  1. Susie, A girl after my own heart..... WE must be related!!!
  2. Rebelsman, THANKS!! I had heard about these stats but I had not located them yet. I will go there and look at them weekly. Do you have one playing?
  3. You may be right. I hope that Heritage is fired up, it is our first home game, and that helps our guys. Good luck to all of THE BOYS! I will pray for no injuries and a good clean game.
  4. Well, I am not real sure about everyone else, but I am related to just about the whole county!!!
  5. Well, of course I am pulling for Heritage, if they can get back the same momentum they had against Farragut it should be pretty interesting. We will see.......
  6. Coach DG, email me at kjthomp@adelphia.net for details. Glad for you on your record. We paly Oak Ridge this week, if we can hang on the last part of the season should be pretty good. You would have been so PROUD at the farragut game, our boys looked like a different team! D line was awesome, offense was strong. And the celebration afterwards wouuld have brought tears to your eyes! I will be sure to tell the boys that we chatted. You are mentioned every week, they all miss you!!!
  7. Well, if it is not my favorite coach of all time! How are things going Coach G? We miss you, and it is not the same without you!! How are things going in your new school? I am sure that you heard about #4 leaving. And by the way...... how about old Bill's finish Sunday? He ain't done yet!!!!!
  8. Oh, that is really cute!!! Ya know, we ALL are Blount County folks and we are a proud bunch. Another funny...we had Meet The Mountaineer Night Tuesday and we had a dunking booth. One of our bus drivers made a jerset and used black electrical tape and wrote REBELS on it. We made about $50 off of her alone!!! All is good clean fun. I am not sure what happened to Brent Miller. One day he was there, they he was gone. We were looking forward to his ability. My first cousin's daughter was a cheerleader at Maryville, one of the Kings. Also another cousin coaches girls bball at Maryville (Kim Bledsoe). Shane is a good player, as a matter of fact our defensiver line is pretty strong, the secondary is a little weak yet, but it is early. If we can get through Friday night (Oak Ridge) we should win a few more.
  9. My boy starts at DE and plays until we put 2nd string in. He is pretty good, he does his job, and I guess that is what counts. We spend a lot of time at the stadium preparing for game night. We have a booth called The Woodshed where we sell t shirts, etc, and we feed the teams (Freshman, JV and Varsity) before every game. we just had a pre-season kick off party this week, had about 400 people there. We had concessions, games, a dunking booth and a program where we introduced all the players, cheerleaders, middle school teams, etc. That took a lot of planning. Am i missing something here????
  10. Clemson Dad, Thanks for your concern. I guess sometimes I speak before I think, I would not want any kid to be in trouble in any way because of something like that. I do not know who the kids were, and they probably meant no harm. If they had been speaking to my son, or any other kid I would not have thought twice about it, but I just felt it did not show respect to an adult. But thanks, as I said earlier, I know several Rebel kids, and they are just wonderful boys. And like I said, Coach Quarles is a very nice man. We sponsored an event right before the season started at RIO Church, and Coach Quarles made sure that his team attended, and they were super polite and an all around good group. They deserve praise for that!
  11. You have to thank the Heritage Football Team for that name, my son (#82, Sr, DE) is named Richard, hence HIS name on the team is Dick. I am at the school almost daily, love my HHS Mountainees, so I am Mama Dick. It DOES sound funny when I walk through the stadium to the sounds of "Mama Dick!!!" I am a new member of this forum and I LOVE it. I love high school football. My uncle was coach at Friendsville for many years, my cousin is AD at Wm Blount and I went to Everett. Many good years of county football in my memories, I sure miss Lanier, Walland, Friendsville, Townsend, Everett days. Glory Days!!!
  12. You are absolutely correct, I did misspeak when I said "Rude Opponents." I know quite a few Maryville boys who are great kids, Chris Large for one. He is a good friend of me and my son. And I do apologize for the generalities. You are also correct in saying that the rude talk can go both ways. I am not so blind as to think our boys are all perfect gentlemen!!! SO bottom line, I concede! And your remarks about bringing all of your "troops".... well said. I agree, and I admire Rebel football and thier program. My brother does the Saturday morning radio show and he said that after we beat Farragut Coach Quarles was about as happy as Coach Corum was! SO in short, you are right, I will not let the actions of a few boys turn me against the Red Rebels.... Hope they go all the way!!!!! And not to leave out MY boys.... GO MOUNTAINEERS!!!!

I am not in any way discounting the playing ability of Maryville High School. They are a reat bunch of athletes. I knew they would beat us (Heritage) last week, I am very realistic. HOWEVER, I ran into a group of three Rebels and a dad at a local restaurant Saturday night. Being the friendly, upbeat person that I am, I went over to them to speak. When I introduced myself and told them that my son played for Heritage, they all started snickering and laughing. I tried to kid along with them, and everything I said was promptly made fun of. I made one comment about the type of plays they ran on offense and I said, Well if you had played more of a running game instead of a passing game it might have made some difference in the final score. One of the "boys" said, Oh, no, it would not have made any difference at all. To his credit, the dad was very nice, but the boys were total smart mouths. I realize boys will smart off to each other, but I felt very insulted that these kids laughed at my son and his team. Heritage has been down on their luck for years, but our kids give their all to the game. I am the President of the Booster Club and I spend 3-4 days a week with our guys, and they are one of the nicest, most dedicated group of kids anywhere. So in conculsion I would like to say.... someday the shoe may be on Maryville's other foot. If and when it is, I hope you are not treated as rudely as I was. I wish Maryville luck in State and would be proud to asee them successful again.
