Did I say a word about last year in that post? How can you make a statement like that when the last post was about this year? Seriously? I am out of Greenfield and see other high school teams play escpecially the Jackson ones. And who in there right mind would leave a team that was State Runner-up and returns players like Shane, Blackburn, and Smith? You are making yourself look really uneducated in the area of basketball. Calling our schedule weak when you don't know it (by the way besides Scotts Hill, BIG SANDY real power houses that yall are playing), saying that we are living on last years run when I never say a word about it, and then saying John left because we are going to be weak.

Weak Schedule? Are you kidding me? We play Dyer Co. twice, @ Union City, Milan twice, @ Westview, @ Obion Central, Liberty Tech twice, Trenton twice. Sounds pretty soft to me. The only fluff games are 2 with Gleason and 2 with Bradford. Now show me a harder 1A schedule. One man show? Com'on man. Seriously. Oh keep playing Scotts Hill and call our schedule weak.

Like everybody said, last year we only played 7 people. This year they have 7 people. We have never had a deep bench but always find a way to pull it out. As for losing John, the players there are not worried about it because Coach T may not have the experience but when you are coaching Shane and Blackburn you can be brand new and they will find a way to win. Anyways I never said yall were a bad team but come on, bragging about beating SCOTTS HILL and Bradford. Are you kidding me?

Don't think that this post is downing Huntingdon because I think when the football players get back they are going to be a solid team and a contender for that region. But I think that a lot of teams second teams can beat Scotts Hill and Bradford. They are not a good representative of what even a average team is in West Tenn. Both are picked last in there district and combined return 1 starter. So don't get your hopes up on the winning season with just your second team.

I heard that there was a couple of teams there on Sat. I know Milan, Greenfield, and JCM were there. Who else was there and how did Greenfield look?

For Greenfield PG's Jeremy Vujicic and Andrew Porter, 2G'sAdrian Higgs and Matthew Gearin, SF's Brandon Shane (plays PF) and Brock Porter, PF BJ Vujicic and Brandon Jones, C Ken Jackson. Most of the wings could be both 2Gs and SFs but this is probably the top 9 that we have had.

They may have got us 2 out of 3 but we got em the one time that mattered the most. And lose the idea that sinced John is gone that this team isn't going to accomplish something. Like I have said in other posts, he left his hard work and hate of losing in a lot of guys that are still there. And one of them is now the head coach.

Is he is good as Avery from Trenton? He maybe. I don't remember him from last year. But after him who else is there to help. There is a whole slew of kids for Trenton that are around Doaks. FYI Perry County isn't the greatest this year. The lost Richardson (4th in Mr. Basketball voting) and the Gray kid who averaged close to 20. They are really young. But congratulations any way. Hope yall have a good year.

You're a good one to be saying let's move on. Face it every player til this year's freshman class is gone is going to be playing just as Coach would want them to play. Coach T has a lot of John in him and this year will be an all out war just like Future said.

I would put Trenton before West Carroll because of who Doaks has around him. Trenton brings back some guards from last year. I don't know of anybody around Webb that will take some pressure off him.

Aight then stick em. I got all the faith in yall. Don't listen to anyone just like last year. We wasn 't suppose to go past the semi's of the region and look what happen. On the Big One's contest we never even got more than 20% of the votes and it probably won't be any different this year. Keep showing people what Greenfield basketball is about. Proving people wrong. I don't think that you should be concerned with a lot about Greenfield. Last year we played only 7 people from the Region Semis to the end so depth isn't really a problem for them. The post defense is in good hands with Galey. He isn't the tallest player around but I have never had anybody play against me in a game as hard as he did against me in practice. As for post scoring I don't have a clue because I wasn't in the gym this summer and I don't know who all was in there working besides Shane, Blackburn, Smith, Lil Blackburn, and Reynolds. Trenton is good but I would not say they will keep Greenfield from going to state. If we both win our district, which probably will happen, we will be opposite in the brackets and meet in the championship. Loser does travel but our region has sent two teams to state the last two years so take that how you want it. And about last year, don't say our win was a fluke because of officiating or what gym it was played in. We beat the #5 (Trenton), #6 (Mitchell), and #3 (Adamsville) in that order and then won two games at state against a Summertown team that shot the ball horrible and a good USJC team and then had Temple on the ropes for a little more than a half. In Greenfield we don't call that luck. We call it wanting to win more than the other team does.

