  1. Thoughts on this one? I know that Marshall County is traditionally a pretty competitve program but this year they appear to be struggling. Might be East's best opportunity to date to get a district win. How will we match up with them this year? Hopefully the players and coaches can regain some momentum and bounce back this week. Good luck to both sides, stay healthy and hungry!
  2. Wow, I knew Spring Hill is a much improved football team. I also knew that East Hickman, while making some strides in their program would have their hands full in this one. I just hope the players and coaches can move on and get focused on the next opponent. The remainder of the schedule is a tough road. Keep working hard! Hats off to Spring Hill, best of luck the rest of the way!
  3. Good luck East! I hope that both teams stay injury free. East has been making progress since the doors first opened, Spring Hill is much improved and heading in the right direction as well. The rain may be a factor for both sides. East has shown the potential to establish themselves in the running game. I think this game will be a good gauge to see where we are against another quality opponent.
  4. Keep your heads up, and get ready for Spring Hill!
  5. Best of luck to East tonight! Hope both teams stay injury free. Sorry to read some of the other junk on this thread. I hate to see people jumping on here to complain about how the coaches are doing things. 2-0 is a great start! Some things must be going right. This year's region schedule will be tough one, if some people are already griping at 2-0, a loss or two against some quality opponents might really bring the crazies out of the woodwork. You would have thought we would learn our lesson, can't attract and keep good coaches without the support of the community. Even more disturbing is dragging a high school football player through the mud to the point he feels that he has to come on here and explain himself. Shameful I say. People thrive on the drama I guess. Best of luck to the players and coaches this season!
  6. Congratulations to the players and coaches! Stay healthy and hungry and have a great week of practice to prepare for Fairview.
  7. Congrats to east on their win over Stewart Co....... Good luck against Perry Co!
  8. Interested in hearing how things are shaping up for this season, scrimmage results, jamboree etc. East is going into their third year of competition with new coaches and a new region....... I would hope that some excitement around the program would be building. We all know that the east faithful (myself included) are able to put together a negative thread, let see if we can get something positive going and get behind the coaches and players. How are things going at east? Whats the good word????
  9. They did participate in at least one (maybe more) passing league games with Columbia, Hickman, Lawrence Co, Loretto, Mt. Pleasant, Perry Co, and Spring Hill. The game I was at looked like they had about 15-20 players there. Thanks for the info. How did they look? I am on a job out of state and only get home on the weekends. hoping to be wrapped up and home by football season..... catch some games. Definately seems to be a struggle getting a football culture established at East. Hopefully this will start to change. The road doesn't get any easier in this new region.
  10. Going to try to revive this thread...... all quiet on the football front at East surely by now we have had some scrimmages/passing leagues under the belt. Any info on how things are going? The last I heard summer workout numbers were low. I hope that has picked up since the dead period and the parents/players and coaches are getting focused on the season ahead. Whats the scoop form lyles???
  11. No doubt, the man knows baseball. Last year was a learning experience for him I'm sure as he made the transition to high school ball. East put a much better product on the field because of him. He got a RAW deal at East...........but then again most coaches do!
  12. A man I work with has a nephew on the team. Says that the coach made summer workouts optional (not sure if I can believe that). I have heard the numbers are low, something like 6-8 players showing up consistently. I hope that is not the case. I am afraid that it is going to continue to be hard to get a successful program up and running in Lyles if the parents and players don't buy in to the type of work ethic it takes to win.
  13. Any word on whether the East Hickman Eagles will be participating in any passing leagues or fall scrimmages? Has coach King been able to get any new assistant coaches on board? Hopefully the summer workout participation is better than spring practice was. Go East!
  14. East had no scrimmages or spring game. The last day of spring practice was cancelled, I was told they only had about 8 or 9 kids show up. I am concerned about the state of football at east. A long road ahead for Coach King I am afraid. I hope the community steps up. It would be nice to have the interest in football that other communities display in our area.
  15. I am disheartened to hear that the numbers of players out for spring ball is so low (I am told 19-30 kids depending on the day). What gives in Lyles? People seemed so sure that with the resignation of Coach Jones the football population would boom. It would appear that this is not the case, maybe the small numbers are indicative of other community (or society in general) issues rather than one of coaching as we have been led to believe. Any word about the assistants? Are they going to stay on staff? I hope that some continuity can be found. I wish Coach King and the players the best! Keep working hard in the face of what appears to still be an uphill climb and a difficult situation!
  16. Thanks for the input! Any word out of Lyles about how spring practice is going? Did many new kids come out? Will there be any type of spring game? Thanks......
