  1. What's happening Glee...long time no hear from. I hope all is well. You would have been proud of your Cyclones. Had it not been for a couple of untimely turnovers this would have been the confidence booster that would have taken them over the top this year. Your observation was right on the money but after the Cyclones first possession it didn't look good for the home team. But they bounced back and handled their own for the rest of the game. That's a direct reflection on the coach in my opinion because they could have just laid down and took the beating and nobody would have been surprised. About Science Hill...you wouldn't believe how loaded this team appears to be. Speed, size, and full of athleticism and this waco coach can't do nothin with it. I hope they keep him for awhile. That would give the rest of us time to get up to speed with the realignment. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

    Cap,

You are the man. I get on here every now and then to check on things. NET is a great area and I really miss alot of the people and the sports. Football is strong here in Lex and you know I get out on Friday to check it out. Stay in touch...... glee1001@aol.com

  2. Very respectable showing by the Cyclones and I'm sure they are looking forward to next Friday night!

From what I have read IN THE PAPERS, the Cyclones held their own against an always deeper SH team. Turnovers by both teams seem to have been a key in this game....... ? and Elizabethton apparently has some speed and technique on both sides of the ball. That is taught and the kids obviously want to learn & succeed as they continue to rebuild a once broken program. FANTASTIC!

    CYCLONE PRIDE!

  3. KRich,

Is your ratings system askew? From previous experience with your poll and your own personal polling trends, have you not missed the mark? Elizabethton has earned the #1 position until proven otherwise on the strength of the Mo West win along with the others........... In my 'from a distance view' that nails the top position at this time. When they havn't earned it, I'll call it so. Take care of The King, someone has to.

    GO CYLCONES!

    2. CLOUDLAND

    3. UNICOI

    4. HAPPY VALLEY

    5. UNAKA

    6. HAMPTON

    7. JOHNSON COUNTY

  4. Highlander, whether you believe it or not, I'm on your side. I'm gonna fight for Cloudland until they put me in a grave somewhere. I give Cloudland unconditional love. Even if Roan Mt. was going to stone me tomorrow, I will love this school and town with all my heart. These people from Elizabethton and Stoney Creek will pat you on the back to your face and act like Christians, but amongst themselves they will belittle us. At least I am what I am. A hardline extremist. I'm not afraid to say what I think and they know where I stand.

Paranoid /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> , but I have to love your posts. They are so out'Landish' that they are actually funny.

    GO CARTER COUNTY!

and especially........... GO CYCLONES! (anything wrong with supporting your 'home' team?)

  5. The biggest job Coach Witten has to deal with is rebuilding the 'heart' of the Cyclones. It was PREVIOUSLY ripped out! The changing of the mindsets will take a few classes and it has to start early if allowed by the 'owners' of the school system. The feeder systems are in place and give TAD some seasoned ballplayers. I'm not sure how things are at TAD this season but in the past it was like taking a step backwards for the players before going to high school. They were under-coached on the football field leading to immediate problems upon their move to Jason Witten Way. Hopefully that has been corrected and Coach Witten has a say as to the schemes and coaching on the middle school sidelines. There has to be continuity thru the school F-Ball program. That has to be the start and its not hard to figure how long it will take for true change to come about given leadership on the TAD & HS sidelines. It is going to be a long process and it can't be laid on anyone but the past leadership not pushing the kids to excell but allowing them to accept failure just as they did. Not acceptable!

Hang tough Shawn Witten and as always..........

    GO CYCLONES!!

  6. GO CYCLONES!!

Coach Witten99 is suffering from the 'Pless Hangover'. It will take time to re-align the 'young minds'.

As far as Wes Anderson & P Smith. They would both give thier 'eye teeth' for their teammates. 99% of thier teammates can't look in the mirror and say the same. Those two are tough caracters. Hang tough......... better times are ahead! The re-alignment has begun but it takes time.

Thanks Cap. 'They' had that coming. The truth hurts.

  7. Without a doubt, politics has reared its ugly head and had an effect on the young men & women. G basketball and baseball overcame this with tough, smart coaching. You may have noticed, both of those coaches are long gone. I can attest, for a fact, that politics took a bite out of the kids last season and the political situation is still a mess. That particular situation will take many, many years for a recovery. Many........ Witten will be one of the coaches to 'circumsize' the politics. Still it wil take time. The only cure for the politics is to 'CLEAR THE HILL' and many of the citizens of Eliz now realize this. The next two elections will be interesting.

  8. There is a lot that needs fixin. It ain't going to be fixed fast. We forget that these kids whole high school career

has been turmoil and conflict. Mostly over one mans fight for justice and truth. Some of it seemed very right

at the time, but as time has went on they all, coaches that are now in charge and admin. that are running

the show forgot about one small but oh so important thing, THE KIDS!!!! The previous staff destroyed the heart

of these 15,16,17,and 18 yr. olds they hurt them very badly. They destroyed there pride in EHS which has

been seen on the football field and BB courts. Now these folks are running the show. I guess they will

finish what they started. So any one who is mad about things said on this board should blame these fine men in the community. They are the real bad guys, the kids are the victims. Cyclones play for your team and yourselves.

