I don’t know why , but I feel like it’s going to be Hodge.. I assume he would be first on the list if not Carr or Frost .. completely speculative though .. maybe they surprise us all . Would love to see what Lampkins could do at Mckenzie but he seems content at Gleason and not sure that would be a popular hire amongst the Rebel faithful.

I have made the comment to many people over the years that if Lampkins went somewhere with a stream of talent, he would do very well. His teams are always well prepared, and get after you. He has had spurts over the years at Gleason.  I respect the heck out of him for not chasing the all mighty $$ and being loyal.

I initially thought it might be the coach Carr guy that’s going to Lexington but I think he’ll stay there to keep his image.  Since there’s been a week or so for things to transpire, I think it’ll be Hodge which would be a good hire for the rebels

I have heard 5 names. Only one confirmed.

First smart thing Milan has done in years. Great coach but I don't know if he's enough of a disaplinarion as Milan needs right now. Things pretty rough in Milan these days!

Those boys have no idea. Their world is gonna look a lot different. I highly doubt they have ever been through a summer workout like they are about to do. You are right.  It will be Wade’s way or the highway. Everyone has to buy in. Parents better be ready. Their world is about to change as well.

With that being said, it will be good if everyone buys in.

Maybe but in my opinion the last 4 years for McKenzie the talent level is as good as y’all have ever had and it is rare for small schools.  It doesn’t come around too often.

The greatest run of athletes ever in McKenzie and I have only been here since 1991 when I started Bethel.

yeah, I may have went a little far with that LOL.  Gotta try to get an edge somehow.  I guess I was just going off of what he did in middle school.  He was the best of the three at that age,  Rushing and passing yards.  I know you can’t use that, but it’s fun to be positive for their team, right?  He was just a freshman this past season.  I would have liked to have seen him play QB a little more this past season He had a broke wrist or something l part of the season and then the other part where he did get to come in at QB we were up by 50 so no pass plays were called.  But he can run.   Melton will be special too.  People don’t realize how fast he is.  The Arline kid has been hitting the weights hard.  This season will be his breakout season which will only be his junior season.  This is fun talking some football and having opinions.  Don’t mean to come across as argumentative, just my opinion and having some fun.

Melton and Arline in the backfield is a good one two punch.  Melton can go in the slot and blow past people.
Arlines time to shine. He has bulked up.  I noticed that at the football banquet.

What's wrong with the Wing T? Y'all don't want Scott Stidham to come over from Independence? Or even Swenson? Haha.

Regardless, McKenzie is going to be fine! I hope they don't settle for a coach. They're going to be okay!

I believe for this coming group, you try to keep the spread/rpo.  That is what this group has known since birth.

and no to the Wing T.

I respectfully disagree.  Yes, they’re losing Surber, Nordon, Fornara, and the Cunningham kid after this year that are real impactful players.  There are three or four other seniors, but they are average at best.  I promise you the QB coming behind Surber will be just as legit as the last two.  They’ll have Arline and the Melton kid the season next season back.  The 8th grade group coming up this next season has a couple of stud lineman.  In a couple years, they’ll be ready.  Watch out because the Brown kid can fly and throw the crap out of it.   He’s just an athlete.  Started both ways last year as a freshman.  Melton can fly and Airline can be a beast.  Just saying…..

Spot on. Melton has wheels. Brown has shown signs of being another great one at the QB positive.

Yes I agree, Surber is a great Sr. leader to have for a new coach.  They have a great shot to get back this season.  I do think the Rebel fans will have to lower expectations after this season.  It could be a few years before you see this kind of talent you have had the last few years.

Agree. Our next QB should be pretty good. Cole Brown.

In most cases, yes. Not in this case. This group is built for spread/rpo. That is what has made Comer so successful. He adapts.   I will say it like this. If we get an RPO guy, we are good.

But also, our guys have the football IQ that they could pick something else up without any problem.

New Coach...running the old coach's system? Sometimes people have an "Easier" system to learn. Not a chance some new dude runs your old dudes stuff.

5 months to learn a new system is far from a "short" time.

  11. Whoever comes to McKenzie has a very strong team coming back for next year and no one can debate that. I honestly believe whoever comes, needs to keep as much of Comer's offense as possible. What we don't need is trying to learn a new system in a short amount of time.  We are fortunate in having a high IQ QB coming back who can pretty well tell every person what to do on every play.

As far as who is coming, it is too early to speculate.  So many names floating around here on Coach T.  The job was posted yesterday on our website.

Most importantly, the boys still have to work, believe in themselves and trust whoever is chosen to lead them. Only time will tell.  But one thing for sure, come August 23, the lights come on and it's go time!

You must be talking about Crawford. She has been hurt a lot this year. Guess  that at is why. She put up 24 against us in our gym as a Freshman. Savannah Davis was hurt first half of the year last year and didn't get nominated either for Mckenzie. Dyersburg has a lot of talent over there and in Junior High. Y'all looked good too. Y'all had a good Tournament. Dyersburg, South Side and Upperman will be the three favorites next year, IMO. I would say either of y'all could win it in AAA. Dyersburg and South Side are very young.

I firmly believe if Savanna didn’t get hurt last year, she would have won it.
