As far as beating Elizabethton in a scrimmage, a scrimmage is just that - a scrimmage and players were being played out of position. Brittany Smith, one of our pitchers and better hitters, was not there, which doesn't make any difference but beating someone in a scrimmage doesn't really count for anything. I think the question was who did they play, not who did they scrimmage anyway. If my memory holds correct, EHS beat Unaka twice last year (10-0 and 7-3) in true games. I'm not knocking you guys, I hope Unaka goes on and wins the State, I'm just comparing apples to apples. Go Cyclones! Don't just be proud - be thankful! And last year is last year too. Why does everyone always get defensive when they are mentioned in a post as beaten. It's no disgrace and yes a scrimmage is a scrimmage, but Unaka has played a tough schedule to get better and I'm sure Elizabethton has too. Donald Ensor was named the new Head Football coach at Unaka and has already named a number of assistants to try and get the football program back in shape.

The biggest thing for alot of systems would be if LT is able to teach at the High School level. Alot of Systems will not hire people that have to teach at one school and can only coach at the high school. Carter Co is notorious for that but alot of systems will not hire if you are not able to teach since that is basically what you are SUPPOSED to be there for. Technically - Just making an observation.

Cloudland should be very proud that they made it to State, it is an honor none the less. It's a shame that the two strongest teams as everyone thinks are teams that were 2A last year and dropped down to 1A. Just be Proud of what you accomplished. Everyone gets a little jealous at the end of the year when they are sitting at home. Good Job and Hey even Cosby got beat pretty bad and they only had one (1) loss for the year. Anybody can be beaten on any given day - it's a proven fact. Good Luck next Year.

Wouldn't they have to sit out if they change schools but not residences? A few might change but most would probably stay.

It's funny how this worked out, they drop to 1A and get new players and coaches in football to dominate and they did for the most part and they were projected to dominate in Basketball but that really didn't work out and they get to move back up to 2A after next year because of enrollment - Just seems kinda funny to alot of people how they could drop and then have to move right back up after the 2 year period - just an observation. Not jealous, just tired of hearing how GREAT they were supposed to be since us in 1A are so pitiful.

The radio announcers last night talked about the calls that were made. Missed several walking calls but did seem to call the touchy/feelly fouls. Which can hurt in a tight ballgame. Both teams had several turnovers just due to mistakes. It was anyones game up until the very end.

You can look at Cloudland's schedule on here and see they are 15-18 for the season winning the last 7 games they've played - they seem to have peaked at the right time. They have found ways to win as of late and I'm sure hope to continue on the winning way. Just remember anybody can be beat on any given day - If Weddle had a bad night once it can happen again. Just let the first round be played before you predict the winner.

I think Brutus is basing his poll on their end of the year performance. Hampton is still standing and going to State - everybody else is finished. Unaka made it to a sub-state and nobody else did.

Hampton played pretty well the first three qtrs but in the fourth they played not to lose instead of just doing what they had been. But, you have to give Cloudland and Coach Smith their credit as well for their game plan.

It's a shame they can't move the regional closer to home since it is the District 1 teams for the the regional finals. It's going to come down to who wants it the most since these teams have played each other 3 times. Have a Safe Trip.
