All athletics would include baseball. I realize that you don't view baseball as a sport due to the fact that Cloudland doesn't normally win but that doesn't dismiss the fact that it is a sport. I guess we'll have to wait for baseball season to see if that complete domination materializes.
I guess he also forgot that football is a sport too. Will maybe Cloudland ought to worry about finding a way to obeat Jellico before they worry about beating Unaka! I think its funny how king's only refuge is what he refered to as a "bubblegum" sport just a year or two ago. He king, just wait till fall when you play Unaka in a "real" mans sport!
-
But king, didn't your beloved Highlanders lose to Chuckey Doak the other night? The same Chuckey Doak team that lost to Happy Valley twice and almost lost to Clinch?
But really. Coaching. Players. Its both. Unaka didn't show up last night. I guess they thought they would just walk in and win. Only one that seemed play any was Andrew. And whoever said it (can't remember who) is right. This Unaka team only has 7, maybe 8 players that can do anything more than just go out there and take up space. Theres where the coaching comes in. When you have numbers like that, you can't press for 4 quaters. You just cant do it. You have to play somewhat conservative. You can't play 6 or 7 players balls to the wall for the entire game. By the 4th quarter, they're done. Thats what happened up at Cloudland, against Central, and against Johnson County. There just wasn't enough in the tank. I can count how many times they've played strong deffense this year. on one hand though. Last night, I don't know what was going on. Half the 3 pointers Happy Valley took were airballs. But insted of going zone and making Happy Valley shoot, they ran whatever it was they were runnig and let Happy Vally drive inside for EASY lay-ups all night. But it probably wouldn't have mattered anyway as lazy as they were playing. Roper also hurt them cause he couldn't throw one in the ocean from outside, but insted of driving inside and at least trying to draw a foul, he just kept on shooting the 3. Then he got mad and he let it get to him. He started throwing elbows and making hacks that weren't called and forcing his shots. Also, when Happy Valley misses the foul shot and Smith rebounds it with 6 seconds left, why not call a time out? I know Snavely didn't use all 5. But insted they just dribbled it around backcourt and didn't even get a shot off. And lastly, that was the a very bad officiating crew. Maybe the worst I've seen all year. The old white headed guy obviosly wasn't going to call anything on Happy Valley, and the flat headed guy just dosen't know what he's doing. Happy Valley only had 1 team foul in the 2nd half until 56 seconds left. But, Unaka didn't play good enough to blame the refs. It just seemed like they flat out didn't care last night.
But more important than any of this, John Fine passed away this morning. Lets all PLEASE keep the Fine family in our thoughts and prayers.

Yeh, UH beat south greene by 9 hancock beat them this summer by 15 or more. Cloudland lost to chucky doak by 7 hancock beat them by 15 also you best beware.
Well if you want to go by match ups (which only ignorant people do) Washburn beat Hancock by 13, and North Greene (wich only has 4 wins on the entire season) beat Washburn twice. And you are retarded to say "we beat so and so in the summer." Nobody gives a crap about summer ball. Summer ball dosen't mean squat...
Hancock County will be lucky, real lucky to get past the 1st round of regions... A team that can't even win the weakest district in the state isn't going to surprise anyone.

Natilie Johnson starts at the point for Unaka and is only a freshman.
-
Oh no. They useally have 12-14 players dress varsity, and then a few that don't and play just JV. This year, they only have 10 players in the program, and they all dress varsity. 1 Senior, 2 Juniors, 4 Sophs, and 3 Freshmen. With those numbers, it is hard to ask the girls to play a varsity game just a couple hours after most of them play a JV game... Also, I may be mistaking, but a player can only play 6 quarters a night, be it in a JV, freshman, or varsity game. With only ten players, (and with one sick, it only leaves nine) it would be really hard to manage the quarters a player can play.

I don't think it's matters because of Unaka's win over Cloudland.
Unaka and North Greene split; Hampton and North Greene Split; Cloudland and Unaka split. Cloudland swept Hampton and North Greene. Yep, makes a lot of sense to me. I think.
1) Cloudland
2) Hampton
3) Unaka
4) North Greene
But both Unaka and North Greene are 4-4 in the conferance (assuming North Greene beats UH)
-
If North Greene beats Uh tomorrow, which should happen, who won the coin toss for the 3 seed? North Greene or Unaka?

Why is the bracket messed up like that? Why not just have a play in game between #8 and #9, then the winner of that game play #1, #2 play #7, ect.?

a twinkie sounds pretty good right now actually, and i have thought about making my own site. it would be a big free for all between all carter county schools, no post shut downs, no blocking language... i think it would be a pretty cool thing. but i guess ole coacht will have to do for now.
Guess so... And I prefer to ding-dongs myself

I think 'byes' are an effort to cut down on games. I do not think they are fair. In some districts, there may be an obvious dominant team. In others, it really could cut out a team that has really improved since those two or three district losses early in the season. To me... that is the difference between district regular season champion vs. the district tournament champion teams that progress to state. After all, it is about the best time right now... vs. the team that was playing two months ago. If you cut out teams at this point, it sends the message that there is no sense in competing after a few early district losses. I've seen it happen many times...that team that could not click in December, has finally found their stride and are kicking tail in February. Let the tournaments (with all teams) determine who should move on. IMHO
Then how are you going to do a district with 6 or 7 teams??? ITS IMPOSSIBLE, unless you have a round robin tournament, which (1st) would take too long, and (2nd) the regular season is a round robin played twice, so why do it a third time?

Ive benn telling everbody this for years: Refs in Tennese aren't worth a flip. They $uck. They're inconsistant, they're uneducated about the game, they don't know the rules, and alot are just flat out biased... Its a shame that 40 and 50 year old men go out on a mission to screw teenagers, but it happens every night. And you kow who to blame??? Why the T$$AA of course.
