  1. Still don't matter if they won the nationals as 12 and unders the game is faster and stronger and you play at a whole different level. I'm not knockin your team but be realistic and it could also be just a damaging to those girls if they are expected to perform at that level and don't meet expectations.
  2. Absolutely agree the lead is safe at 0:00 in the 4th. I understand the sportsmanship thing also. I remember Gene McBee winning a game when he was coaching at Columbia State with his team down by 10 points with a minute to go in the game and he won by 3. This thing was something to behold with using the fouls and pressure defense. So, a lead is never safe. It is not bad sportsmanship to win by 40 but to gloat over it.
  3. Definately the district to be in but there is one AA school I'm forgetting the name, Seigal maybe that is moving down that will give them trouble in that district. They will still have to go through a Nashville region. Davidson Acadamy, Ezell Harding ect. so life won't be all that rosey. I'm glad the district shuffled up but the old 11A was fun.
  4. Santa Fe girls defeated Giles Co. 14-11. It was slow and both teams were very tenative. I don't think it was a good representation of either. Santa Fe is a bit bigger and slower. They didn't rebound as well as they should. Giles Co. is obvioulsy rebuilding and waiting on Jack Harlow to decide when he wants to come home. ( I don't think he will but there are alot of people in Giles Co. wanting him to.
  5. It is a totally different game. Faster, more defenses. I'm not saying they're not good and can adapt. But not to have played it yet in a district game in an opposing gym (MC. tops 2 or 3 in gyms to go in and win). It can be overwhelming. Be patient, your time is coming just not this year. No team has won depending on incoming freshmen carrying the team. Their returning talent is decent and better than most in the district, but still not up with MC. (i'm not from MC but I have seen both teams in the last 2 weeks and I think I'm being fair.) Yo guys will have excellent teams that will challenge for top spot. Especially now with the new districts you won't have to worry about Moore Co. in the future until region.
  6. Too young. Even if you get past Moore Co. (which is unlikely) Summertown and Perry Co. are far better and more experienced. You guys are at least 2 years away from dominating 11A but you'll get there. I'm not knockin you guys mind you but I've seen you and your 11A competition already except for Cornersville and it will have to go through Lynchburg again this year.
  7. They were in the playday at Columbia. Didn't do that badly. Columbia beat them by 20. They were close in some other games. I think they tied Marshall Co. in the last game. They are very athletic but not a great wealth of game savy. They played Columbia man defense until they realized they couldn't run with Columbia and their zone wasn't executed very well. They don't look to the basket on offense it is who ever has the ball drives. As they get older they'll be better
  8. She was not available last night for personal reasons. Hope things are better today!
  9. Columbia's girls are also nursing alot of small but nagging injuries and the other girls that played, needed the PT. Rachael Peery came out of a small slump and played well and shot well. Jessica Pillow was heroic and led the team well on the court. It was good for everyone. Alyssa Jones scored her first baskets ever for the Lady Lions and that will encourage her. CA had some young talent also so good job everyone!
  10. Here you go and it is corrected. FRIDAY 3:00 Hume Fogg vs. Bob Jones (Huntsville Ala.) 4:30 Spring Hill vs. Wayne Co. 6:00 Columbia vs. York Institute 7:30 Lawrence Co. vs. Lebanon SATURDAY 12:00 BGA vs. Lebanon 1:30 Bob Jones vs. Lawrence Co. 3:00 York vs. Hume Fogg 4:30 Wayne Co. vs DCA 6:00 Columbia vs. Loretto 7:30 Mt. Pleasant vs. Spring Hill Everyone that don't want to lie around eating left overs should come watch some good ball.
  11. Go to columbialadylions.com for now and I'll get it up here asap
  12. Just curious, where will they have problems? I'd like to know what you deem as a problem? You may be right, but there are all kinds of potential problems that teams have to either overcome or avoid all together.
  13. Good observation.... I tend to agree after having seen the others at least once within the last 3-4 months. Columbia will be at least 9 deep after the Christmas break.. They have one post returning after a long haitus from Heart surgury this past summer and a sophmore transfer that is a shooter. I think the deeper you are at tournament time, the better your chances. It will still be very interesting. Kinda like SEC football where on any given night anyone could beat anyone else. Bottom line you gotta win at home and at least .600 on the road.
