than dresden is. In some cases a lot closer.

Again only part of the facts, but not totally correct on the distance from dresden/greenfield to mckenzie.

Im not totally sure on this but I think there are 9 people on tssaa board. Somore than1 person had to vote for the aligment I would think.

The only reason for some of these post is to make some people/dresden look bad and that is why are posting some of the some facts and not all of them. Im sure Mr. West and his sons would be glad to know that someone who likes them/friend is on coacht and pretty much dogging mr. west. Im sure it would be appreciated.

  7. Obviously, "RunandJump" is Chuck West, the principal. Hello Chuck, how are you?

No not even close. Just trying not to let a few who seemed to be misinformed run people thru the mud with incorrect information.

You obviously have a problem with him and the coaches at dresden so why dont you set up a meeting so that you can discuss your issue or issues face to face with the people its with.

Some decisions must not have gone your way since every post of yours has been negative towards dresden.

my last post was just stating facts because some try to make others look bad by only using part of the facts. This will be my only and last response to you, I hope youcan get whatever issue you have workout because it is obviously bothering you a lot or all your posts wouldnt be about the same negative thing.

  8. Actually they went through their 20 something game losing street after the reclassification.

    http://www.tssaa.org/Handbook/classification.pdf

2006 season--they went into a 2A classification for football, but your principal moved them to Carroll County side to get away from Humboldt (smaller enrollment), Trenton (smaller enrollment), and the other Single A power houses like Union City and Lake County. He cast the deciding vote because he was a regional representative. Ask Lake County football enthusiast about it.

I can't remember which local school got shafted, but I believe it was Greenfield (extremely small enrollment like Gleason). Dresden took the easier way out and it hasn't worked out for them, because Mckenzie- Huntingdon- Bruceton- West Carroll and those boys know how to play football too. I gave you a link so you don't think I'm making it up.

Some of this is funny, if Dresden's principal is so powerful why didnt he just create a district with all the easy teams and put all the good teams in another? The reason is that the districts are based on where the towns are geographically. The single a districts now are the exact same as the were in the early 90s with huntingdon, uc, and humboldt added.

As for Dresden's classification, in the 1999 season dresden went 2a in the district with uc, humboldt, trenton, gc, and halls. Dresden struggle for a few years. A couple of years later milan and westview came into the district and in the2003 season dresden finished 2nd behind milan and made the playoffs again in 04. The losing streak occurred during the 07 & 08 seasons when dresden was in the same district. In 2009, the tssaa went from 5 classes in football to 3 classes for all sports in the regular season and 6 classes in the playoffs for football. At this point dresden went to1a in the regular season and 2a in the playoffs. The link you provided does show dresden in 2a but so is milan, westview, etc. those teams are now 2a in regular season and.3a in the playoffs.

I thought this might clear this up. If you think it is wrong. Just go and look at the schedules from those years on coacht, im sure they are still up so you can look at them.

Ill say it again the hodges are very good coaches! But if dresden was playing in the district with milan, westview, crockett, obion, etc they would be about where they were in the years when they were playing in the district with those teams.

  9. The Hodges are fine coaches that are responsible for turning that program around. Dresden has always been blessed with good athletes (for most years) and I am glad they aren't a doormat anymore. We are in a down year and it's obvious, but referencing the "Bullseye" comment---a couple of their players did that to their team by their actions in Week 0. There is a payday coming for that and I feel for a couple of them next year, because we got some players who want and will play that way. We have a couple of head hunters on varsity and several in JV and "all" of our biggest hitters are coming back.

That's the difference between teams that are used to it and teams that are not. The ones who are generally on top recognize that the next game may be different and are normally very humble. Not to take anything away or lump all of your team together, you do have a lot of big hearted classy kids and we do wish them the best of luck.

The Hodges are good coaches, but the biggest reason for Dresden's turnaround os that they.went back to single a. Having to beat Gleason, WestCarroll, Bruceton, And the other class a teams is alot easier than Milan, Westview, Humboldt, USJ, etc that they were having to beat each week 3 or 4 years ago. Dresden has always been competitive when on single a.

  10. Union City girls basketball team is loaded and ready for this year. Union City Girls Basketball will be taken to a new level for sure, one they have not been to very many time. should be fun.....

UC has a good team, but they are in District 14A not 13A that this thread is about. They will not win District 13A.

