  1. the story in the Tennessean seems a little incomplete.....think about it! The kid comes home from school with a "cashier's check" for $1500 that he got from the "Coach" (incidentally Cashier's Checks are SIGNED)...so the parents go....great.... and go off to Walmart shopping.....If I am the dad I'm calling the "coach" before my son sits down! What coach (anywhere/anyschool) takes $1500 from some anonymous source and passes it off to a player and never asks.....a whole bunch of questions....dumb, complicit, or accomplice...hard to come up with another answer but maybe there is one if the story lines are filled in??...if this was a mistake...then the good news is there are worse and perhaps with time this will be looked upon as a tough learning experience.

  2. I am not a fan of Coach McGugin, however, he was not fired at FRA. He left on his own accord for what was undoubtedly a better opportunity.

we all know how he left and the manner in which he made the move....i never siad that he was fired....he simply slipped away after many had stepped up to bat for him for a position that he lobbied strongly for....FRA offered him a lot...he thumbed his nose at them....it was his choice but it left an odor.....

  3. unfortunately DII - A is a throw away clasification with virtually no interest or support outside of parents who have kids playing at those schools....they get no attention...it is the black hole of the TSSAA....if it were my school I would do what i could to get into any other class.

  4. unless you are simply in awe of the waffle a prospect will wait to see what the issues with the TSSAA are going to be, second....they better be ready for some incredible political undertow. I think you want to be the replacement's replacement....my guess is this will be a short term hire that does not last....time will tell...it is very interesting to see all the canniblism around west end over this issue as they eat their own!!! Glad my kids are not involved...they suffer the most....the adults are all just chest beaters in this debacle.

  5. If these violations occurred in 2008, without the coach's knowledge, why is he being fired? Perhaps the parties who supplied the tuition should step up and absolve McGugin. The school could admit the violation, pay the fine, and accept the consequences. That's what gentlemen would do!

Obviously there is much more to it than that.....wake up and smell the coffee!

  6. Thank you for speaking for the silent majority. This could only have happened if the above were true. These are the same reasons he lost his job at FRA. Abusing players, parents, not keeping his word (lying), and unethical promises dumped on and cleaned up by the boosters/parents. With the above being his report card as a mentor to these young men, he should not be in a position to cause this type of problem a third time. Thanks again for putting some sanity into these post!!!

    well said.

  7. The TSSAA can't and won't do anything. The discipline punishments can only come from the headmaster and if you know the bureaucracy at MBA nowadays then you know that won't happen with any severity. MBA is trying to play Ensworth's game. MBA isn't Ensworth and shouldn't try to be. MBA is a place of values and morals, not a rich kid hangout like Ensworth that preaches that it is MBA's equal (statistics don't lie, Ensworth). MBA should try to maintain the status quo and let Ensworth fall, which it will.

    Graduate of MBA

    LOL...head in the sand

  8. All that I see on that forum relates to specific schools. I was just asking a generic question that I have been curious about for several years. If there is a simple explanation, I would just like to know. Not trying to stir the pot or get anyone upset, just curious.

    Unless its been dumped there must be 10000 posts on public v private....I bet I have a hundred or so??!! /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />

  9. where's everbody going. fra to d ll. are dca and notre dame going elsewhere? usj to aaa?

not sure who else may or may not be moving...but FRA is definately gone to DII - A so they will be out of the A/AA mix

  10. I agree. I just wish they hadn't showed up on Thursday....

Most of you know that I am an FRA partisan and very proud of the program, the girls and I think that they simply do not come any better than Coach McDonald. I did not get to see the FRA/ND game so I can not compare the 2 games. I think the size of the GPS field might have worked against FRA. It is the largest field that they have played on and FRA home games are on the football field, so significatly smaller. With that said, I think the best team won the game today and it would have taken a Herculean effort to change the outcome. I think that given the mostly freshman defense (including the goalie who played very well) and one freshman on defense starting her first game, they did very well to hold CAK to 1 goal. Not sure of the age of the CAK players but they looked older and were much more physical. It was a very good game....and as I said before, I am sorry to see these state rivalries (CAK, CCS, ND, FRA, CPA, DCA) from the last 7 years disappear for FRA as they move to DII. Best of luck and best wishes to the rest...they have all given more to me than I deserve as a dad, fan, and a spectator. Congratulations to CAK and FRA and all the state entries /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  11. While I am sure that it is a difficult for some of the teams that fell a little short, I have to give a huge congratualtions to FRA and Coach McDonald. Very few contributors here at Coach T gave FRA a chance to make another state final, and while they still have a huge job in front of them I think the program and Coach McDonald deserve mention and a best of luck wish. Coach McDonald has brought a lot of young ladies to state and had remarkable results. By my calculations, 7 straight appearances at State, 6 of 7 in the State finals, and 4 wins with one state final to be played out of those 6 appearances! An awesome job for a small school of significantly less than 300 high school students! Most of you know that FRA will move to DII single A next year due to the continued issues of TSSAA, multiplier, etc. While this will lead to new challenges and rivalries I believe that A/AA womens soccer will suffer for the loss of the great rivalries in that division over the last decade (CCS, CAK, ND, FRA, CPA, DCA....what great tournament games these teams and others have provided for us!) Great job and best wishes on Saturday to Coach and ladies!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  12. No one picked up FRA in the golden goose contest.