Have pride in you and the guy beside you in Orange and Black. Forget about the other crap!! Wes is not the fastest

kid around, but he has some things you can't coach. He's a leader, he is very smart, he is a very fine young man

He can do the job that needs done, Wes if you read all this crap forget about what some say go play and believe

in yourself and your team. Talent will lose to desire most of the time. Be Cyclones be proud of the.

    ORANGE & BLACK

Play like every down may be the last you ever play and if you LOVE the GAME and your TEAM it will show.

Play for Coach W he knows what it takes, do what he says, he will lead you to bigger and better things.

77 has had some attitude problems in the past and I hope he is a better teammate, but he is playing well

for the CYCLONES. They need to look at there personal and find folks that want to be on the field.

Ones that really want it, not ones that say they want it our defense is not good, or defensive line has

been good compared to the rest of the defense. LB and DB are jumper oner's no one wants to hit.

Offense the FB, is a major area of concern seems to not want to hit anyone. I only wish these young men

could be fixed fast, but they can't because a bunch of adults decided to put there own interests above the KIDS

and it is and has been showing for several years. Why do you thing attendance has went down at the

    high school.

GOOD LUCK THE REST OF THIS SEASON. Boys and people don't be so sensitive about things said here

most of these folks do support you and a lot care about you. Because they point out bad things to you

does not mean they are trying to tear you down. It is a community's disappointment not with you'all

mainly with the adults. EHS CYCLONE football is beloved and emotions run strong. This group is not our

best, but they are out there putting themselves on the line every friday. In COWTOWN we slaughter

our own unless you are part of a very select group which most of us are not privileged to belong to,

but remember you can make of it what you want it to be, so make the best of it. Remember you are

    CYCLONES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    GOOD LUCK CYCLONES!

  9. That isn't me glee

    ??

I have only seen Eliz once this season but I do know this, Wes Anderson is one of the best competitors on the field, barr none. Given time, he will make something happen. Derrick Carr is a fine RB and ole Wendall Loving will go to 'bat' against anyone on the field. I'd run behind Jesse and his side of the line, which includes Ellis, anytime. They showed maturity vs HV that they didn't posess last season. They have several fine players but a 'quick fix' isn't in the cards. The Cyclones need time and will improve from game to game. I can't say much about last year because there were several problems but I do believe the people are in place to turn the show around. Good luck!!

    GO CYCLONES!

  10. i do appreciate your new positive attitude, but to be honest with you, you have me mistaken with someone else. I don't have a kid on the team i am just friends with one of the players on the team. I do agree with you though the coaching last year was terrible. But good luck to you and your son as well.

Maybe you misunderstand. No new attitude, just noone on the sidelines that needs criticism. I tried talking to the former coach over the last previous years but his ears weren't open. I took my 'scratch' here and on the street. The coach now is on the ball and will lead the team. No whinning around just hard nosed football with some smarts. Like I said, no new attitude but I respect people who know what they are doing and who have open 'ears'. Take care of your kid, trainer.

    GO CYCONES!

    "CLEAR THE HILL"

  11. i completly agree hampton is good for this area but like you said alcoa would be done with them by halftime. Witten has the energy to get betsy back to the top of this area but as far as getting past knoxville that would take more then a decade.

Get, Having a son in his last year and struggling so.......... now you know where I was last year but with no leadership at the helm. At least this season some teaching has begun and a new 'mind-set' is being put in place in the Cyclone camp. All joking aside, I appreciate our past and wish you well with your son. Good luck!

    Regards

    GO CYCLONES!

  12. #7 is the free safety who might as well not be in the game and from what i have heard he is a real cancer in the locker room, but that is just what i have heard. Couldn't agree more about the fullback the cyclones are playing with 10 on offense and sometimes 9 when #86 is in at tight end that kid bless his heart looks scared to death out there he was running away from people trying to block them. Witten really has his hands full as far as the personnel he is working with, but hopefully he will toughen them up because if he doesn't it is going to be a long day up on the mountain. Remember i said it watch out for JC #30 he knocks heads off.

Look who came out of the 'closet'?? Good to see you back on here. How's 'E' doing? I've heard some dandy things. Hang in there.......... speaking of cancers

The game of the softies, there will be a lot of arm tackling from betsy, they may want to watch #30 from johnson county that boy knows how to hit. #7 from betsy is the most passive ball player i have seen since watching a flag game. If Carr thinks he will run around the edge on JC, #30 will knock him into next week. Everyone on here thinks he is so good, but that boy does not ever run it between the tackles. I hope elizabethton gets it done but that D has to control the edge and that offense has to get somewhat physical.

  13. Compusat......... I don't think anyone is 'crying' that Carr has no blocking. It is totally visible, without a doubt. It is a similar situation that has dogged the Cyclones for the last few years. Lack of disipline in the weight room and on the practice field. They have had the size and a couple have done well at 'combines', but they don't hit at combines. I do see a change coming but not overnight. It will take a few years to 'wear in' the change. Now if that's crying........

Atop that, Duanah is, hands down, the best running back I've seen in the area. Sorry dude but you guys definately hold that title at QB this season. Good luck!

  14. Sounds as if there are similar problems as what the Cyclones had last year. This year they have a competitor at RB in Carr. That was missing last year. Anderson is going to give 110% behind center. The line....... it will take a couple of years and alot of work but Coach Witten knows what the missing link is. On D & O it starts up front. I don't care who is behind them. It starts up front and Witten will instill the will and ethic in the underclassmen. The others......... well, .............