  14. The example of Wilson Central is a good one. I've seen them alot in the last 6 months. They are more than capable than doing it on paper. Now the problem is several fold... 1. Can they go injury free. 2. Can they stay out of foul trouble 3. Can they tolerate the sometimes abuse from sources other than the coach. 4. Can they play up to par on consecutive nights in a tournament format 5. Will they simply run out of gas? That would be the same four out of 5 question for every team with that scenerio. My answers to those would be different for each team.. I seriously doubt that a AAA school would be able to bang around without some injury and/or foul trouble. IMO
  15. If I'm not mistaken, there is a couple of district 8 AAA banners from when Jack Harlow coached in 97 and 98. They may have come is 2nd to Lawrence Co. then, I'm not sure but they made it to the Boro' those years. BTW there is a deeper bench than anybody even knows when a Jamie Smith gets her strenght back and another transfer (shooter) becomes eligible at Christmas. They can go at least nine deep with no drop off.
  16. Hampsire the boys should start around 8:00 Girls around 6:30. You could get a good supper first and make it in time to see the end of the first game and not get too bugg eyed for the boys game
  17. Only if you call playing Wilson Central 45 minutes after beating Oak Hill Acadamy in a grudge match, getting whipped. Entire bench played almost equally in PT for Columbia against Wilson Central who stuck with their 7-8 girl rotation. Not to take anything away from them. They played Columbia much better than they did the week before at Columbia when they lost as bad. It was also W.C.'s first game of the day and they wanted to prove something from the week before and they did. All in all 2 really good teams and that could possibly be a preview of the Boro in March 05.
  18. Riverdale is very good also as is Oakland. Cookville is down as is White Co. Should be alot of parody for this district. As far as Tabatha Amander from Shelbyville at Oakland, She is not eligible yet. She will probably get eligible but the case has not gone before the committee on eligibilty yet. when she is available, she will be the missing link for Oakland.
  19. Tipps-Tibbs you still knew who. I'll try to get it right next time. The bleacher guys are all okay guys and they do know their ball. Until you have been around them they may be a bit intimidating but they don't taunt (spelling?) the players and that's the main thing. They are actually kinda fun to watch when MC is losing. MC got to be top 5 in hardest places to go in and get a win.
  20. I've watched Moore Co. for years in 11A and have always been so impressed with the quality of the teams. I loved watching Janet Holt and Abby Fanning ect. This year will lead to another district championship (probably) but they don't have a horse to stop. It will take the entire team (cliche I know) to win the district. I also saw Perry Co. and Summertown recently and I don't see Moore Co. defeating either one of these guys if the region were today. If they gel with Tibbs then they might. The bleacher coaches were really gettin into thier jobs unusually loud this weekend and I don't know how that will affect Tibbs either. I know the girls are used to it. Anyway, it will be alot closer than in previous years but they should win the district.
  21. A ref at the Shelbyville play day said there were some new rules this year. Where can one find them to review? Thanks
  22. Is that kinda like the twin tower-double posts get it huh? How do you double post anyway?
  23. Yee Ha! you guys are good. I didn't think Lorretto looked all that bad myself. Don't know names but I liked 23. Anyway keep it up this is good for you guys to vent.
  24. When the dust settles it will still be Moore Co.'s district to lose. But Forrest, Huntland and Richland will contend and could sneak up on them if there is any play from the post. Moore Co. just didn't have any post play at all on Sat. They were matched against some decent schools but those schools could have been beaten had the players for Moore co. at post... contributed more. Maybe they are young and inexperienced, they were also cold from 3 land and we know that could change on a dime. Cascade is going to be a bottom feeder. Could not handle any pressure defense at all against JV talent. The unknown is Cornersville, I have no clue. The minute they look like they are ready to make a move, they flop i.e. allowing Culleoka to beat them at the end of the season. I say Moore co then the Forrest then Hunland and either Richland or Cornersville. But I don't see any of these getting past Summertown or Perry Co. BTW... are there any decent post players in 11A? Any 6 footers or better. Now don't tell me about Bunn I know about Bunn.
