1. Come on now. Dont get on me. My last sentence was neither needs to look past week 1.

So be more clear on who you are talking to.

But since you want to growl, good luck stopping the pass. you couldn't do it last year and your all state qb is gone.

I don't believe my comments had anything to do with you...more with the thread in general...Of course had I been to talking to you in particular I would have added your quote to my first post...I did notice that you said that you had a game before the Camden game which is smart on your part..As far as me stopping any pass well lets just say I won't have to as I am far to old to be out on that field playing.... :D

And as far as last years game is concerned I was more impressed with the running back Cook more than I was with Hayes...But I had been watching a QB that amassed over 6000 yrds passing and had a hand in over 80 TD's so it's a little hard to impress me as QB's go....Wes had to learn a drastically different offense under a new coach and didn't really get a grasp on it until Week 3 vs Westview...So really in terms of being lucky,I guess McKenzie was lucky not to play OC later in the year.

As OC would not have wanted to play McKenzie. What alot of people dont realize is what when Drew started vs OC last year, that was only his 4th start as a QB. He did not start until week 10 of the previous year. So actually he was still maturing. I know all about Wes Moore. His sister actually worked for me in Murray KY. I was very impressed w/ his arm strength to be so short. Honestly, though, if you would have played us later in the year, we would have had atleast 20 by the half if not more.

  2. As in the pass happy offense of 2 years ago or last years balanced attack that you guys didn't even come close to seeing last year??

Central will run more than pass as they will try to wear you down where you have nothing left in the 4th quarter...But they are capable of passing...Grady threw for around 1,000 yrds in 8th grade and threw well last year on the freshman team....OC will take what you give them...But after the physical pounding they took last year after the Brighton playoff loss, they hit the weight room on  the Monday after the season ended and stayed there until 2 a days started in Aug..So they will try to smash-mouth you first....

    825309955

    good luck!!!

  3. Week 2  ????...If I'm not mistaken McKenzie and Camden have games on Aug.27 as in week 1...So you guys might ought to worry about those games first....But on the other hand and the more I think about it...Go ahead and overlook Obion Co and Waverly.....Neither McKenzie or Camden is good enough to overlook anyone.... :D

  4. from what i saw in the jamboree mckenzies o-line isnt that good at all. they are big but theyre slow. our d-line is a lot quicker. i dont think hayes or boyd will be the factor. this game will be won on the line. whoever wins that battle will probably win the game. we will just have to see when it gets here. right now we got week 1 to worry about.

    825309940

i agree w/ you on that. Football games are always won in the "trenches". I still give the edge to McKenzie for the simple fact that they are pass oriented offense and it is alot easier to stand up and pass block(punch) than it is to run block.

On the other hand, I have read alot of things about both teams on here and from what I can tell neither has a stellar defense. So it may be the team that comes up w/ the big play late in the game.

But one thing we all will agree on, neither team needs to look past wk 1.

  5. Obion Co. has looked suspect on defense this summer in the scrimmages and jamboree...The offense will have to carry them for a couple of games...If the OC Rebels can control the ball on long drives and keep McKenzie's Air Hayes offense off  the field they will win...Was it true the McK Rebels threw the ball 25 times in 2 eight minute quarters in the jamboree Sat night??You never can tell with the Jax Sun stats....28-7 McK is a little hopeful I would say....Home opener...new unis...revenge factor...all adds up to a 24-19 OC Rebel win...... thumb

Are you guys still in the same offense?

  6. 89.3, The Rock will carry McKenzie Rebel football also this season along w/ the other FM station.  I dont recall the call letters.  Just trying to get that out to everyone that listens on Friday nights.

Pass along to everyone so they will tune in.

  8. rebelman4life,

Don't get mad at me because I too am a Rebel for life!!! Paid my dues in McKenzie a long time ago and am still here. But, even though everything you said is true, we didn't get it done tonight. Too many penalties and mistakes.

