  1. littlemn88, You have absolutely lost your mind. There is no way Coach Julian will leave Halls for Central. The Halls job is the only job he really wanted.
  2. wild rooster, What do you mean Coach Mac is the rightful aire, just like Julian and Lowe? Are you talking about him being the replacement for Helton, just because he coaches and played there?
  3. If rooster is right and he must be cause he posted just before leaving school, the sale on sun visors just sky rocketed in Powell. So it ain't so Joe, Helton is leaving Central? Guess the DC will finally get a chance to prove his self.
  4. I bet the man is PO'd about players getting on here and running their mouths. Practice should be fun, fun, fun. Oh, golden arm, that includes U.
  5. Thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Majors and his family at this time.
  6. One million, excuse me's, no where did you say you feel sorry, simply you feel for the Powell AD and Prin. What is so stressful about hiring Matt Lowe and moving on? Now when you say stressful, hmmmm, sounds like the powers to be don't want to hire Coach Lowe just yet! the correct term: "stress of the process they are going through"
  7. Why do you feel sorry for the PHS AD and Prin? Hire the local guy and get ready for spring practice. Enough said!
  8. What does this statement mean, "He made a lot of the point decisions on Friday night anyway". If you are the offensive coordinator, don't you call the plays that either result in yards gained, lost, or points scored? The coaches job is to call the play, the players job is to execute what is called. I would venture to say that there are a lot of great coordinators that get the attention because they have players doing the correct things time and time and time again.
  9. I agree with voldad except I pick McEwen to upset WHH and Petroni. And he will be sick for a month about it.
  10. This question will be for both boys and girls games. When are the games going to be played? If tomorrow nights games are canceled, when do they play? Will they kick all of the games back a day? If anyone knows, holla back.
  11. They should sign my boy, Clay Head, Jo Byrns. Good QB, good DB, great person.
  12. I heard Helton said the same thing about this time last year.
  13. First of all congrats to Big John Vandergriff for winning the state heavyweight championship last night in the Choo-Choo town. This is what his dad did 29 & 30 years ago. To Coach V. may you always remember the thrill of watching your son climb to the top of the ladder and stand proudly as a champion. God bless you and your entire family.
  14. I never said anything about his coaching ability. From what I have seen, he is an excellent coach. Now when you get to his attitude and how he has made everybody in the district mad at him - well that's a horse of a different color.
  15. I think margotfos is headed down the right track. With 9 teams in the district you have to have a play-in game. I think all district games were supposed to be finished by Tuesday, 14th, but snow earlier changed some games. Couldn't very well have a district meeting a day after having a play-in game, now can you? Is the name Petroni an Italian heritage name - if so I bet its true meaning is HOT DOG.
  16. biggcat, Two questions for you. 1) How does one correctly spell b i g, 1 g or 2 g's? (Maybe it's because of your gutt) 2) How in the world do people your age stay up until 3:54 am to post on this thread?
  17. allcountypatriot5815, Doesn't this mean that Mr. Slagle will have to sit out two games before he can play in the district tournament? If so, that means ya'll have to beat McEwen just so he can play on Friday. Rotsa Ruck Bubba! How is Petroni feeling? Someone said he was "under the weather"? Was that from the loss or did he catch the flu bug from not playing the game on Thursday nite? Remember this - what goes around, comes around!
  18. CoachF, Congrats on your win tonight over Petroni (ha). I don't know how, when, where the coin toss came down, but congrats on that also. I will attend the games this week at Clarksville Academy. I will make sure to shake your hand and congratulate you personally on your DELAYED victory vs. WHH. Your and your players hard work paid off with your victory. Thank goodness someone had class in tonight's game. See ya Thursday (hopefully).
  19. naismith, I think if you checked the facts about last year's cancelled game, CA called off school because of a flu outbreak. If my memory is correct even the TV stations from Nashville went to C'ville and reported it on the 6 pm news. Eventually allof Montgomery County called off school. I did not see where WHH cancelled school today! I also talked with someone at the meeting and was told that Petroni NEVER said why the game was rescheduled, his only comment was it's MY home game. Sounds like a LITTLE man attitude to me.
  20. Guess HTV scheduled spring practice. Just kiddin. I do have a serious question. You stated the AD/Principal handed out a questionnaire for the prospective coaches to fill out. What in the world does that mean? Do they have football questions or personal questions? Wonder if KJ applied? I believe you stated he was a runner-up when Stephens was hired. You mentioned Shepard wasn't going to apply and made some comments about his program at Halls. Just to let you in on something - he did leave to be closer to his parents. He lost his mother on February 3. Why don't you try calling him and offer your condolences!!
  21. Not postive on this but, I think if a player is kicked out of school or off the team and there is no way for said player to be readmitted to that school or team, he is not eligible to transfer to another TSSAA school/team. He probably transfer to another state but even that is prolly questionable. Sounds like a good topic for a new thread. If i am wrong in my assumption, please correct me.
  22. tnvols23, The rule doesn't stipulate paid or unpaid, it says coaches. With that having been said, if you coach at a high school, whether you are paid or not, you can't have any contact withplayers during the dead period. Someone brought up the question about a head coach and having his son on an athletic team. I would think a coach could have his own flesh and blood in the weight room if he chose to do so. BUT, there should not be any other players there. I'm sure the rule states no contact with your players. If a coach cannot have contact with his players during this 2 week period, what does he do with his son? If i were in that situation, send my butt to the beach, mountains, wherever for two weeks. Another question - why not have the coaches get together for pre-season meetings, to plan and organize for the fall practices (football). Would this be legal since no players are involved?
  23. Not positive on this response, but I don't think year round schools are in session now. I believe this is their summer break similar to traditional schools. I believe year round begins again on August 1 or thereabouts. Good thought on calling the news-sentinel and asking questions about the article. First I would contact the photographer and ask when the photo was shot, then contact hooker about the article.
  24. Both young men are extremely good QB's. Bet old GQ would love to have either one at Muryville. I think if you polled ever HC in region 3-4A, you would find most would fear Watts the most. here is some thoughts to ponder: 1) Would you rather have a 5-9 or a 6-1 QB? 2) Which one would you rather have to defend as a runner? 3) Which is more valuable to his team as a QB? 4) Wonder what the effect would be if Lee Smith did not transfer to Powell, meaning would Watts have thrown for as many yards as he did without a 6-6 Tight End. How many more yards would Zack Helton have if Lee Smith had not transferred (6-6 TE, WR's with speed to burn).
  25. rooster, As far as I can find out, what you are asking is legal. The rule implies you can not have contact with your student/athletes. Since a middle school athlete is yet eligible to attend high school, there shuld not be a problem. However, if you want to assist those same middle school athletes and you will be using your gym, weight room, any indoor facility, you must request permission from the TSSAA. If I were you, get tehm to send your a fax stating you have their permission. The old CYA theory. All kidding aside, you should be legal. HTV says to read page 29, problem is he didn't read the fine print about the DEAD PERIOD.
