  1. Doaks relys on his turn around jumper and in a year of playing against him and watching this year, if he has his back to the basket, I have never seen him make a post move going to the hole. When those shots aren't falling, he isn't very tough to guard. He has pretty good looking form on his 3's but I wouldn't want him playing out side if I was his coach. Webb and Shane are the best post players in their own regions. Both can score on a jumpers, make moves going to the hole, and play outside. It is going to be an interesting rematch next week after Greenfield finally has a couple wins and some confidence.
  2. Great game by Greenfield. Took away the post play with Doaks and Avery only scoring 6 pts.(I could have swore Doaks got at least 10) They made Trenton's guards beat them and Trenton's back court is not what I expected it to be. They only player I remember from last year is #42. I think Jeremy got his 10 of of free throws. He shot the ball extremely well from the stripe. And for those who think Clint shoots us out of games, last night is a prime example of him not. He 0-8 on 3's and none of them were out of the flow of offense. I think the only things that hurt us last night were free throws and a little to many offensive rebounds for them and no where near enough for us. But other than those three, we played like a team getting back on track.
  3. Greenfield beats Trenton in the nest 56-44. I think that was the score. I know it was by 12. Shane won the battle between him and Doaks. Shane had about 20 and Doaks had about 10. If Greenfield could have hit a free throw this one wouldn't have been close. I bet they missed about 10 or so. Greenfield is now 2-3 and has Gleason Fri. and Milan Sat.
  4. And who the heck are you? What team are you affiliated with?
  5. I saw in The Sporting News (I think it was that magazine) that a player from Fayette-Ware was in the top 100 seniors in the nation I think? I may be wrong about it but if I am right who is he?
  6. I think as long as these two schools are here they will be rivals in anything. Basketball, football, checkers, you name it we want to kill each other. And those are the games that you live to play in. I don't know much about the early 90's because I was too young to remember but since about 97 or so I can tell you that the SF games are always the ones that we circle and look forward to playing. And to add to the plethora of knowledge that I have already dished out, last year and this year were the only times that Greenfield has won in SF's new gym. It isn't that new now but still. I think that makes us about 2-6? I can't remember when it was opened but we lost every one of em except the last 2. And Greenfield is 4-2 in the last 6 meetings at the nest. Not that it has anything to do with us being evely matched, but it shows that home courts are defended very well between us. About Trey being the best to ever come through. I am going to go with Tony Delk only because he is in the NBA and if not for being on the trade block all the time, he might have a chance to gel with a team and be a descent 6th man. And he also had a 50 pt game last year or the year before. Only an opinion though, not to stir up any emotions.
  7. Trenton is the obvious favorite but Halls is close behind. From what I have heard they are playing really well and have more than Strayhorn which is a surprise since last year it was a 2 man show with him and Dewalt. Lake Co. is still young but Whitby more than likely has them playing harder than ever. Bradford has been putting up some points but that is just their style of play. And I watched Middle College last year in the District and they didn't look to be much of a threat.
  8. To early for me to give mine but in no order JCS, West Carroll, Trenton, Huntingdon, Halls, and of course Greenfield (I still have faith). All have been playing well from what I have seen and heard even though some don't have the records to prove it.
  9. Greenfield doesn't play yall til Sat. and has Trenton on Tues. and Gleason on Fri. so I don't think they (or anybody in Greenfield for that matter) is thinking about Sat. But to answer your question, I think that yall probably have the edge in this one as of right now. Greenfield has got a win (finally) under their belt and if they can get by Trenton that should give them a little more momentum. But I am not one to look ahead so more on this later.
