Train - I think you mean Jermaine Copeland. Eric Westmoreland is from Marion Co. Stick to West TN where you belong. Fresca?
  3. try this website http://utsports.ocsn.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/012302aaa.html this should be the offical page for the clinic
  4. Wow - a hall of fame running back. that's impressive. keep writing posts like that and people will take you for a joka [Edited by captain on 3-15-03 12:59P]
  5. I agree with boneal and blue - do lunges and weighed lunges to help improve your squat and your range of motion. Work huddle drills and snatch squats to improve your hip flexibility. Get a good spotter to help train your muscle to work at an increased load. A lot of times, just having a person behind you that you trust can help you mentally. Lots of kids forget to use their hands and shoulders to help drive the weight up.
  6. thats low down, sneakypete, but i like it.
  7. In East TN, I would think the top jobs are Kingsport D-B and Jeff. Co. Both have great tradition and great support. Jeff Co can draw from the entire county and always has good talent.
  8. I agree. If you are interested in a job, take a look. If they want you, take a good, long look. I think you owe it to yourself to listen if somebody wants to talk. Coaches with successful histories are much more likely to get interviews than younger coaches. And they should get more interviews, they have proved what they can do. This is the game we play. 9. transplant is right. the system can put an end to all of those problems. give the guy a few days to decide if you are hiring a new coach. if your coach is trying to squeeze a few extra dollars out of you, don't give it to him. if he leaves, he leaves. caesar - if you are going to imply things, you should go ahead and lay your cards on the table. don't make implication just to stir things up.
  10. I doubt that many coaches apply and interview for jobs that they have no intention of taking. Many times, coaches are interested in a position and apply. After talking with administration and others they learn the ins and outs of the position and program. Only after learning this, can a coach make an informed decision whether or not to take that job. If you have interest in a job, what is wrong with finding out more about it???

  12. If the offense has the threat of four verts, I will play games with the number I keep in the box. I will usually keep 8 in on run downs (cover 3 or 1) and 7 on pass downs(cover 4 or 2). On mix downs I feel go on feel of how the game is going. Against any offense or formations, I am going to stop the run first. The vast majority of teams want to run it rather than throw it. Also, I tend to have a few guys in the secondary that can go up and take it away.
  13. I usually go with some form of a 5-3 look vs. an Ace or really any 2T set. I like to count on my safeties as fast run support guys in cover 4, and getting into any type of 2TE set forces me to go to an eight man front with cover 3 or 1; or I am left with a gap uncovered in the box which is never good. Some teams will stay in a 4-3 look with the DE to the weak side playing a 7 tech. (inside of TE), but I don't like that because we typically have undersized DEs so I like to keep them on the edge. So, most offenses will attack a 4-3 with some form of double TE sets.

  15. I was hoping for a few more specific details. Come ronrob, give a few secerts away.
  16. possum is right about flexibility. i know i face wing-t, spread passing, and power run. i think the 4-3 gives you more flexibility to defend all types of offensives.

  20. Maryville runs a little veer. Rutledge is a big veer team. Sevier county runs some option. Knox Catholic is an option team I think. Alot of folks run speed option these days because of it is easy to install out of multiple sets.
  21. Both defensives are sound schemes. I prefer the 4-3 because of the flexibility that four dbs gives you. It is easier to get into cover 2 or 4 with a 4-3. You can get to these coverages with a 4-4 but it is more difficult. The 4-3 allows you to be multiple and disguise coverages more. Out of my 4-3 I run a 5-2 look, 4-4 look, 5-3 look, 6-3 look, and a bear look. You can get into any look you want from any defensive you want. The key to having a multiple defense is having the players learn only a few techniques, keeping it simple for the kids.
  22. train - I'm not sure, but i think they are only letting coaches work one camp, not two as usual.
  23. Who is heading down to the MegaClinic tonight? Austin-East will be there. [Edited by captain on 2-20-03 9:25A]
