I was wrong by 2 yards lol. The only problem I see with Meigs offense is that QB power the coach is in love with that play. To me, Swafford's arm is too good not to go 5 wide and throw the ball all over the field.

If I can run and beat you that's what id do 85% of the time..but the 15% I threw would count...lol..thats just me though.

  2. I would like to see them promote David Barger from assistant to the head coaching position. He has 10+ successful years of head coaching experience. His wife is the basketball coach so he isn't going anywhere and he has a excellent football and coaching mind. He's a veteran coach that kids gravitate to and given a opportunity will have Stewarts Creek playing a new brand of exciting and winning football. Other coaches will like working for him because he's a team player...and cares!

True but Meigs has a problem with speed their defense is very good up the middle but if a team has speed and can get to the outside they can beat Meigs. The QB on Meigs is very good but he won't hurt you with his legs as long as you have speed on defense which in sire SP has.

You make a very good point. Speed can be a devastating factor. I haven't watched Meigs play but to be as good as they are without speed tells me they play very good technique ..which is a must vs speed. You have to play very discipline defense vs SPHS. You also better bring your big boy pants and hit them or your beat. South Pittsburgh could very well win this game. I was just running my mouth giving a opinion...lol

    Yes sir!

Meigs beats Greenback and South Pittsburgh...IMO. They apparently have a Mr. Football difference maker! I just think next year will be Meigs year..just a feeling?? I think South Pittsburgh will make a run in 1A..but head to head Swafford is the difference.

It had a good mix of tough teams, average teams, and well the other ones that they kind of have to play. I believe SP has a shot in the east, but at this point I’m not betting on running the table with that schedule.

Even if you do lose a game it would probably be Meigs or Red Bank. Neither hurt anything but pride..no playoff damage and tough valuable knowledge hopefully learned. If you win them you just serve notice to Greenback, Cornersville..Huntington..etc.

I really like there schedule. The addition of Meigs and Red Bank will be good test. It's good to see Red Bank playing some of the valley teams. I just wish they were going to South Pittsburgh to get the valley atmosphere too! They will be surprised at there place when SPHS brings as many people as they will have or more. It's also good to see Grundy back against at least one valley team they haven't been playing.

Did you even read it? Where did you miss the part where I said that I've never been to a Cornersville football game? You indignant winners are worse than a whining loser any day of the week.. I was pretty much saying that two worthy teams played, and that one won, one lost, and that the "what if's" didn't matter. From there I congratulated the losing team, and gave them a fans perspective. Everyone can't understand the true meaning behind some posts I guess... you gave your opinion of my post, and I'm a little embarrassed for you for it... just move along.

    My bad

Both teams had the wind at their back for half the game. This thread is full of "what if's" and "I would have's", but we all have the luxury of knowing the outcome of every play we're picking apart. Both teams played excellent football, both made a few mistakes, and both were good enough to win... one mistake by Cornersville cost them one point, and that decided the game. I don't know of many plays the Cornersville Coach would like to do over in order to change his call, and I'd bet that there have been very few games across the state this entire season with fewer. Despite the disparity in yardage gained, these were two very evenly matched teams who played a very close game until the final whistle. People are fond of saying that there are no such thing as moral victories. I disagree with that in principal, but in this case their right... the Bulldogs came out of the shadows last season, demolished most opponents for two years running, and came up a single point short...no moral victory. Having said that, this group has changed Cornersville football from homecoming queen, into a program to be feared by all of 1A/2A. I'm sure that Cornersville has always supported their team, but I'm just as sure that now that support has grown, that the Bulldog program will continue to see that in the stands (and boosters), and to reap the rewards in facilities.

To the Bulldog players... You will forever be the team that put your school, community, and football program on the map. You will forever be the bunch of young men who set the standard, inspired the younger kids, motivated your entire town, and gained the highest level of respect from the entire state. I have never been to a Cornersville football game, but I was sick for you players and your fans that you didn't hold that gold ball... before you feel that you have let yourselves or the community down, you need to understand the enormous gift that you have given your fans. You have filled their Friday nights with positive emotions... they have cheered, laughed, yelled, high fived, and lived your victories with you, and you have brought them together as one. They are heartbroken right now, but here's the part that you players don't understand. They are not heartbroken for themselves. Until you one day sit in the stands alongside your fans and families, and feel the pride in watching your little brother, cousin, son, grandson, neighbor, or someone that you don't even know wearing your school colors with the same pride that you have, you won't understand that the pain felt now is for the young men that have given so much to them and asked nothing in return. They know the level of effort, desire, brotherhood, and pride that you all have played with because they have felt it, and the cost that comes with that when you lose, because they have felt that, not so much for themselves, but for you. Keep your heads up boys...you are the true hometown hero's.

You guys have a good team but my gosh. You won ever stat but the scoreboard...you needed to score 8..not 6. I know it's hard...the "what it's" and "should haves" are getting old. You lost a game you couldn't close because of the determination of Whitwells players. That's why it was such a good game..Whitwell "refused to lose!"

It will be one of them in Cookeville, but I expect the west to be even stronger than it has been the past two years.

From what I got out of here and we know coacht is the wealth of football knowledge..lol. Huntington should be good. They talked like Lake County was young this year..so watch for them. I think Cornersville lost a lot?? Not sure?? If Rice has anything at Wayne County then he will make them good.