  11. But you do realize i never stated that it would improve sports teams i have no idea where you got that in your head. but if different students went to different schools it would probably make the sports team better in some ways if the students chose to play sports.

The students at westview got the same letter, so why bring it up to put down dresden. Why is everyone from westview and gc posting in the dresden/mckenzie thread? Not sure why anyone from westview is worried bout dresden, not in s

ame class, wont play in playoffs, just a good game to make both teams money.

  12. New thread hope this one will stay on topic instead talking bout 1st 2 games. Seems like alot of sour grapes.

Who does everyone think wins? Dresden or McKenzie?

I think it will be super close, low scoring. I need a couple of days to think before I pick.

  13. LOL, hog, the second half of this game is on the internet. Shall I post it for you and everyone on here to break down? I'm sure you've already broken down the film as I know who you are now. In our first series on offense of the second half, on the second play, #10 from Dresden blatantly grabbed our QB's facemask and twisted while getting the tackle. ON THE VERY NEXT PLAY, #10 ran in after a pile had been made and grabbed our RB's helmet while the play was already over and started ripping on his helmet trying to pull him back. And yea, that play wear #22 tried to rip you guys' helmet off... yea, that was #10 that had the ball on that play for Dresden.

And you say, having your head on a swivel at all times is a part of football...well that's where you're wrong. As you should know, there's a new rule this year that if someone is completely out of the play and are cheap shotted then it's a personal foul preventing players from getting knocked out and hurt. I consider Milan a physical football team with classy leadership. I consider Dresden a decent football team that is very unclassy.

I sense some sour grapes. It is worse when GC plays Dresden because GC fans actually think they might win and then reality sets in after the game is over. Im sure if there were cheap shots in a game that it was going both ways but Dresden had its second team in the game after their first possession in the third quarter because of the score AND because of some unclassy play by GC. The coaches didnt want to lose a player for a game because of retaliation to a cheap shot from GC.

  14. Dresden did play good defense against you guys, but I thought I was seeing some groin punches on the QB on a couple of occasions when he was on the ground. #22 was really putting on a show for not doing much on the defensive side of the ball. He did throw a good pass to their speedster in the 2nd half. If he is an underclassmen, that'll catch up to him because they are supposed to play again next year. In Jr High, I believe that guy was a running back--but would never want contact..might be a different dude, not sure. I've covered local football (North West Tennessee) for several years, this year OC, Milan and HC are the real deal. WV will bounce back, they are a traditional powerhouse. Dresden did put a little mustard on that win with some of their actions, but those people over there have always kind of acted like that. I remember 3 years ago, they dropped Lake County like a hot potato. Mckenzie is a better all around team and I still say McKenzie by 2 to 3 touchdowns. If it were at Mckenzie, I'd say 3-4 touchdowns. Should be a good game, until kickoff. Look forward to a McKenzie-Huntingdon battle for the district championship.

Dresden hasnt played Lake Co in football in over 8 years. They didnt drop them three years ago. But Westview did drop Dresden in basketball this year.

  15. Dresden had a fine team last year. How many starters are coming back?Union City should be a very good test with the addition of Reedy and Street from Bradford is as good a player and as quick as any player in the area. Not sure how many starters they bring back.Greenfield lloks to be young according to some of the Greenfield posters.Losing Jordan Gailey should hurt them pretty bad..I'm also kind of curious about South Fulton.IDresden probably doesn't play them but I believe they have had a young team the past couple seasons and they have 1 girl on the team that can really play.Would love to have her on our team.

Dresden lost 2 players off last years team. 3 regular starters are back and 2 others that have started some. Also they have a freshman that might start this year.

  16. Will Dresden play any of the 14a schools?

Dresden is playing UC, Greenfield, Bradford, and I think they play Trenton in a Hall of Champions game. Yes they are playing half of the teamd in district 14. I think I saw that their other non-district games were Henry Co, Munford, Riverside, and 1 game at Huntingdon's Christmas Classic. Looks like a pretty tough out of district schedule. Lake Co. obviously would have made it tougher though.

  17. Volfan did you not see the totals on foul shooting that they announce on the radio. Greenfield shot 20 Dresden 18.

Sounds pretty close. Best officiated game Ive seen all year. Were there missed calls of course but they were pretty consistant.

Dresden beat Greenfield 2 out of 3 times. Plus the only time Greenfield won Dresden was wothout 2 of their top 7 players. Give Dresden some credit and please quit crying.