And the top 4 all picked CAK to win the final. So our standings are going to stay the same no matter what.

    I have claimed victory!

Great you can all cheer for FRA since it doesn't matter!!!

  13. Ok I'll edit your summary a little bit.

FRA scored first. Then Notre Dame got an equalizer within the next 4 or so minutes (check articles for real info) and then FRA got another about 6 and a half minutes before halftime.

2-1 at the half FRA leads.

2nd half was another epic one with each ND trip downfield possibly being the one to tie it all up but they never quite could find the back of the net. Great game by both teams. Heartbreaking for ND to lose 4 straight in the semi's. They have a great team and will be back next year as always.

And ND won't have to see FRA no matter how the draw goes!!!!! /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />

  14. Thanks Akula for the kind words We worked hard this year to attain our goal of a State Tournament While it tough road to get there many ups and downs are team always played with heart We did that on the field against FRA too That is all I can ask for as a coach It was amazing to be there and our girls did not come out scared or nervous We just had to play the our best game and we did not Had some tough bounces as well with the own goal and the goal called back but that is the game it was awsome experience and an amazing ride

a special experience in the lives of those young ladies...and lots of work by kids, parents, and coaches....congratulations to all of you.

  15. If it stays the way it is right now, you'll have that reason. Surprised you aren't there tonight! Sure wish I was (Reaction and Coniglio really miss me)!

didn't want to see the broken hearts if they came up short....those girls mean a lot to me....i'll definately be there to watch them give it their best in Sat! Plus for them it would be nice to leave D1 with a championship, if possible!

  16. Well, I was really hoping for a ND CAK final (as I know DonC was even more so) but this should shape up to be a great one regardless.

Wish I could make it, but one of my players who is going into the military has invited me to spend the day with him and his dad. But you know I won't be far from my phone!

Good luck lady Warriors! Make your old middle school coach proud as always!

Remember: Whatsoever you do, do it ALL to the glory of God!

Thank your player for his service and I shall pray for his safety. I will be there to support the lady Panthers....one more time /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

  17. I'll come back when ND wins it all....

I need an FRA win over ND ...that scrambles the contest!! and gives me a reason to come to the finals /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" /> on SAT!

  18. Maybe like 6 people from CCS were there. I was running lines.

    Gee Coniglio.....I'd give you a nice bottle of Pinot Noir to go with that golden goose....if FRA won, but alas....you are under 21 so that would not be acceptable!!! /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

  19. Here are my picks:

    CAK over station Camp

USJ getting by CPA (close game!!)

Seymour defeating FRA (the real upset, also showing the over-rating of the Nashville schools on Euro)

Notre Dame over JCS (biggest blow-out game)

    Semi

    CAK defeating USJ

Notre Dame beating Seymour (great run in tournament by Sey)

    Finals

Notre Dame beating CAK (by 3 goals)

Total goals: 24 (half of the goals coming in the last 3 games)

    Looks like the "EuroRatings" of Nashville schools might be a little more accurate than you'd hoped.... /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />

  20. I knew as soon as I saw the heading this would stir a "hornet nest"!! Last time I checed....Coach Tis about 80% "OPINION" and maybe 20% facts confirming scores, information etc....Certainly ALL-State is inevitably someone or a group of someone's opinions....there is no clear cut guideline....its not like Xcountry where you could just say anyone running under "X" is All-state.....I don't see anything wrong with anyone penning their "opinion" on all-state as long as you don't slam someone else's selection or point out that any one girl should NOT make all-state...nothing to be gained by that...after all we're not talking national politics here /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> Certainly to receive the selection is a honor...but I am sure being mentioned here as a potential is nice as well. /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />

  21. i swear conig if this is right i will personally hunt you down and strangle you. ND better win this year. and ND won 4-0 against JCS last year. wasn't exactly an exciting game

    Coniglio...this sounds like a serious personal threat...you should consider a disguise or a body guard (maybe BIG G???) /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />

  22. I think Alabama might have overlooked her "spoiled rotten attitude." If you knew the girl, you'd never say that about her.

I've known 11 and 2 both for a long time.....they give as much as they get and they both are talented 11 is the ever ready bunny and is the kind of girl that will ask to run more sprints...2 is extremely tough and can beat you from the 30 with a strong leg....they are both very competitive. I have not seen ND, CAK and some of the others. It is a typical FRA team about 4 to 6 really good players and then several others that are solid or coming along because of youth....if you have a deep team they can be beaten...ala some previous years. ND had the better 20 players a couple of years ago and wore them down...CPA looked deeper the other night in their win over FRA.

    For what its worth...if I was recruiting...I'd take 2 or 11 on my team anyday. /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
