  1. Consistency in officiating was definitely an issue during this match...I might see where JC fans were a little thrown off by the fact that the officials started calling more touch fouls on them during the 4th, sending CHS to the line, and ultimately sealing the deal; however, most of those fouls were made during the last 3 min of the game in an effort to stop the clock. As for the Lady Buffs, they encountered this throughout the game. Fouls started mounting about 2 min into the 2nd quarter, and created an overall nervousness in their play. Im not certain if the girls from Jackson Co. were nervous, and if so I have know idea why; from what I can tell by many of the posts from JC fans, it seems they feel their team was just having an "off night". IMO, I felt the officials offered the JC two great opportunities to get themselves back in the ballgame. Once in the second quarter, in which the lead was cut to 2 points by halftime; and another in the second half, which happened not to be the time JC needed it most...during those last few minutes of play. In reality, Clarkrange is the team to beat...just as JC was last year. CHS has gained experience and (thank God) the speed they lacked last year. JC fans should be concerned with officiating, just as CHS fans; inconsistency hurts every body involved. The players eventually wind up playing timid and it makes it very difficult to learn from there mistakes...it is hard to learn from mistakes when you arent sure what they are : ) This early in the season, every one is just trying to become a better team. The real wins come in post season. TSSAA isnt helping our athletics when they allow faulty officiating to take place over and over...it's not fair to these young ladies and there needs to be more accountability on their part.
  2. This is an excellent rivalry! Watched the Lady Buffaloes last night, and was really impressed. However, we all know how district 7-A is; no one can let their guard down. A team such as Clay County, who has earned a great reputation throughout the state could easily knock off any top ranked team, even if they may be the underdog (absolutely no pun intended). I'd really be surprised if CHS takes the Lady Dawgs, who already have some good wins under their belt, by more than 20. But CCHS will definately have to bring their "A" game to triumph...I think that is true for anyone going up against this squad. I do believe the Lady Buffs have the stars aligned for them this year, but a lot of things can happen between now and February. Players start stepping up, benches start getting deeper. And remember, intimidation goes both ways. Playing at Clay Co. (or Celina as it was back in the old days), has never been something Clarkrange has taken lightly. Hopefully, it will be a good, clean called game both teams can learn from. I probably won't make the road trip, but I am looking forward to hearing the outcome.
  3. Sorry about your loss RBS. Being a 7A 'alumna', as well as a fan, I'd rather see a familiar team advance, especially a team that had improved so much over the season (which you showed during the Districts.) Be proud. I have to admit I was a little discouraged on district finals night when a select group of RBS fans cheered on Celina when Clarkrange played them. In the district tourny it is kind of like a war, everyone fights for their own cause, however in this war there are no allis, but that's all water under the bridge. Unsportsman-like actions come with the game alot of times, might as well look over them even though they can be a pain. Hopefully, Clarkrange can avenge this 7A loss, that is if we beat Gordonsville tonight, by taking care of Westmorland on Wednesday. GOOD LUCK LADY BUFFALOES!!!!!
  4. Just wanted to take the opprotunity to cheer on all the gals in 7A. I got to see the 2nd half of RBS and Monterey the other night in the finals. What a great game, good job to both teams. Even though I'm hardcore Clarkrange fan, and was disappointed with our performance, I have to hand it to Celina. They have a well-rounded team with a great coach. Hopefully will see them again soon. Good luck in the regionals 7A...and especially to the Lady Buffaloes!
  5. Just a few words to those of you who think you are wise... Before you run off with your opinions and claims of who is the best team, the best player(s), the worst officiating, etc. etc., think about what you are saying. I read almost daily the words that are written on this board. Mostly I read to stay informed of the goings-on in 7-A basketball, however I find myself more than fired up about that good ol' tradition that this district has made. What I have read on this thread has really bugged me. I try to refrain from putting my opinion on here, for the fact that I might say something to offend someone, especially a player. But it seems that most of you don't mind talking about girls that you don't know and have probably never played ball against. It is common to use the refs as a security blanket when your team loses. I've done it my self in the past. But I can't recall ever underestimating a player who I hadn't seen play more than 2 or 3 times a year. I have played against both Holly Wright and Michelle Snow, as well as watched them play. They are both good players, and I hope niether of them read this board. Snow especially, due partly to the fact that a Celina fan wrote on this thread that she was basically incapible of playing basketball all together...I think the word Clumsy was mentioned.( although it was misspelled). I guess talking bad about Snow was his/her way of dealing with Celina's 16 point loss. Competition makes basketball fun. Sounds like Celina fan's were having a real good time beating (mostly)teams that weren't very competitive. My advice to you is to keep on finding excuses that can mend this wound, because I know we would all hate it if you didn't make it to the district tourny'. [Edited by buffy42 on 1-15-03 3:03P]
