Manual- 1/400- F1.8- ISO 1600, Automatic White Balance, AI Focus- Center Focus

with the EF 85mm set to Auto Focus

Were you on the gym floor when you took these. And how far away were you? Did you do alot of cropping or just zoom in while you're taking the shot? I enjoy taking pictures, but am along way from where you guys are!

  2. I for one am very confused as to why a coach would say something like this. If you have spoken to the coach and he doesnt deny that he made the statements then i would definitely take it to the next level. However as a coach myself, i find it hard to believe that any coach would say that as we all want our players to play hard and play their best as it makes the "team" better. I am also aware of the "favoritism" that happens in some programs where a player is played above someone who is better than them just because he or she might be in a lower grade. As a parent, if i didn't get the correct answers that i felt not only i could live with but more importantly that was fair to my child i would just transfer the child out and let the coach compete against him/her.

I agree with Del. But i am only a parent. i would try to stay non confrontational and find out all the facts. if necessary, i would move and let the coach compete against her.

  3. If you haven't had problems with your ankles previously, then you really shouldn't wear ankles braces b/c the braces will actually make your ankles weaker than before. Now I will say that they do help keep your ankles from turning and schools are taking out the risk of waiting until someone turns an ankle before making them wear the braces but once you wear them then you always have to wear them b/c if you don't then you have a 60% chance of rolling them with greater damage than if you had never worn them and rolled your ankle the same way. The reason for this is your ankle becomes dependent on the brace and weakens b/c it doesn't have to be as strong. So if you haven't worn them before and have had no problem then continue what you're doing but if you have had problems get you a pair and don't play w/out them again.

Perhaps I am behind the times, and i'm not saying you are wrong, but what expertise do you have to make these statements?

  4. Congratulations... I think COMMUNICATION should be included in all coaching classes. Whether you "talk" about it here on CoachT is entirely up to you. But, in my opinion, HONEST COMMUNICATION with players AND parents is the best way to encourage your team. It only takes ONE mis-spoken word that ONE player or parent isn't included in to destroy your entire team. Good luck for the season! :thumb:

  5. Sorry to bend your beak MsQuack...you gotta spend more to do football..it ain't easy...poor light..stopping action...Have much more invested in my camera and lens I use for football, and have a hard time...Canon Rebel is cheapest I know of...$600-$800 and that's no pro camera...lens is extra.....cost more than the camera..

i tried to pm you about this instead of changing the subject. but it didn't go through. please pm me and let me know what camera, lens, etc you would recommend for basketball. of course, i'm assuming you enjoy all sports.

    thanks

  6. I would also like to give a quick shout out to Camden's Marching Band, they did not march, but they were at the game showing their full support for their team. They showed class and school spirit.

Thanks for coming out guys! You were great!

    [/quote

I guess wet fields affects everyone. THanks to both bands for showing their school spirit. Lewis county band did march. did anyone notice, several of them fell during halftime?

  7. OK, this is way off the original topic, and maybe it ought to be it's own thread, but....

If all you have are 4 classes a day, Basketball practice should NEVER be an option for the 4th class.

If you are interested in going to college, you should be using your class schedule to get prepared for college. Or do some other "activity class", like Annual Staff, but NOT a sport practice.

    My Opinion.

As far as the other, if they transferred under the rules, then why they transferred is their own business. As far as teaching lessons, maybe the lesson the parents are teaching the girl is that I will stand up for you, if I can make it happen. Honestly, most families can't or won't be able to make the move these two families have evidently made.

2 years from now, these girls are going to be in college, hopefully looking back on an enjoyable finish to their high school experience. Good luck to them.

sorry, i didn't mean to change the subject but now i understand, you're saying that they shouldn't practice during school time. not just 4th block, but no block at all. sorry, i misunderstood!

  8.

As far as academics go; 4th period in block schedule should not be basketball~ Those coaches don't give the kids college futures a second thought. If they did; they would better prepare them academically.

    :D

what i want to know is why 4th block shouldn't be basketball? Our girls did not practice 4th block. but i always thought it would be better, because they could continue practice after school without having to change clothes twice a day when they had to practice after school anyway.

  9. Perhaps, just perhaps, that "smile" is her game face. The "fake" (the other team didn't know it was fake) smile that my daughter put on was to say "I'm ok and that mistake won't happen again.

But it does drive my husband (her dad) crazy. He can't see how smiling and laughing is taking it seriously :thumb:

  10. And I am saying that a lot of young girls will never become "passionate" about vb if they have to wear those pants and, to me, it should not be a factor because there is no real need for the pants to look that way.

I agree with coacht. However, our school board does not allow spandex. They do allow those "cheerleader" shorts. The problem arises when the shorts (spandex or not) are too tight and do not fit properly (just as in any clothing).

You can not fit a size 14 (normal) into a size 10 (small) in any type clothing, shorts, tops or well... anything!

  11. As a former cheerleading coach and wife of the head football coach, I soon learned that if the cheerleaders did not involve the crowd at a critical moment or the band played at the wrong time, I would hear about it that night. It wasn't long before the band director and I joined forces, with me signalling band chants and cheers from the stands at critical moments as my husband was calling plays from the sidelines. In 20 years of coaching, I was rarely able to depend on my squad to understand the necessity of using one word chants such as "De-fense, de-fense. de-fense etc." at a critical moment, rather then a long, involved cheer that the crowd cound not hear or understand because they were standing yelling De-fense!

Do I believe that cheerleaders, bands, concession stands, annoying announcers and little kids playing football with a crumbled coke cup add to the atmosphere of a football game - of course I do, and it wouldn't be the same without them. But with all that said, the reason for Friday night is THE GAME.

I believe that cheerleaders are there to get the crowd up for the game. Cheerleaders should know the game well enough to know the difference between offense and defense. 1Fan must have been a good cheerleader coach to get the band and cheerleaders on the same page. No need for a cheering section the band could be it.

I don't think the cheerleaders should face the field. They need to face the crowd to "lead" the cheers. Cheerleaders facing the field just gets them ignored by both the crowd and the players. How many football coaches want their players watching the cheerleaders during the game!!