  10. Balla, What connection do you have to the team to be saying that Coach trying to get Adrain All State and Mr. Basketball hurt the team's attitude? I played on those teams and we all understood that for us to be successful, Adrain had to shoot. We even had a stretch there his senior year that Adrian was the only person who could take a shot for the first 5 trips unless we were wide open for a layup. Did any of us mind? NO!! It did not hurt anybodies feelings or any attitudes because you know why? WE WANTED TO WIN!! And your statement about Gfield matching up against SF man for man from 98 to 01. Including the post season meetings SF was 9-6 against Gfield. In 98 (Adrain's freshman) Gfield had the edge 3-1 but remember that was his freshman year when he didn't play alot. In 99 it was even 2-2. In 00 SF swept 4-0. And in 01 2-1 in SF's favor. And in that one win for Gfield, Trey didn't play because of a ankle injury, and they still took us to 2OTs. Greenfield beat SF in 98 and 99 in the district championship, and SF beat Gfield in 00 and 01. Gfield beat SF for the region in 98 and SF beat Gfield for it in 99. So as for your theory of us matching up, I don't know. Maybe in 98 when the games were decided by an average of probably about 5 pts and 99 when we split 2-2, but in 00 and 01? Greenfield is going to be fine. This team is just going through a period where they are trying to find themselves after losing Coach. Trust me, this team went 31-6 this summer against alot of AA and AAA teams that would own single A if they played in it. They aren't doing anything different now that they were doing in the summer.
  11. I will agree with balla to an extent that Higgs played with some talent. But that was his freshman year when he didn't play but a couple of minutes a game, and his sophmore year when he really started turning heads. But his junior year all he had to help was Rusty Darby, Johnathan McAdams, and Wesley Huggins. That team went 15-14 but made it to a win away from state thanks to the $ectional fiasco. His Senior year he had no help what so ever. And it showed by the early region quarterfinal exit. The reason Trey was so dominant is because 1) He had lots of help all 4 years except his senior year when he had about as much as Adrian did his Junior year. 2) Well... Simply put like this..... He is Trey. He is just that good. But I do not agree with you about Clint. He has proven lots of time in practice and camp games that he can hit from any where. So hand in face from 10 feet back is his normal range. I never had a problem with Clint shooting the ball from anywhere. I, like everybody else including Brandon, knew that he knew what his role was. We all let him shoot because we knew that he was going to get hot and Coach told all of us that a person who shoots the ball is more dangerous than a person who won't shoot. Clint has except his role which is to look to shoot the ball every time he catches it.
  12. The reason that it looks nothing like last year's team is because it isn't. (stating the obvious) They are missing two players and a coach. This isn't the same team nor is it the same style of play. The reason that last year it was give it to Shane and score is because there was more than two threats to score unlike this year. Last year Summertown focused on him and what happened, Porter and me got 17 a piece. This year it is going to have to be Clint shoot when is can get his feet set and Brandon get the ball down low and score, unlike last year when we had five people that could score. Quit looking for last years team cause it is gone. And I was watching at a summer camp, and Clint was shooting the ball about as much as he is now and making about as much as he is now but was Coach Glisson telling him not shoot any more? Like I said last time TRUST ME, he needs to keep shooting. By the way just curious. Were you even at the game at SF? Because you said it sounded like a poor performance from him?
  13. How many more times am I going to have to say it. For Greenfield to be successful Clint has got to shoot a good number of 3's (whether he is making them or not)because if he doesn't who else is going to score besides Shane. And trust me Clint will get hot at some point in the season and then everybody will be saying that he is the center of the offense. Trust me on this one, he needs to keep shooting.
  14. You are a good one to be telling people to stop putting down teams when they don't know what they are talking about. Yes we have dropped three but these games mean nothing except for polls. But we have a lot of work to do. These guys have yet to live up to the hype and they are more than capable if they get it together. And I was at the West Carroll game and I saw no sign. And "helt" is not a word. Try "held" next time. Congrats on the win against Milan though, really good win for yalls program and always good to see a team from West Tenn in finals in any sport. Good luck with Lipscomb.