Yeah, we have the potential but, they have to get the job done on the field or it doesn't count. "Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda's" don't count on the scoreboard. Our offense needs to work the bugs out and the defense has got to step it up a bunch to get into the playoffs in the #2 spot. We don't even want to talk about the #1 spot right now!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tonight SHOULDA been ours but it wasn't. That was the first thing that went through my mind too. Actually it WOULDA been ours if we COULDA played a bit better. See what I mean. Hopefully, our Rebels will be OK this season. We will see but, there are some big tests ahead soon. If we can get Camden and Adamsville under our belt I'll feel better. And Riverside and Chester

    County....................!

    Come on week #1!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Go Rebels!

    Duck,

How did Cook look at RB?

  9. How's it going VnT1???? Good to hear from you after a year almost. Give this some thought-----our Rebels problem and KEY isn't in our offense. It is in our defense!!!!!!!!! The fun-and-gun (and run) offense is still alive, well and present at MHS. Our problem will be stopping opponents from outscoring us.

Our defense was ravaged by graduation and it deosn't seem that anyone has stepped up to fill those shoes yet. The first two weeks will tell us a lot and I won't be negative yet but, this is one game I KNOW!!!!!!! The D has to step up bigtime or we could be in big trouble.

We slipped up on some folks last season with our new offense but, the region opponents (heck, all our opponents) know our game now on offense. Our D will have to make the difference and they aren't ready for that YET!!!!!! Naturally, I'm not writing them off, just saying that they need to develop about 2x to really help the Rebels.

I have other thoughts but, I will wait a while and let us get a game or two under our belt.    Then I'll cry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    825308438

Duck!!!  Good to hear from you and good to see someone on here from McKenzie who is objective and not bragging about how good there brother is.  Anyway.  I think you are right.  We are really going to have to score this year.  Another thing we have to do is we have to start out hitting on all cylinders.  Last year there were several games that we were slow getting started.  The Camden game being one of them.  Biggest thing on D when you are playing a team that has awesome speed and Camden does w/ Josh Boyd, is you have to contain to the inside and the DE must stay at home and be disciplined.  If they get outside, we are going to have to have good pursuit angles to make a tackle.  Thats another thing, we must not let people break tackles and we have to swarm to the football.

  10. Keys to Victory.

    McKenzie

The obvious is Cook and Hayes have to have the big night. But also, McKenzies offense can't start out sluggish. They must be firing on all cylinders from the get go. Last year, we started out slow and could not get in a groove in several games.

    Defense

With Boyd, the DE must stay at home and keep him contained. If he gets outside, his speed is too much.

    Camden

No doubt Camden must take some chances and get pressure on Hayes. He will pick you apart if you give him time to sit in the pocket.

The old saying Defense wins championships could not be any truer when talking about this game.

I give the nod to McKenzie (yes, I am biased) at home. McKenzie by 2 td's.

  11. Not really a coming out and bursting on to the field song, but Kenny Chesney has a song called Never Gonna Feel That Way Again. The opening of the song is about high school football.

"Friday night butterflies. Like clock work they arrive.

A little chill in the October sky. A little nervous before the kick off came.

4 qurarters win or lose. Spend Saturday black and blue.

It was what I loved to do and it was more than just a game.

It was my life and it was fun. Another season of my life is done.

Another race I'm glad i got to run. Another chapter of my life is over.

No I'm never gonna feel like that again. Time is rushing by me like the wind.

Never be as young as I was then. No I'm never gonna feel like that again......"

Really cool song that will take probably all of us old football players back.

  12. I could not agree w/ you more. I understand that we are going w/ a 1 back set this year. This tells me 2 things. Coach Comer is going to use Cody to for hard nose smash mouth football to set up the pass. The 2nd thing is, w/ a 1 back set, I would guess we would have at least 3 receivers each down which should spread the field and open up the running lanes a little bit. And it also gives Hayes a chance to check off and throw if the LB's or Safety is cheating up.

Once again, the talk has started!!!!

    Go Rebels!!!
