  1. I knew it too but like I said. Can you think of any reason that every year we already know Alcoa wins it. 7 Straight and don't even "play competition according to them" for some mysterious reason? The only team they can use for an excuse that did beat them is.. Oh wait a private school..

    So you're saying they recruit...

  2. That is a classless statement! We play were we have too the County doesnt even recognize us as part of it half the time, took us 20 yrs and a lot of emails and sitting in on county meetings to get that new school that is being built to the side of "THE DUMP",GBs tradition and love for its football team is why some people as you say love it and some hate it,but its ours and our kids and community love it.We cant do anything but keep it clean and throw some paint on it everynow and again. They have been some really good teams come into the"dump" and leave very dissapointed, your just lucky i am a pretty cool character because that is almost like slappin my momma! We love it and our boys try their best to defend it every Fri night.Back to the game-crow,Kaz they one thing this crew can do is what Oneida has has trouble with in the past, they can run the football got some big boys as i said before not very athletic but nonetheless they are big.I still take OHS and 14.Good luck boys and after Littlebears comment i really hope you all open up a whole can on them.

That's not all Tellico fans.  Been to many games at Greenback as a player, coach at Tellico and in general as a visitor. Been to a lot of facilities all across the South East that I would call a dump, but I would not consider Greenbacks' a dump.

To game, I believe this is a close game, not having saw Tellico play all year, but talking to a lot of people, they are a solid team.  I hope they pull the victory out and whoever wins, it will probably be a 1 score game, along the lines of 21-13.

    Go Bears!!

  3. From the Advocate & Democrat:

The jamboree will be held at Tellico Plains.

Each high school has advance tickets for sell at $5 each. All schools get to keep 100 percent of their own pre-sold ticket profit.

There will be a pass gate near the Alumni Center/Greenhouse for players, coaches, and cheerleaders to enter. Only players and cheerleaders in uniform will be allowed in the pass gate. The gate price without pre-purchase is $7.

The games will have specific start and end times. Juniors will have a 14-minute running clock with one timeout per team and per quarter. High school teams will have the same rules only 20-minute quarters. Extra points and field goals are live plays, but punting is a free play. The juniors will play first, followed by the high school teams. Here are the start times as follows:

•6:30 p.m.: Juniors 1st quarter Vonore vs. Madisonville.

•6:50 p.m.: Juniors 2nd quarter Sweetwater vs. Tellico.

•7:10 p.m.: Juniors 3rd quarter Polk County vs. Englewood.

•7:30 p.m.: Juniors 4th quarter Central vs. Athens

•7:50-8:10 p.m.: Juniors individual competitions and high school competitions.

•The competitions will be punting, passing, kicking, 40-yard dash for skill positions, lineman dash (250 lb. requirement). Each event will be competed by junior players first, then by high school players.

•8:10 p.m.: High school 1st quarter Meigs County vs. Polk County.

•8:40 p.m.: High school 2nd quarter Sequoyah vs. Sweetwater.

•9:10 p.m.: High school 3rd quarter McMinn Central vs. Tellico Plains.

  4. Region 2-2A ALCOA,AE,GRACE,OS,ROCKWOOD,SWEETWATER,TELLICO,

    REALLY? HOPEFULLY THIS ANT RIGHT

It will probably happen. AE, and Grace were not part of the disrtict, but it is similar to the one that was used in the late 90s, early 2000s. Before TP, Polk, etc, decided to move up to 3-A.

of course moving up to 3-A in this alignment for TP being a bad idea, facing the likes of

    Region 3-3A

    CAK

    Kingston

    Loudon

    McMinn Central

    Scott High

    Region 4-3A

    Chattanooga Central

    East Ridge

    Grundy Co.

    Hixson

instead of Alcoa, AE, Grace, etc. lots of speed there.

Glad to be moving back to TN next month.

  5. I wouldn't expect anything until after the holidays. They go on Thanksgiving break this afternoon and then Christmas Break is in 2-3 weeks, probably with a hectic schedule.

Interviews could happen over the next couple of weeks, or right before the spring semester begins. I have interviewed places before the semester began.

Patience, a coach will be in place.

  6. Hard to have names when no teaching positions are open. (http://www.monroe.k12.tn.us/jobs/)

I had heard the entire staff resigned, not sure about that though. I haven't been in since August.

Many people (especially outsiders) look at Tellico as one of two things:

    1. Stepping stone - If I can turn it around, I can go to a bigger/better school.

    2. Career killer - If I take this job, it will probably be my last/only chance to be a HC.

There are a few people I wish were interested but probably not going to happen.

  7. Anyone seen Tellico's new weight room? High five to athletic director and administrators. Should probably give hand to supporters also. Huge improvement over old weight room and should pay big dividends to future teams.

It goes beyond the AD that is currently there. This project began at least 7-8 years ago. Donnie Kelley amongst others began that project. I remember DK working tirelessly on fundraising for the project.

Ed Phillips working tirelessly within that building to get it built. And many others working so hard to get the project up for all of the students.

I know there are numerous people that contributed to that building that I did not mention and most people seem to tend to forget when it comes to that building.

  8. I don't want to get in the middle of hypotheticals, but keep in mind that the entire time Tellico was in Region 3-3A for football and District 5-AA for other sports, they were actually playing up in class due mainly to travel. Some schools in their old district/region were twice as big. So "dropping down" actually meant Tellico was finally playing in the right classification again.

Football was the only sport playing up a level. It was for travel as well as for other reasons.

The rest of the sports were playing at the level designated by the state.

  9. [quote name='"bigbearsfan

...like Don Swanson' date=' but he should not be calling the plays.... I still wish we had guys like Gordon Kelley, Donnie Kelley, and Coach Mac on our staff.

Don't get on here and bad mouth the coaches that are there and promote people that have moved on or retired from coaching. It is easy for those people sitting in the stands to criticize when they don't go through the practices and know what the player can and cannot do or watch the film. Trust me I dealt with it. If people have a problem with those coaching, go get a degree and get a job as a teacher and a coach. Watching college and NFL games doesn't make you an expert...

I commend everyone on the staff for the work they did this year with a great group of seniors and some talented younger classmen. Good luck next year.

Coach Hunt is right person for this job, I have said that for a very long time. Even my last day I told all the players to stick with him, he is the right coach for them, they will turn the corner.

I know who this is, some the people listed are your family....I think all three of the people listed are great coaches and great people but they have moved on with their lives, so should you regarding them as coaches. Maybe it's time to start looking at the new line of coaches coming through.

    Go Bears!

    End rant.

  10. I dunno, but I have thought about going. It is a shorter drive for me to go to Hampton (3 hrs) than it is to Tellico (6 hrs), hit I-26 and go....

I figure the players parents will go and they may even take a "pep bus" for students. Other than that I say a few stragglers will go....my guess is about 75-100. Now I could be wrong

  11. Hampton traditionally has a good program, usually well coached, and their players usually play solid football. TP is in a resurgence year, playing with good balance, defense plays with good intensity and is well coached, offense has the big play capability.

TP by close margin. Even a D. McKenzie PAT could be the difference. 13-12/21-20ish.

Glad it is a lot of fans chirping around on here, because both sides players really shouldn't say much on here. Talk on the field with helmets and shoulder pads, to many people hide behind aliases.
