A certain radio personality west of the river said this game would be closer than most people think, which is not a good sign for Spring Hill given his record of picking games.
-
Where, pray tell, are Crockett County fans complaining about injuries? Yes, people are wondering about the condition of Jarvis Perry...but if he played for your team, you would be too.
-
Barmore is a good player, but I doubt his absence was worth three touchdowns.
Butchie...ask duckman where I hail from...and what I do.

If you'll remember back to '01 when we went to the semi's against Memphis Mitchell in class AA, the Jackson Sun didn't recognize us untill we won the quarter finals and then (and only then) did they say "McKenzie just might be for real this season!?" Heck, we were 13-0 going into that game!!!!!!!!! What more did we have to do to get their attention??? Of course there are possibly two more teams from Jackson we may have to go thru to get to cross the river (and maybe one of their region "friends" from Fayette Co. so the Jackson Sun won't jump on with us because of that yet.
I remember seeing that 2001 McKenzie team play. Dang, they were good. What is it with you and your QB's up there? Taylor Holland...Drew Hayes...Derek Carr...must be something in the water.

Yeah, well, I was wrong as often as I was right this year. But it was definitely a crazy season. Who'da thunk that Huntingdon and JCM would miss the playoffs?
I really like the Rebels' chances this post-season if the defense can play solid football.
-
I was specifically talking about JCS's secondary, very fast and smart group of kids. They could (emphasis on could) give McKenzie's passing game some problems. But I don't think they'll be able to shut down French and the running game. Which is why I like McKenzie to get to the state finals. Pick your poison with that offense.
But I'll refrain from talking further about that potential matchup until next week, if it happens.
-
Are you kidding? I've been waiting to dig this baby back up for the flack I caught for picking McKenzie in the preseason.
-
But JCS's schedule in the second half of the season was weak, so it's really hard to use that as a measuring stick. It's one thing to run for 300 yards against Middleton; it's another to do it against UC, McKenzie, or Fayette.
I think they do beat UC, but I don't see them getting past McKenzie, though they probably match up better with the Rebels than anyone else in 8-1A.

and thats what separates the two.................fairview is a pretty good team, lewis co. is a great team.go 6aa!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seeing things through 6-2A glasses, aren't we?
Fairview's played a MUCH tougher schedule than has Lewis County, and you'd better believe that's going to be to their benefit. Enough to beat Lewis County? Maybe, maybe not. But this one is not going to be a blowout.
-
At least a 2 TD margin at the end of the first quarter, maybe. No one in 3A has touched them yet, and it's not going to start this week.
Can't wait to see how they match up with Giles County and Lipscomb if their paths cross.
-
Fairview's a pretty good team. I don't think they'll get blown out by any means.

Looks like those "slow white boys" did alright after all, eh, jacket?
-
Maybe a Crockett County person could verify, but I heard that Perry injured his knee pretty badly last night. If so, that changes things.

Much as I hate to say it (because I'd love a closegame), I'm betting on a repeat of last year. FA usually seems to hit a stride late in the season.
-
But it looks like Adamsville still gets into the playoffs by virtue of White House-Heritage's upset win against Forrest tonight and Hardin County's win over JCM.
-
No. A rematch with TCA at Bruceton.

what about jackson christian school? has everyone already counted them out of the hunt?
they have 3 loses:
1. a 2 point loss to DCA during week 0
2. a signigicant loss to the strongest SS team jackson has seen
3. a 3 point loss to Fayette Academy (JCS turned the ball over 3 times in the red zone) but somehow, FA has made it to everyones top pick?
Also, can somebody tell me why TCA is getting all this hype? Just look at their strenght of schedule! Besides JCS and FA, these guys have played nobody. I predict TCA finishes 8-2 after a loss tomorrow night to FA.
IMO, I think this year will be a repeat of last: It will come down to JCS vs. McKenzie, and everyone will pick McKenzie, but JCS will pull through.
By no means am I for or against Jackson Christian...just some objective observations...
JCS is a good program, no doubt, but they aren't the team they were last year.
They played DCA tough, but this DCA team isn't the same as last season's. They could potentially miss the playoffs with a loss tonight in a 5-2A that's not as strong as it usually is. So that narrow loss isn't as impressive as it was last year when they lost by 1 on the road.
JCS had been plagued by red-zone woes all season, and it's not a coincidence. They've got speed and athleticism, but not much size. The closer you get to the goal line, the tougher it is to score if you can't control the line. Against teams like McKenzie and FA, whose lines are significantly bigger, they'll keep having problems in the red-zone. They don't have the size to line up in the power-I and ram it down your throat this year.
TCA's schedule hasn't been nearly as strong as JCS's, but it's not horrible either. USJ has played a lot of those 7-2A schools tough, Bruceton could be the #2 team in 8-1A, and Wayne Co. is always a playoff team in 5-1A. They're not playing Chopper Liver High. I don't think they're as good as JCS, though, and that was proven in Week 2.
Also keep in mind FA played JCS without their starting QB, who is supposed to return soon if he hasn't already. They're very well-coached and they ALWAYS show up in the post-season. They gave Union City a much tougher game than JCS did last year if you'll remember.
McKenzie has by FAR the best chance to get out of the Region 7 vs. 8 bracket. Tell me this, how do you stop them offensively? Despite all their points last year, they did have trouble scoring against good teams. Not this year, aside from the Peabody game when they only ran 12 times. They've got a near-2000 yard passer and a 1000 rusher, and they've owned their opponents in the 2nd half. In games against Dresden, Huntingdon, Bruceton, Union City, and Lake County, they outscored them 103-22 in the last two quarters. 103-22. There's a reason for that.
I can point out weaknesses on JCS. I'm hard-pressed to do the same for McKenzie. Taking nothing away from the Eagles, but they lost a lot of key players from last year's team.

i hope you dont believe your post, crockett should win with no prob but to say your second team could beat haywood dont be silly, haywood has awsome athleats who any school would love to have, and loosing record and all they are still haywood and they are hungry. if you let haywood hang around they are dangerous. if crockett gets up big sure put the seconds in but dont be silly and risk letting haywood hang around or it will be a long night

haywood 14
haywood is in they have won head up over ripley and obion look at the facts before you post
And you need to make sure you carefully read the posts you quote and bash. crockett56 said the 2nd could not beat Haywood.

Actually, camdenlionpride, you got your underwear in a wad for no good reason.
Gerry said, in a nutshell, "This is how Richland can make the playoffs." Uh, duh, he's going to have to make some assumptions in the favor of Richland to demonstrate that.
Camden has a lot of classy people posting on here, like Lions4ever, that make the team and the community look good. You should learn from them.

"He's giving 110 percent."

Be careful, Gerry. Don't want to show too much Richland bias.

Very classy post, ucdiditagain. Nice to see people with attitudes like yours.

One day, I'd love to see a group of coaches go to the workplace of one of their player's parents, sit down with the head honchos, and be critical of the job they're doing.