  17. Alright, somebody school me up........ a LONG time ago when I played you were either a wing-t, double wing, single wing, split back veer, wishbone option, stack or power I team. I know that the spread is all the rage these days. But how many schools of thought are there on the spread offense? I know the few games that I was able to watch last year we were, by my idea anyway, a spread team. No Huddle, everybody has a wrist band etc. I know that Tony Franklin was the Offensive Co-ordinator at Auburn and is now at MTSU. How is his system different? More passing? Somebody bring me out of the stone age /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  18. Any word about when or if they will be still having spring practice? Has Coach King been able to be at the school to get things up and going or will things come together better once summer gets here and he is done with school in Dyer County? I wish Coach King the best, I know with the late hire spring may be difficult to pull off. Is he planning on bringing anyone in with him or is he going to keep the current coaches?
  19. Not a coach, unless you count coaching my kids t-ball team back in the day! Couldn't afford to raise a family on what we pay teachers in this country. I work for a construction company based out of Birmingham Alabama. Sorry, I don't do remodels so I can't help you out with the new kitchen you wanted. But if you need a school, hospital or a factory built, no sweat we do them every day! Hopefully the mission that we should be trying to accomplish will be for our community to support the team and the new coach! Thanks for all you and others like you do for the betterment youth everywhere! You have a nice weekend now, eaglemommie17!
  20. Wow, one would think that since the last east thread went 20 pages there would be more interest about the hiring of a new coach! Must be some folks out there laying back and licking their wounds....... Again, good luck to the players and congratulations to Coach King!
  21. Glad to hear that a decision has been made! Maybe all of the crazies will go back into the woodwork and the players can focus on getting ready for the upcoming season. Hopefully we will get behind this man and start supporting our program like a community should! Will there be any kind of "get to know you" kind of function? Congratulations and good luck to the new coach!
  22. I make no bones about supporting Coach Jones and what he tried to do in his time at East. The Hickman county times had a nice article by a gentleman by the name of Mr. Victory that put the program in perspective in an intelligent manner. The fact is......... support Coach Jones or not, he is no longer the coach at East. It is time to move forward with this process and get a coach named so the kids playing football can have a chance to get whatever offense/defense in place and build a working relationship with that person and continue to grow the program. It is time to stop flogging a dead horse........... I hope that we will do a better job this next go around to show a coach that East will support its coaches and be a positive part of developing competitive football in our area. I travel a great deal with my work and frankly I am tired of our community being the butt of any sports related talk that I encounter. People in other communities get on here and read this stuff and think the loonies are running the show. I know a little trash talk is part of the game and I admit that I have been pulled into it from time to time on here. Some things are a bit overboard......... like the following from "GoodDaysAreComing": they were right in having issues with last years baseball Coach, He turned out to be as everyone thought. Now he will be going where he belongs.....JAIL. Does everyone know who got this pedofile the Baseball job at East Hickman????? can someone make an Educated guess???? As far as the old baseball coach.......if what he is accused of is true, may he never see a day of freedom again. Our children need to be protected from those types of behaviors without a doubt. "GoodDaysAreComing" I believe I will take an educated guess.......... actually I will take two educated guesses: 1. You didn't hit spellcheck, so you didn't realize that pedofile is actually spelled P-E-D-O-P-H-I-L-E 2. You are trying to make some link between the outgoing football coach and the old baseball coach, which is totally classless and irresponsible. Dislike the mans methods, dislike his coaching style, heck just plain old dislike him for whatever reason.............. but shots like that are uncalled for and shameful! I wish for all sides involved this thread would get shut down, it has accomplished nothing......... Good luck to the new coach and the kids. I am done with this side show!
  23. O.K. let me see if I have this straight. The paper listed 7 applicants that were supposed to get interviews. According to posts on here one withdrew, and in another thread (Cannon County)it appears that another one of the seven may have that job lined up. That leaves 5. A couple that appear to have had successful experience at other programs (one at Fairview which is a similar size school as East Hickman). Yet, several people have posted on here that Coach Harris at the middle school is the next coach. Why is that? Before people jump down my throat...........I am not questioning him as a middle school coach, I know that he has had success on that level, but what makes him the front runner for the high school job............ if in fact he really is? Seems to me that one of these other coaches that have had pretty extensive high school experience might deserve a close look.
  24. I thought our thread was dysfunctional........ You all are catching up......... Regardless of who you all hire, without the support of the parents, community and the administration.......success will be hard to attain. I know someone will kindly point out to me that I don't have a dog in this hunt and tell me to go back to my rock in Hickman County but I have watched what a lack of support will do. We successfully ran off a good coach and now are looking for another and we have only been in existance 2 years! It doesn't seem like we have a long list of applicants beating down the door to get in either....... The community needs to create an environment that attracts and retains quality coaches. Environment doesn't always = facilities either. East is a brand new school with the best of everything yet it probably will not attract championship caliber coaching due to the community attitude. Good Luck with your coaching hire, I hope you all get the best fit for your community. Whoever you get......... get behind them and do whatever you can (positively)to help the young men, coaches and program succeed. I hope our community has learned its lesson and that we will support our next coach better than we did our last! Everyone has got to pull the rope in the same direction!
  25. Any word on when they will have a coach named?