  15. Greenfield is obviously not what everyone, including me, expected. Are they overrated, yes. I think that the UC game is not a representation of this team. In the games to DC and West Carroll they played Greenfield basketball and got beat because two plays went the other way. From what I hear and I have seen, they do not really play team ball. It is almost like a pick up game and you can't get very far playing that way unless you are extremely athletic and talented. Also way to many one shot and outs. All three teams that they have played are quality ball clubs. DC is tops in a tough district, West Carroll got beat by Dresden but I guess they didn't play as well against them as they did Greenfield, and Union City, well I guess that one doesn't really have a good excuse but the point is this is really early in the year and they have a lot to deal with. If they can get a win against a good team then maybe they can get some confidence and start to get on a roll. And anyway how much do these games so far really matter except for polls which is probably what this team needs is to be knocked off its high horse and figure out that nothing is going to be handed to them this year. They have a target on their back every night and they have got learn to deal with it. But I am not giving up on these guys though. Nobody thought last year was possible either.
  16. Yeah obviously, just like SF was after it won state. You have a good year and bring a lot of people back and you are going to be in the top.
  17. How many did the the Taylor kid have? Isn't he the one who is suppose to take all the pressure off of Webb?
  18. LOL where are you getting that Humbodlt is on their region or even in single A?
  19. Don't know much about Waverly. We (Greenfield) scrimmaged them last year but I don't remember much and plus that was last year. But people talk like Camden could make a little noise this year so who knows.
  20. Like sls said, the only thing the hurts Trenton is their guard play. Anytime you lose a guy like McCullar who had started all 4 years you are going to take a step backwards. And then they also lost Chase Wilson who was scrappy. As for the offense that Trenton runs, losing McCullar hurt that too because they rely on penetration and the kicking to the post or out for a 3. That is basically what their offense is, drive and kick. It can be very easy to stop but can also be hard to stop because if you play pressure defense and deny passes to the wings there is no help on the drive. You are better of just sagging towards the lane and letting them pass to wing because that is not what they want to do.
  21. I'll take Clint shooting any night because you have to guard him whether he has hit 10 in a row or missed 10 in a row because he is the kind of shooter that if he does get going there is no stopping him. (i.e. Mitchell in Region Final 31 pts.) And like I said in another post, a person who shoots the ball is more dangerous than a person that doesn't. If Clint looks to take only wide open shots with no one any were near him, that lets his man help on Shane and then who is the go to guy now?
  22. First off Clint has no attitude problem. What he has is what we like to call the desire to win. When have it and you work your tail off and things go wrong it can get frustrating. Yes he does have to keep his emotions in check but after the DC game and the way things were going I can see why he let it all out. This is the first time that he has ever done anything like that. Why is it that people want to come on here and start pointing fingers when things start to go wrong? If the call at DC would have gone our way and if the shot last night wouldn't have gone in people would be all happy and on the Greenfield band wagon just like last year. Nobody is at fault for either of these two loses so quit saying that it is Clint's fault for "shooting them out of the game" nobody on the team, not Coach T, not even the go to guy Brandon, has a problem with Clint shooting the ball. Last year I never had a problem with Clint shooting the ball because I knew that he had worked hard and that he wasn't shooting the ball in a me first attitude. For Shane to be our go to guy then Clint has to shoot the ball. If he doesn't then his man helps on Brandon and then our go to guy has been eliminated. Even if he goes 3-20, a guy that will shoot is more dangerous than a guy that won't.
  23. For Greenfield to be successful Clint has to shoot when he can get a open look and get his feet set and squared up. I was at the game and every shot he took was open, set, and squared. The shots just didn't fall. Nobody and I mean NOBODY on Greenfield's team has a problem with him shooting any shot. John Taylor shot better last night because Greenfield never got a hand in his face. They gave him way to many open shots. Teams know that you have to stay close to Clint and he doesn't get many shots without a hand in his face. Greenfield has nothing to worry about. They lost two very tough games to two very good teams. It is still early in the year and these games will mean nothing come Febuary and March.
  24. Seriously man who doesn't look really good against BIG SANDY?
