  1. Both teams are undefeated in district play. Both teams have struggled as of late going 2-5 in their last 7 games. Who comes out on top in the 1st meeting of the season between these two teams?

Wartburg might have a slight advantage playing at home, but OS won their last year in a 15-20 point decision.

    What are everyone's thoughts?

Wartburg wins because OS just isn't that good great of a team.

  2. The strength of schedule poll does not take into account out of state games in their rankings. RE could have scheduled a bunch of "crippies" to pad the record but chose instead to play a challenging schedule. Hopefully the team and the players grow from this level of competition and it will show come tournament time.

    Tue: Bartlett 13-3

Fri.: Milwaukee Rufus King (Ranked #4 in Wisconsin)

Sat.: Possibly Oregon So. Medford (Ranked #10 in the nation, #1 in Oregon)

Sun: Possibly Florida Lake Howell (Ranked #5 in the nation, #1 in Florida)

    Tue: Cordova (on the road)

Thu.: Bolton 11-3 (on the road)

Fri: Craigmont 9-2 (on the road)

Sat: MS. N.E. Lauderdale (on the road)

RE has already defeated Liberty (ranked #1 in AA), Briarcrest (ranked #2 in Div. II), Wooddale (8-2), White Station (9-4), Overton (7-3); won the BayBall Classic defeating Simon Gratz, NY Lincoln, and RI St. Andrews.

Compare this schedule to ANY other team's in Tennessee. Going undefeated in this level of competion is impossible so don't expect RE's record to reflect this team's ability.

If those "possibles" don't work out, Liberty's sedule in the last 2 1/2 weeks of December was tougher.... R-E has a REAL good team though.

  3. It's true that anything can happen, because the unthinkable happened when Grace beat Humboldt...Humboldt was a better team that was ill-prepared (we won't go into that)...You put those two teams in a gym 5 more times and that Humboldt team would win every one of them...Bad thing is, this year's Humboldt team would beat last year's Grace team even worse...So what does that say for this year's Grace team...? Oh and UC beat them by around 16 if I'm not mistaken...Humboldt beat them 3 times earlier that year and would've either beaten them or atleast came much closer than that in the championship...Congratulations on Grace playing Cinderella on Humboldt last year, but don't expect Humboldt to overlook anyone next time around...

    Get over yourself.

  4. This district is not even REMOTELY close to being "ONE" of the toughest districts in the state. I have looked at your schedule and to date its ranked 105th out of 116. Which says to me its a "cupcake" schedule. Not that this team isn't a good team i'm not implying that at all, but before you post make sure you post facts not fiction my friend!

Aww, cut 'em some slack. He/she is new and just wants to support their team. They probabaly haven't seen much basketball outside of their own games either.... About tonights game, heck, with the way Cosby has been playing as of late, Grace might win. But its at the Eagle's nest, so I'll give the advantage to Cosby.

  5. I totally agree about defense is very important. You forgot one part of my statement. I said as of late not the last 20 years. :lol:Union City will probably win again this year. You can take the best defensive team in the East and UC will run them out of the gym.

OK. What has the west done as of late? You act like they have dominated lately, but only last year was a convincing victory. Whoop-dee-do! The east won 4 staight pretty convincingly a few years ago, so what are you getting at?

  6. Seriously, how good do you have to be when your district includes Knoxville Christian?

Cut Knox Christian a little slack. Just because the don't have a sub-domain, (because the behind the scene people at CoachT won't create one for them) that dosen't mean they aren't good. They have a chance to win that district. They already have a win over Harriman and played Cosby to 3... But then they go and have games like they did against GCA and Sunbright... They're a Dr. Heckel and Mr. Clyde kinda team...

  7. Since you are on this defensive tip, there is an old saying that defense wins championships so why haven't yall produced many Gold balls as of late. The West continues to pile them up. I agree that defense is very important, however, offense is also important. :thumb:

Well in 1A, (which is what i'm talking about. I don't give a rat's rear about AA or AAA) only 5 of the past 20 State Champions have come from west of Nashville ('92 Middleton, '97 Perry County, '00 South Fulton, '05 Middleton, '06 Union City.) That seems pretty lopsided to me... I'll take a good defense over a good offense any day, because a good defense will create offense.

  8. We play Cosby Tuesday night (district game). We play in one of the toughest districts in the state. We have recently won 2 tournaments beating AA schools in both (Union Co. and CAK) for the crown. Not saying we are the best team in the state but I think we will be contenders this year and next....for we have no seniors, only sophmores and juniors.

BTW. this is only the third year that We have had basketball too.

Your weak schedule will hurt you to much down the strech when you start playing playing good teams in tourny time. And its nowhere near the toughest district in the state... But, if you have no seniors, thats a plus for you.

  9. I find it hard to believe that people voted for Grace Christian, let alone gave them 2 first place votes... Just goes to show that the AP poll is nothing more than a waste of paper done by a bunch of sports writers that for the most part have no clue what they are talking about.

well see who deserves it more come tournment time and were winning by 20 plus. And Dont say i dont see it happen because it did last year. So enjoy the number one ranking, it goin to be like Ohio State this year. Yall play in the weak big ten while we play sec type ball. It will catch up to you come feb and march.

Out here in the east, teams play deffense. :thumb:

  10. Rankin let it be known to close allies last week that he would be living in JC very soon.

Everything else is a formality  Might as well be ready!

Why would Rankin leave Alcoa? Why would he go to a team with less talent, less support, and less tradition than the one he has now? I mean if Alcoa would probably beat Science Hill by 35... It just doesn't make sence...

  11. Who have they played to give you that impression? Yea they played Grace tough (as indicated by the final score, I didn't see the game though) but other than that the teams they're playing are bottom feeders this year and the scores indicated the game were relatively close. By the way, who are the other 4 wins to?

I also saw where you put them in the top 10 in the city on another post?! What's up with that? Just because they have a little speed and a couple of athletes doesn't put them in the same class.

He dosen't have to justify anything to you. He stated his opinion, and if you don't like it, tough...

And just for the record, aside from Notre Dame and Boyd, CSAS hasn't beaten anyone but bottom feeders either. 21st's loss to Grace wasn't any bigger than your loss to them, and 21st played Temple about 20 points better than you did when they mopped your own floor with you... So I wouldn't be talking crap about 21st.

  12. Well, from what I've seen most concession stands seem to have 1 item thats REAL good, heads and shoulders above the rest of the menu item. Green County schools seem to have the best food, but their more expensive than other stands... But for the best of something in particular:

    Best Chili Dog: North Greene

Best Hamburger : Chuckey-Doak (they have the grill sitting right outside the gate, so you smell it and want one before you even get in)

Best BBQ Sandwich: Unaka (when they used to get it from Hank's)

    Best Popcorn: Clinch

Best Bowl of Chili: Hancock County (by far)

    Best Pizza: Temple

Best Chili Cheese Nachos: Unicoi County
