  1. Thoughts on this one? I know that Marshall County is traditionally a pretty competitve program but this year they appear to be struggling. Might be East's best opportunity to date to get a district win. How will we match up with them this year? Hopefully the players and coaches can regain some momentum and bounce back this week. Good luck to both sides, stay healthy and hungry!
  2. Wow, I knew Spring Hill is a much improved football team. I also knew that East Hickman, while making some strides in their program would have their hands full in this one. I just hope the players and coaches can move on and get focused on the next opponent. The remainder of the schedule is a tough road. Keep working hard! Hats off to Spring Hill, best of luck the rest of the way!
  3. Good luck East! I hope that both teams stay injury free. East has been making progress since the doors first opened, Spring Hill is much improved and heading in the right direction as well. The rain may be a factor for both sides. East has shown the potential to establish themselves in the running game. I think this game will be a good gauge to see where we are against another quality opponent.
  4. Keep your heads up, and get ready for Spring Hill!
  5. Best of luck to East tonight! Hope both teams stay injury free. Sorry to read some of the other junk on this thread. I hate to see people jumping on here to complain about how the coaches are doing things. 2-0 is a great start! Some things must be going right. This year's region schedule will be tough one, if some people are already griping at 2-0, a loss or two against some quality opponents might really bring the crazies out of the woodwork. You would have thought we would learn our lesson, can't attract and keep good coaches without the support of the community. Even more disturbing is dragging a high school football player through the mud to the point he feels that he has to come on here and explain himself. Shameful I say. People thrive on the drama I guess. Best of luck to the players and coaches this season!
  6. Congratulations to the players and coaches! Stay healthy and hungry and have a great week of practice to prepare for Fairview.
  7. Congrats to east on their win over Stewart Co....... Good luck against Perry Co!
  8. Interested in hearing how things are shaping up for this season, scrimmage results, jamboree etc. East is going into their third year of competition with new coaches and a new region....... I would hope that some excitement around the program would be building. We all know that the east faithful (myself included) are able to put together a negative thread, let see if we can get something positive going and get behind the coaches and players. How are things going at east? Whats the good word????
  9. They did participate in at least one (maybe more) passing league games with Columbia, Hickman, Lawrence Co, Loretto, Mt. Pleasant, Perry Co, and Spring Hill. The game I was at looked like they had about 15-20 players there. Thanks for the info. How did they look? I am on a job out of state and only get home on the weekends. hoping to be wrapped up and home by football season..... catch some games. Definately seems to be a struggle getting a football culture established at East. Hopefully this will start to change. The road doesn't get any easier in this new region.
  10. Going to try to revive this thread...... all quiet on the football front at East surely by now we have had some scrimmages/passing leagues under the belt. Any info on how things are going? The last I heard summer workout numbers were low. I hope that has picked up since the dead period and the parents/players and coaches are getting focused on the season ahead. Whats the scoop form lyles???
  11. No doubt, the man knows baseball. Last year was a learning experience for him I'm sure as he made the transition to high school ball. East put a much better product on the field because of him. He got a RAW deal at East...........but then again most coaches do!
  12. A man I work with has a nephew on the team. Says that the coach made summer workouts optional (not sure if I can believe that). I have heard the numbers are low, something like 6-8 players showing up consistently. I hope that is not the case. I am afraid that it is going to continue to be hard to get a successful program up and running in Lyles if the parents and players don't buy in to the type of work ethic it takes to win.
  13. Any word on whether the East Hickman Eagles will be participating in any passing leagues or fall scrimmages? Has coach King been able to get any new assistant coaches on board? Hopefully the summer workout participation is better than spring practice was. Go East!
  14. East had no scrimmages or spring game. The last day of spring practice was cancelled, I was told they only had about 8 or 9 kids show up. I am concerned about the state of football at east. A long road ahead for Coach King I am afraid. I hope the community steps up. It would be nice to have the interest in football that other communities display in our area.
  15. I am disheartened to hear that the numbers of players out for spring ball is so low (I am told 19-30 kids depending on the day). What gives in Lyles? People seemed so sure that with the resignation of Coach Jones the football population would boom. It would appear that this is not the case, maybe the small numbers are indicative of other community (or society in general) issues rather than one of coaching as we have been led to believe. Any word about the assistants? Are they going to stay on staff? I hope that some continuity can be found. I wish Coach King and the players the best! Keep working hard in the face of what appears to still be an uphill climb and a difficult situation!
