    ND at McCallie

Robbie Miller is the real deal!! He played a great game. A hot shot from Love skipped on the wet grass instead of bouncing for the score. McCallie dominated everybody but Robbie for the entire game. It was McCallie against Miller - that simple. To have so much talent McCallie has no strategy. Ex: Overtime kickoff .....they just boom ball to ND???????????????? No clue! Never play quick possession restart either. No plays on cornerkicks or restart in the games I've seen. tons of talent but.............often revert to "rec" ball. Killing ND but no shape change to finish them off during reg time. Go up 1-0 in OT but no shape change to protect the "win" when that is all they needed. That Orie kid (#16) in mid field for McCallie completely changed McCallie's style of play since I last saw them. He may well be the best player on the field. Great touches. Always plays the easy ball... on the grass! Attacks when others are strolling. Delays while his team builds. he is fun to watch. He makes McCallie play posssesion soccer instead of kick ball. I hear he is only a freshman - but ODP trained. one to watch! Good luck to McCallie in Knoxville next week.
  3. The games i have seen Mc play they have played "REC" level long ball soccer. Why? I'm told that most, if not all, of their team are select players with years of excellent coaching. What makes them forget everything they have been taught so suddenly? They have the potential but something is amiss. Readthefield's post sounds like a Select/ODP coach who sees what I saw. I made it to the earlier ND/Mc game and was very disappointed in the level of play. it was goelie to goalie kickball or fullback to goalie kickball. Mc is clearly better inspite of a weak Today it is Mc 2-0 - unless Miller controls the game and he may just play Mc single handedly through the game, overtimes and then a shootout. Hope the refs are better than those at ND too.

    ND/McCallie

If Miller keeps the door shut (and Robbie can) then this could be close in spite of McCallie's much stronger roster and skills. Coaching may come into play also. Rumor had it that Steve George just might take over for this game. I think I'll go see this one. 2-0 McCallie - or even more if George does coach.
  5. Did get to see this one. McCallie - better talent but Baylor better coached. Bach had too much skill and speed for sweeper(actuall may have been flat back 4). 1-0 Baylor A large man - McCallie's coach I think - stood on the sideline and only yelled "Sirrrrrrrrrr!", "Energy!", and "Pressure that!" the entire game until exhausted, he collapsed on the bench for the final minutes of the game. No real direction or coaching - just yelling. McCallie has a thorobred but needs to bring back prior coach or "ledgend" coach George to train and ride this stud if they have any hope of advancing in post season play. They are too good to be playing rec ball after so many have been in quality select programs for years. Baylor is getting better each outing! Probably coaching!
  6. What is Brentwoods record? They host McCallis this week who I think beat both Hendersonville and Grissom at the Parkview tournament in Atlanta. How will this game go?
  7. I agree! Talent is definately there but something seems to be missing.
  8. Most goalies are only as good as their sweepers!
  9. I heard it was the weakest team Mc has played all year. Also there was a mention of small field size and poor condition. Anybody got the facts first hand?

    McCallie

Young - my understanding is that they are only carrying 3 freshmen. That is really no different than in years past, if you go back and check their rosters.

    McCallie

0-1-2 with most talented roster top to bottom in the region?? I don't get it.
  12. one team definately had the best players. Two great keepers.
  13. Awful game! Goalie to Goalie kick ball - at its best!

    wide fields

I think that all of those private schools have magnetic fields installed under thier pitches to help them control the ball and win games.
  15. Glad this thread originator knew enough to exclude Division II.
