  1. Ooltewah in the 8 slot? I beg to differ, considering they return just about every starter and with the addition of Emilio Sanchez to the offensive attack could really increase the Owls potential to advance further on in the post season.

  2. Ah, well the time has come for baseball in Chattanooga to get heated up again. As stated the past two seasons, the Owls are coming back strong and potentially have the best team in the district. Vandy signee Kyler Burke could easily be considered the best hurler in the city. Hydas, McDade, Markum and Howard will also put up strong seasons similar to years past. Looking for an impressive season out of Red Bank. UK signee Tyler Henry leads their staff, Geren behind the plate, and underclassmen who've played varsity the past two years are now the core of this team. Soddy Daisy will always be in the hunt with the likes of Coach Garland. Middle infield of Alexander and Boron is still in tact. Central, well, I'm not too sure how to describe Central but I wish them the best of luck this season... couldn't assume that with Brainerd out of the district, Central would go O fer....

  3. Every ooltewah game i have been to in the past 2 years laura wood has been there sitting next to you, so don't even tell me she hasn't seen the 10 kids from ooltewah

The only player that Wood would've observed the closest is the only returning starter, Wes Murray. Other players such as BJ Sanders and Jensen Morgan received minimal playing time last year, therefore she most likely didn't have a good perception of the other players capabilities.

  4. Wes is the only returning starter if I'm not mistaken... guys like BJ Sanders, Jensen Morgan, and Casey Roach could start this year as well, not too mention football standout Brian Marshall. Read on another thread that Ooltewah picked up a 6'1 guy that was supposed to start practicing yesterday... anybody know what thats about?

  5. it will be very tough for ooltewah be as strong or stronger than last year..you have to remember they have lost i think 15 or 16 seniors in the last 2 seasons, they are building back up now, but do have a few pretty good players in wes murray and bj sanders, and a few more than can get it done on the high school level like roach and morgan and marshall, along with a few new guys..it should be interesting to see how they do this year

I was kind of surprised nobody else had mentioned Murray until you did... BJ and Roach are solid, too, and if Marshall is as electric on the court as he is on the football field, I'd be interested to see what potential he could have. As you said, MNB21, it is a rebuilding year, but hopefully Baker's Boys can hold their own.

  6. Haha FHS Ad, the Owl fans are used to hearing about us being rooted against... join the club... and BBIsBest, I retract my statement.. nearly flawless might've been an overstatement, however, in the past few weeks, they've seemed to step up when it really matters, whether it be the second half or overtime, they've found a way to get the job done. This team has a lot of powerful weapons in all aspects of the game.... its whether or not they decide to apply those abilities is up to them.

  7. Can't wait to see this one! Very exciting and it's guaranteed the Owls are looking for some redemption. The brand of football they've been playing the past few weeks is nearly flawless. Heard Brian Marshall is back and healthy? And I think the key to this game is indeed the pass defense... Owls secondary better be on their toes.

  8. GO GET 'EM OWLS! Win here, get to Knoxville, so I can go next week! On the ironic side of things, my father was originally transferred to Kingsport from C-Town this summer, meaning I would've gone to DB this year... luckily after being in Kingsport for six weeks, he was shipped of to Lexington...

  9. I agree and do enjoy watching the talent that the Owls have on the field. Sorry for the Neg reply to Newballs. I let his constant neg replys get the best of me.

As I have said . I didn't count the Owls out until the Score went to 28 points. Then I thought your coach should have put in the 2nd string to save your starters for OR and SD.

There was great team tackling on both sides. It was the game I expected but not the score. I talked to Mr Reveiz after the game and he said he was surprised at the score.

    Good Luck against OR.

Rigger, I know this game is long and over with, as both teams have this week to prepare for, but you bring up a good point. You say you thought our coach might've brought in the 2nd string and rest the starters after being behind. This is something I noticed @ the Farragut game, too many clean jerseys. I think the fact that a few guys are playing both ways is in partial credit to the injuries their receiving for doing so... just a thought, not criticizing Monroe's coaching style, but it might be a reason why we seemed so winded in the second half.

  10. This path the Owls are taking unfortunately seems familar (excluding the loss to WB)... losing to Farragut, with Oak Ridge next.... well, as I mentioned on another thread, hopefully our boys stick through it and give the Cats a good, hard fought game... a reduction of turnovers is most definitely needed, along with some healthy guys (Marshall, Gaston) back on the field.... anyone know their status?

  11. Now, being a former student athlete from Ooltewah, I know that its not like our sports programs to lay down and die. If were gonna go down, we'll put up a fight and won't quit til the end.... while I was at Ooltewah, and I'm sure Grad, MN21 and people of that sort can testify to this, the mentality was to always give EFFORT and to not give up when others expected us to. However, sometimes a loss of this mentality leads to no good, so hopefully, our boys stick through it and give it their all in the next 2 weeks.

  12. Well, I'll hand it to Farragut... Ooltewah yet again with more injuries and seemed worn down, but theres no excuse for some of the turnovers and whatnot. Oh well, next week is another big game and hopefully the Owls can find some redemption against Oak Ridge... it'll take a lot but I have confidence in them. The drive from Lexington was worth it to see some old friends... ;)

  13. They seam to have a new one every year. Those soccer players have to be good for something! I think the one from last year graduated.

Seems like those soccer players are coming in handy for the Owls, too... shout to my boy, # 99 THE BUS, but anyways, I'm making the trip to Knoxville from Lexington to see this game, so hopefully my Owls come through with a victory... and rigger, as someone else mentioned, I wouldn't overlook the linebackers from Ooltewah... got some big boys in KB and Blake... and a sidenote, away from football, congrats to Hunter Hydas... signed to play baseball with Lee in 2006.

  14. Anything else to brag about, I'll give ya something to brag about... considering every one of our sports teams (on the boys side, I know) beat Central in every sport last year, ranging from basketball, to even bowling... and about showing class, I'm just curious, how do you define class? Showing up to another school's homecoming painted up? Razzing the other players from the stands? We shut you up with the points on the scoreboard, because after all, thats what matters most...
