  1. Me and my son watched it last night- WOW- that was truly inspiring! Another one of those (total out of body experiences I would say). He just floated around the track, and then walked off so elegantly. He wasn't falling down from exhaustion or anything, just did his job and then left! ;) I love that! The way it should be every time.

Yes, and like always, he was smiling the whole time...

  2. In what was billed as the worlds fastest prep 2 miler, BAs Andrew Bumbalough outkicked Shadrack Kiptoo (yes- hes Kenyan) with a 61 second last quarter to win the Arcadia Invitational in 8:49 (full 2 miles, so more like an 8:45-46 3200)- WOW!

  3. Jordan backed his 10.90 100 at state last year with a 10 .85 at Campbell Thursday and in his first open 400 he ran a 52 flat and a 22.9 in the 200 he has already running times he ran midseason last year and looks to run a sub 48 400

How does running a 52 open 400 equate to the possibility of a sub 48? Do you realize how fast 47.9 is?

  4. Hey, I just found Im unable to make polls (probably since Im not a plus member) but anyway, Im going to form my own poll then:

    Who will Win District 11a?

    Christ Presbyterian Academy 0

    David Lipscomb High School 0

    Donelson Christian Academy 0

    East Literature Magnet School 0

    Ezell-Harding Christian School 0

    Franklin Road Academy 1

    Goodpasture Christian School 0

    Hume-Fogg Academic Magnet 0

Martin Luther King High School 0

Youll See that I have a 1 beside FRA- please quote my post and update the poll based on your vote (Who wants to bet on how long itll take before some CPA guy adds "The Third" to the poll and gives him some ridiculous amount of votes?) Anyway, also give reasons please.

I think there are four teams that could legitimately win (HFA, FRA, DLHS, and DCA) and since I play for FRA, Im going with them. It should be a really intense competition...

  5. What is the best type of tennis court to play on?

    Asphalt...Grass...Clay...Indoor...etc

Personnaly I like clay because it really slows down the game dynamics and makes it more fun to try to hit trick shots

I, too, like clay but for different reasons. I think it allows the ball to slow more off the bounce and gives more time for shot preparation- making every shot a little easier to see and swing at than on hard surfaces. I tend to hit more winners on clay...

  6. I hope this doesnt become another Bumbi thread, but hes the best track runner in the state, and maybe one of the top 10 distance runners in the nation. His PRs (as best I know) are:

    400-52.0 (open) relay 52.2

    800 1:56-1:57low

    1600 4:15.9 (relay)

    mile 4:16.03 (Fat) (4:14 1600)

    3200 9:13

    3 mile 14:44

    5k 14:58 (14:20 something 3mile)

*note: 3 mile is at SC not the three mile split of macalpine

from his 52, its obvious he isnt just a long distance guy (the 52 was in a practice meet too, so im sure hes faster now), hes fast enough to win the maximum number of running events at state this year (3) and he very well could.

  7. I'm not sure if you all consider Sullivan Central as east TN (where exactly is Sully Central? Near Knoxville?)...but a freshman named Katye Stone burned a 11:56 3200m last weekend...that's pretty swift.

    Thats my vote too

  8. ouch... the truth sometimes hurts

Hey, where was the Third at the match today? I saw him, but I seemed to miss the earth shaking, bowel moving, monstrous capabilities he exhibits...

  9. coasterboarder,or should i say cowan?yes that was DL's 4x8 team that won state last year and is what they will run with this year.you say the other 2 legs besides yourself and im guessing the kid in the glasses are up for grabs???then who else can fill those 2 spots?david?i didnt think he was an 800 runner is there anyone else out there for yall?as far as DL goes your right it should be close this year and i hope so bc its much more fun that way.also only 1 of dl's runners has been training siince track season has begun.1 of them has had a broken bone in his foot,1 has a torn acl(but is still running on it),and 1 has just gotten back from basketball,so yes youre right we do have alot of ahead of us.i hope u find your four guys soon and we get to run against yall again and see how we stack up!should be just as fun as the highland games!oh and do u think they will move u to last leg?oh well good luck to yall

I dont even know if Ill run the 4x8 in section this year- I want to though. If I do, we have a sprinter we converted to 4x8, so he'll take the opening leg, and so I guess it would either be me or the glasses guy in anchor. Based on McCallie times (4x8 and open 8), our combined PR 4x8 is down to 8:26- 2 seconds off your championship time. Also, Elizabethton just ran an 8:29, so its looking like state could be the closest ever. Good Luck, and lets keep each other up to date when we get new relay results....

  10. this is a board for tennis players and fans to discuss tennis... if you don't like the topic, start a new thread or go back to the track forum

O, im sorry- i thought the title of the thread was best teams, not best player no ones ever heard of from CPA...

  11. i just got back from the scott hartman relays in brentwood. their track seemed very short. times were the same though, i dunno something about some tracks seem short

Brentwood as in BA? because their track is unusual since it has very long curves and short straights. Every track differs in length of straights and curves, but i would imagine they all at least come very close to 400m

  12. Just curious- do you know who was on DLHS's Highland Games 4x8? Do you have 800m runners faster than them? that was a good close race between FRA an DL...

Hmm, Im going to hope that this was just overlooked, not ignored, so Ill top it- Ill go ahead and tell you that FRA had its top 2 800 runners in their 4x8, and the other two spots are up for grabs. I was just wondering if DL had a group of 4 studs somewhere they were going to surprise us with or if the team at the highland games was it, because if thats your team, it should be some good competition between FRA and Dl this year. If not, well- I guess youll run away with state again this year.

  13. Another place that doesnt have the best track is Briarcrest (I think thats the name?). Yes, the host of the State meet. I was dissapointed last year- but at least they did a better job than they do with CC. Actually, my memorys pretty tainted because I thought the meet was run well, but I think they actually did have a nice track.

The best highschool track Ive run on is probably McCallie, but Im sure there are nicer facilities somewhere...

  14. Elizabethton has an up-and-coming distance program, surprising many with a second place finish at state CC this year. I watched their progress throughout the season, and I was one of the few who expected their success- definately watch out for them in track. They obviously have a very good coach and a lot of trust in the system.

Sullivan Central has several talented distance runners as well- Ive never heard much about either's non-distance squad. Im not a big SC fan due to past encounters, but theyve put together a solid distance program this year. They seemed to have been plaqued by injuries this past CC season (who wasnt?) but they surely will be strong in track this year.

  15. I personally have a pair of adidas which feel like Im wearing socks. Besides being comfortable, they also support my foot well and are very light. I would suggest going to a running specialized store and asking them what would fit your foot best, then trying several on until one fits well. Ive worn new balance, nike, and adidas, and like them all, so just find one that fits.
