  1. First off lets me say that Both teams were solid. MCHS made more mistakes and SPHS capitalized on the mistakes. This game was won in the special teams and because of the mistakes. Whose the better team I would have to say the Warriors. Why well South Pitt was better on Friday because of the breaks that went their way. if you look at the stats it tells the tell. In the first half alone SPHS had 71 yards of offense the all-state AJ Jones had 6 yards rushing and 60 plus of those yards came on one play a TD pass off blown coverage and a missed tackle. With those stats the pirates still had 20 points, how Kickoff return TD the long TD pass and An interception return to the 10 yard line to set up the 3 TD. Second Half the pirates popped a TD after injury and cramps forced some reserves to play. That is part of the game so I feel SPHS earned two TDs of the four they scored the others were gifts. The warriors had a goalline stand where SPHS could not punch it in twice from inside the 1 yard line. The bottom line is on friday the pirates were the better team are if they played 10 more times could they win again? probably not but if, and buts are not part of the game , the warriors will get ready for Tellico and move on with the rest of the season.

  2. Well lets see Indian fan we don't mke excuses for wins but if you want one here goes. First the game real quick if you remember was 14-0 MCHS. The with a back up secondary and young kids at LB and DE Whitwell was able to pop a midline for 6. Yes young guys were playing because it was a jamboree and MCHS being not as deep as usual did not want to get anyone hurt. Then after a turnover on a bad pitch, The bad pitch was caused by a blown blocking assignment by a kid seeing his first varsity action at tackle, Whitwell scored a second TD on the backup D. The last TD was scored by Whitwell out of a formation not seen before so MCHS had a srew up in the secondary one side was in one coverage and the other side in a different coverage. No safety in the middle of the field equals TD. So if you want excuses that is it only one TD all night, both quarters was given up by the Warriors starting D. I did not know we were playing the Super Bowl at the jamboree?? Bottom line is Marion won both quarters of action. Also if we are talking about performances SP's was not that impressive against Lookout Valley but they also played young kids. I don't think you can look to the jamboree to tell anything. If you remember last year Marion County's performance was atrocious. My prediction for tonight's game is SC 21 GC 13. Gotta go with the homefield and advantage and I think SC has some good assistants contrary to other people's thoughts good luck little bro !! :)

  3. From where we were at we must have saw two totally different jamborees! Sequatchie was driving on Marion until a turnover? No drive to it the Warriors fumbled on their own side of the field to give the Indians field position. Sequatchie had one decent run and a pass play to get the yardage they did. If you want to make excuses like you do about blown assignments and letting Marion score? Here's one it was a blown coverage to give Sequatchie their only first down. As far as movement Marion moved the ball at will down the field. The warriors took advantage of their opportunities and Dunlap didn't bottom line. Final MCHS 7 SCHS 0. Oh yeah on the pass play it was good defense not interference got his head turned and played the ball.

  4. I am going to end by saying we will always disagree. Oh and bythe way what mountain on I-24 will Lookout Valley cross to get to Jasper? None. I live in Wildwood right down the road and drive it every day. About a 20 minute drive on the interstate. As for the fields. I am biased to the one in Jasper but our field is as good as anybody's around, PERIOD!! The field is lined every home game and i should know since I am involved with the process. As for Sequatchie's Stadium. It is very nice and something to be proud of but easy when talking about others. As a person who knows we acan all look back and say it was about time Dunlap got a new stadium because the old one was awful. Marion's may not be as new but it is as well built and as nice as any other in the Valley.

  5. For as long as i can Remember! I played in the games during high schoo and have coach in it since graduating college. That span runs from 1988 to current. Since Dunlap got the new stadium in 1999 as I understand it they asked to host it the first year the stadium was finished which was ok except the field was not ready. The sod was terrible at the time and really should not have been played on in my opinion. Then it came back to Marion Co. the next year,2000, and it was voted on during the off season without a MCHS coach present, to rotate the game. I think in my own opinion it was assumed that the only ones who would want to host would be MCHS and Sequatchie Co. I that assumption was wrong. So 2001 was back in Dunlap 2002 in Whitwell I guess 2003 we will be in Grundy Co. or Lookout Valley or South Pittsburg who ever is up next. I felt like Sequatchie did a good job hosting the jamboree the last time but the gates have been better in Marion County than in Sequatchie and I thought that is what jamborees are for fund raisers. Who knows and who cares it is always a good atmosphere and a good start to football season "in the valley"!! :(

  6. I don't Know what you are on but it is not a reality pill! If you think Moore Co. came out on top in the three way held at Marion Co. you got to be crazy. I can show you the film if need be. You are correct that Moore did score one TD. It was on the third play on about a 70 yard TD pass after the Warriors DB fell down in man coverage. The 2 previous plays were both huge loses and Moore did nothing else on Offense even with 12 more plays. Marion by the way scored also once during the first 15 plays and ran out of plays inside the 20 or would have scored again because Moore has not slowed the Warriors down yet. Then when the teams went 10 more plays after the refs left Marion scored again and Moore could not score and the Warriors had there second defensive unit in. Against Sweetwater Moore moved the ball a little better but still lost. I don't want to down the Raiders because I feel they will be a tuff single A team and hard to handle for alot of people. I just want to clear things up because I am tired of hearing some Raider fans talking about how the y beat Marion and Sweetwater in the scrimmage. That is just plain crazy and I will set down and show the film to the non believers since we tape our scrimmages.

  7. Are you sure on the numbers in Dunlap? Last I heard it was around 28 players including the incoming freshman. That was from a pretty reliable source. Marion will have around 32 to 33 players this year including frehman. 3 players did not play in the scrimmage tuesday with various injuries. Also on the Sweetwater stats I would like to venture that most of those yards came in the final 10 plays when the officials had left. And were gained primarily on the Warriors defensive reserves. I am not sure what pass interference you were talking about because in the secondary we had one penalty and it was during the Moore Co. scrimmage for a 5 yard incidential face mask. All three teams should be good this year and all made some mistakes. I thought it was a good scrimmage for everyone involved and wish both Moore and Sweetwater good luck this season.

  8. I know that you can find ways to beat the clock on 40 times. We have some guys in the 4.5 an 4.6 range that were timed on the track. What I like to see is the game speed. The guys may not have blistering track speed but never seem to get caught or run down in the game. That is the speed that matters to me as a coach.