Mitchell is 2A now.

Who are the pre-season favorites?

Doaks was a lot tougher last year. Both are really good but I think that last year he was the best center in either region. I haven't seen either play since then so I my opinion is based on last year.

Look out for Brandon Shane and Clint Blackburn of Greenfield. Brandon was first team West Tenn and made the Tenn Sports Writers All State last year and has gotten better and stronger over the summer. Clint made third team West Tenn and made the state tournament team. He is as good a shooter as anybody in both regions.

Trenton and Adamsville both can be right up there. Trenton was #5 in the state towards the end last year and is going to be loaded with Doaks and Avery in the post. Adamsville was #3 in the same poll. They lost Qualls and Perkins but bring back TJ Robinson and Dominique Shoat(spelling?). I don't have a clue about any of the other teams in your top ten except for Greenfield, Temple, and South Fulton but I know that Trenton and Adamsville are just as good.

I swear on my grave that I have no clue what this problem is that you say he has. If there is a problem I will stink it up and tell you that you are right but until then don't tell me that I know something when I don't. As for everything else, I have never said one time that John shouldn't be fired. He isn't above everyone else just because he is one of the top coaches in West Tenn if not the state. So stop making it look like I am defending his actions. Hopefully he can learn from this and move on. And nobody gained from this situation like sik wit it is saying. It was not who you think it is that turned him in from going to practice. Trust me I DO know that. There wasn't a person who gained from this. Greenfield lost a heck of a coach and has to play this year and maybe more to come with a cloud over it's head. It is going to be a tough year for them but all of John isn't gone. He left every bit of his hard work and his hate of losing in guys like Clint, Brandon, Thomas, and Jeremy. So don't think for a minute these guys are going to let this get in the way of going back to Murfreesboro.

Did I once in my post say that he souldn't be fired? No he made a mistake and even I think that he should pay for it. So don't try to make it look like I am defending his actions cause I am not. I defended him last year when he was suspended because people came on here and didn't tell the whole story not because I was saying he shouldn't be suspended. And I am doing the same now. Slamdunker is talking like he has been a convict or a criminal for years he is not anywhere near either. He is a human being who made a mistake and he is going to have to accept the consequences for it. I am not playing dumb. I just want to know what other second chances he has been given because my "real dad" would have told me if there is any.

Slamdunker54 who are you? And other than last year's deal what other second chances has he been given? You say this is one of the many of problems that have follwed him through the years. As a member of the team since 99 and him being almost my dad I think I would know what the "problems" you are talking abou but other thatn last year I have no clue what you are talking about.

What do you mean who is Greenfield? We finished runner-up last year at the State tournanment. Oh thats right yall weren't there. Greenfield has a great chance at going back to the Boro. They bring back everybody but two starters. Trenton is going to be loaded also. Doaks and Avery are as good as any two post players in single A.

The tall black guy from Trenton is Nicheaus Doaks. (I think that is how you spell it) Trenton will be tough with him and Ben Avery down low. Both have great turn around jumpers and would be even better if the would try a post move. Greenfield will also be tough with Shane and Blackburn. Both are already in the gym every day and night working hard. And don't forget about Jeremy Smith. Last year was out there for mainly his defense but will be a scoring threat this year. Another name is Halls' Dane Strayhorn. I don't know who else they have but he is one of the best single A players in West Tenn if not the state. [Edited by jvaughan on 4-25-03 11:22A]
