  1. .........As have the coaches as well. Good luck to the coaches and to the kids of EHHS. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  2. EastAdvocate, You seen to really understand what is going on in East. I have no clue who you are and wether you work for the school or not, but I have respect for you coming on here and stating that mistakes were made on both sides, not just on the coaching front. I hope more people in the community can rally around your comments and make it a better working atmosphere for the next coach. I think coaches have gotten on here and did some bashing, according to gooddaysarecoming, on East and the community because Jones was given only two years in a situation where they were not going to win no matter what happened. They should have been allowed to play a Freshman and JV schedule for two years with ONLY Freshmen and Sophomores. But the Board of Education thought otherwise. That's fine. But....Because of that fact alone, the football coaches deserved more time. Other coaches know what was going in East and they know the football staff and kids were not given a fair shake. It takes time to build a program just to compete. I am sure the community wants a winner, but it is going to take a long time for that to happen. I am not affiliated with East Hickman in anyway, but I do want to see them succeed. Whoever gets the job, good luck to them and stand strong in your beliefs. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  3. What 3 coaches left the program? Stewart County has been real solid the last couple of seasons. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  4. Do not overlook Cookeville. Coach Joslin and his staff do an incredible job on the plateau. IMO, Giles may have overloaded their plate scheduling Cookeville. That is not a slap in the face to Giles because they are very good. But, Cookeville will be very sound and very deep at all positions. Their special teams will probably be the best that Giles will see all year. This game will definetely let Giles County know where thay stand. Win or lose, it will be a great game for Giles in preparing for a district run. Good luck to both teams. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  5. That is tough! But, it also shows how classy those men are. They could just sit around and do nothing and let the kids take a football to the field and play 20 on 20 touch football. They are doing it the right way and keeping them in the weightroom and preparing them for the next staff that will be there for about 2 years also. If the fine folk of East Hickman don't realize what they have just done to these kids and these coaches, then they are oblivious to what it takes to run a program. Nice job East! Good luck to all the East Football Coaches. You have shown your true colors which are shining bright!! You have just gained a ton respect from the coaching fraternity in TN. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  6. Let me guess: ummm.... You have a reputation to uphold? /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  7. Is he the new HC @ MCHS or West Creek? I am CORNfused /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  8. Does anyone have any input on the Dickson / Beech scrimmage tonight? /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  9. Name please. Thanx. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  10. Big chief is correct about the squat ruling. Besides, after coaching at the college level, it scares me to see kids throw 500-600 lbs and try to parallel squat it. Many injuries can occur. IMO, it is better to do REP % maxes on squats. It reduces the risk of injury. It sounds good to do massive weight, but 90% of the time, they do not do it right. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  11. Coach P, Well said. WHat do you teach and what are you certified to teach? /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  12. Ridiculous! It appears that Coach Jones has moved on. Coach P gets on here and supports his head coach and the uphill (VERTICAL) climb they have in trying to build a program. Coach P, keep standing up for the values you believe in. Do not let anyone change that. We live in a world where people on the outside are always trying to tear coaches down with behind the back negativity. It is an honorable and beauitiful profession you have chosen, in spite of a community that has no clue. I know for a fact that the football coaches of EHHS are GOOD, honorable people. Keep going! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  13. Coach P, Good post! Most people who really understand the situation know how far behind the 8 ball you were these first 2 years. I respect all you FB coaches at EAST. The sad part of all this is that some of the fine folks of the Lyles community and the surrounding area who do not know a rock from a hole in the ground have NO clue what it takes to be successful. WHat has happened now is this: East Hickman just got further behind in trying to establish a solid program. I hate it for the kids who were mentally tough enough to stick around and suffer the 1st two years. I can guarantee this: Those tough minded kids will forever respect Coach Jones and his staff for the lessons they have learned. For the ones that did not, well....they will just have to settle for living thru their own kids and then telling their grandkids how good they COULD have been and blaming everyone but themselves. Good luck in the future. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  14. Quick! Someone get a hold of them and let them know what they will be in for at East Hickman. Anyway....prolly not true. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  15. East Advocate, You seem to be one of the FEW people in East that really seems to understand how far behind the 8 ball the football program is. I appreciate your honesty. I also think more (all) people should follow your lead. I have nothing to do with Hickman County, but I would like to shake your hand. East really needs more people like involved in their school and community. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  16. I have been lying in wait ready to pounce. Not much to say when you have no clue what is going on. A wise man once said: "you learn a lot more by keeping your mouth shut than you do by running your mouth." I am also interested in what is going on at West Creek and Montgomery Central. It sure has been quiet. Good luck to both teams and to coaches who are interested in these jobs. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  17. From what I understand, the AD, Mr. Birchwell is conducting off-season workouts. At least someone is keeping the guys active during this time of no head coach. I wonder how many kids they have participating? Good luck to the Indians. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  18. Runit, sorry to disappoint you. I had to go out to the shed and look at my chains. They are 11 yds long!!!! No wonder we could never get a 1st down. Anyway, I wish someone would come on here and let us know what is going on in Montgomery County: Central, West Creek? Is Johnson going to go to West Creek with his kids he coached this year? IF so, who would get the Northeast job at that point? So many uncertainties, /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> it is giving me a headache!
  19. I feel better now. Thank you. By the way....I resemble that remark. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  20. Runit, It has now been 4 days, 22 hrs, and 50 minutes since you last posted. I am getting worried. I am starting to think we lost a good thing. What is going on over @ MCHS? /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  21. Actually URSUS, I believe Coach Pearson graduated in Robertson County, I may be wrong? Murphree graduated from Waverly High School. There has been others from other areas in the past. DC has generally hired from within with people who are DC folk. It is not a bad thing if they are qualified to do the job. I don't think I would call it politics. I think it is good people who can coach who want to "go back home." There have been a few cases where hometown boys did not get jobs @ DC when applied for. That is not so bad either. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  22. Runit, Where are you? It has been exactly 2 days and 12 hrs since your last post! We got this post going and now you have fallen off the face of the Earth. You hurt my feelings buy calling me fat and lazy, but it really hurts that you are ingnoring me now. I need to know that I am loved and appreciated. Bring it! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  23. You are absolutely correct runit. I know absolutely nothing of the situation. I will just sit back and eat my popcorn /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" /> . BUT....only if it is loaded with butter. By the way, I perfer the term sveldt if you are going to call me names! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  24. This is my opinion only. I think West Creek will end up being a pretty good job. I have no clue who will the coach. Usually the Clarksville schools have at least 1 good team each year. Northeast at 1 time was really good in the 90's, and were pretty good this year. Clarksville has been real solid over the last 5-6 years. Northwest had a really good team a few years ago. Kenwood has had a really good team in the past. Rossview has been pretty good at times, especially this past season. Montgomery Central had a real good team in '04 I believe. Clarksville has always had good talent. The one constant they always have is speed. If someone can come in and get the kids out and work around the speed bumps, then they can be successful. I hope that is the case. Good luck to all involved. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
