  1. I don't know about the cocky, but I definitely agree with it looking nasty. I know this is awfully shallow on my part, but it made me pull for Chapel Hill's girls a little bit more than I would have. I was for them any way because they were the underdogs, but the hair just added fuel to the fire.

I, for one, always look for glitter in a team's hair, and THEN decide for which team I will cheer. :D

  2. Overrated?!?!?!?! You have to be joking...You'll see just how overrated they are come wednsday...

Swanson, I was quoting Ms. Summitt's post from earlier this year declaring Jackson Co. "overrated." I despise the term "overrated" because it is all relative and hinges on whomever is actually doing the rating. I've thrice ranted about my distaste for "overrated" on this forum.

    Jackson Co. by 20 :thumb:

Good luck to your Bulldogs, Swanson, hopefully we'll see them Saturday!

  3. This could be a 50 point game over Hampton. Jackson County is in the right bracket. You might as well pencil them in the championship game, two easy wins.

Ms. Summitt, "overrated" teams do not win by 50 ... "Overrated" teams don't win at all ... Hampton by however many it wants! ;):D:(;)

  4. The wrong time of the year to be losing. Jackson County is overrated.

Again with this "overrated" term. Who does the rating? Is there a body of people that rates every athletic team in the world, and if one disagrees/agrees with the rating, the team is over/underrated? Jackson Co. has beaten some really good teams this year. Are the teams it has defeated over/underrated? I notice that you didn't say Livingston Academy is overrated. Jackson Co. has defeated LA twice this year. Is Livingston rated appropriately? Is the appropriate rating for LA good or bad?

"Overrated" is such a vague term. If you rate Jackson Co. poorly and I rate it well, then you would say I overrated them. However, this can also apply vice-versa. One could say much more confidently and correctly that a team is not as good as its record or something to that effect, but "overrated" .. well, I just don't dig.

    "Overrated" is overrated.

  5. Bees win this one easy. JC is over rated. Only way JC will win is if they have help from the refs as they usuallu do at home. But i still say Upperman has better players and will win it in the end. Again JC is way over rated.

"Overrated?" Who is doing the rating? How can a team that has performed so well this season be overrated? Rated compared to what? Who is properly rated? Boy, I really hate the ambiguity that comes with the term "overrated," and how it is always used to talk down about an athlete/team.

    Is winning overrated?

  6. 8 hours till AP's#1 A show performs in Jackson County, AP respects us, and you will after tonight

The whole "respect" issue on all levels of athletics is kind of getting old. Fans and players of certain teams complain more and more nowadays that they receive none, but then turn around and say it's a good thing because they enjoy playing with a chip on their shoulder. This begs the question as to whether respect is a good thing or a bad thing. Should teams, indeed, want respect? Apparently, they play better without it. Whenever I check the standings and results from games on previous nights, I always fail to see the "respect" column. "Respect" does not win (like Jackson Co. did at RBS) or lose (like RBS did against Jackson Co.) games. What is "respect" from the opposition good for?

If the folks from Jackson Co. decide to unanimously "respect" Red Boiling Springs before the game, will it be canceled? If the Lady Blue Devils started worshipping the Lady Bulldogs before the game, would this suffice? Are opposing players and fans supposed to have ample "respect" for a team they already defeated?

What good is this form of "respect," and why do I have to witness Tom Brady and people on forums complain about receiving none? Just play the game.

JC by 8 points, but RBS will win the much-coveted "respect" battle.

I'll admit Red Boiling Springs is a good basketball team, but I cannot say I "respect" it, because I am not entirely sure what this entails.

  7. Who will win 7 aa this year and is there any teams that will be a bracket buster this year.  After seeing livingston get beat anything is possible.

"Bracket buster?" Somebody have March Madness on the mind?

Anyways, Jackson Co. is much improved ...

Los Blue Devils should be mighty tough in district play this season.

  8. Im not a big follower of softball, but I love watching it and especially umpiring it in the summer!  Im not sure if there is alot of perfect games or no hitters in high school softball, but last night, Kayla Collins, from Jackson County, through a perfect game against Pickett Co.! With only one line drive in the game, which was an out, Kayla soared through Pickett!  With many strike outs and with the help of hitting, JC got out in 3 innings, 15-0!  Congrats to JC, and especiallly Kayla Collins!  Keep it up Lady BLue!

For real, well done Lady Blue Devils! thumb

  9. Go back and check your stats, and I believe that was the best 3 point shooting game of the year for Jackson Co.  Guarentee no other game was even close.  Yes, Coach Brown always has a plan, and yes it usually works.  But even he would probably admit that he would never expect it to work out that well.  Probably the same as Insell would say about their defeat of Jackson Co. late in the year.  F.Y.I. watch the game before you have a comment.  They were not 40 points better than Clarkrange, anymore than Shelbyville was 40 better than Jackson Co.  Who brought up that dumb subject of last year anyway?  OHH!  Just Devilfanatic living in the past again.  I apologize for even getting caught up in this blabbering jibbirish anyway.  Good luck Jackson Co. next year.  We will just let the teams decide who is better.  I look forward to watching them both play in the finals next year.

:( ...so how about those Oliver Springs Lady Bobcats moving to A next year? :D

  10. I'm going to help 13AA fans with their apparent insecurity.

13AA is the best district in the world ... shoot, the UNIVERSE!!!

7AA is horrible and will never be as good as 13AA, EVER. It doesn't matter how many championships were won in a row, or ever ... 13AA is better.

If only SIX gold championship balls were handed out each year -- one for each 13AA team -- because it is the best district, hands and FEET down. thumb

  11. Jim should not have got the technical tonight.  He was up 4 points with about 31/2minutes on the clock.  For a referee to make sure a call for eye contact that is

b_ll.  I have never seen a whole student sections get throw out of a gym before.  I hope the mustangs takes advantage of the two freebie's the referee from east tn gave them this week.  The big doppy referee I hope for east tn association that walker valley did not send those referee's to do a number on 7aa

    this week.

Agreed, the technical on Brown was ridiculous.

And the ref ejecting the Jackson Co. student section -- also ridiculous. Did a chant of "Good Game Refs" really offend him that much?

Boo O'Reilly! (about five people get that joke)

Great season Lady Blue Devils! thumb
