I will happily die on the hill of loyalty. I had no problem with that guy yesterday believing Gentle would win, it was saying Tyson had zero chance and using nasty language and dirty jokes on a forum that kids read and also prohibits that crap that fired me up. I honestly don’t care what people think, the only opinions that matter to me are God’s, my family, and my team. People like @CarlSpackler88 who know me will tell you I love wrestling and want TN to be the best wrestling state in the country. They will also tell you that I treat every wrestler with respect and nothing fires me up more than someone not giving the respect that is due to these kids. He will tell you he has seen me go to war for Cleveland kids, McCallie kids, and every other kid in our state too. We should be passionate about what we think or message boards like these would be boring. If we all agreed there would be nothing to read. That being said, there is a way to go about debating those views and a way not to go about it. I appreciate you looking out for my mental and physical health. Ha.

I agree about the filthy way that cobra was talking on the boards.  It is not needed and like cobra said, it is immature (he really said kids are talking that way when you are not looking).  He may be right, but I doubt you can assign that behavior generally to that age group.

I do think it is not really "disrespecting" any athlete when you take a side on who wins a contest.  It is just sports talk and as long as it is not personal, no big deal to me.

How was I doing that to Yost? I think he is doing a fantastic job.  Mccallie is going to be great for years to come. I say let kids transfer and I’m fine with any school bringing in kids. Mccallie definitely put some money into wrestling which I have zero problem with. Not sure what you arguing and why a week later.

Does the week later really mean anything, I just finally read your post.  Sorry, but I just read it.

You know what you wrote, I do not need to line it out for you.  "What did I say?", LOL.

Thank you. Not that it really matters but the EBE finished second today at regionals. It was as close as it gets. I harbor no ill will towards Mccallie or any other team. The D2 state tourney should will be interesting this year.

it does not matter, you are right.  But throwing off on Yost, bad form.

They have worked hard to get back. I give them credit. Yost failed for many years and it took a significant investment by the AD and “financial aid” office to bring them back or he might have been this year. Great season though and they are loaded for years to come. Gonna have a lot of 19 year old seniors the next 5 years.

LOL.....pretty much the best example of passive aggressive written behavior I have seen on here.

Haha….I’ve been completely honest. Your right no need to go there. But the BS needs and will stop. I’m sure Freco if and when you see me out nothing will be said. I’m sure you’ll be as cordial as they come and snide remarks behind the back. Especially since your new to the area. Just like your boy Trey B. Come to the defense of him. But everything I’ve said is the truth. You can take it or leave it. Really doesn’t matter to me. Especially if you think you can put me in my place. Cordial please. I want nothing more than to take a paint scraper and go and scrape my name off that wall and cut my face out of the team pics. That program has disgraced some Legacy names. And that’s why you’ll never see them in there to support again. I mean we were disgraced at our own celebration. I mean how can you mention the names of Heath Eslinger, Damon Floyd, and Travis Adam’s at a Cleveland celebration. Not only that but have Alan Patterson cradling a Red Bank kid on the jumbo tron at the football game. They dont care about us. Never have…never will. I ain’t scared of ya by any means.

I guess you should be glad they did not mention the Blackmon wrestlers, that could have sent you over the edge!

Be careful @Humorist before you start speaking other people’s stories if you have not been completely honest about yours. Those same people might “explain in further detail” about you. Now I am not saying you have not been completely honest, we have had some conversations that were ALL cordial. I am just saying be careful threatening to open up that can of worms. There is no need to do that anyway. Everyone has their own reasons why they are where they are. None of those include being paid to come to Cleveland using Allan Jones’ money. That is all I am saying.

Heck, even I know some of those stories and I have not lived in Cleveland for probably 40 years.  This is wise advice.

We were never funded like HCWC or Cleveland are. We also hadn’t even been the dominate program that Cleveland is now. Our kids club was mostly volunteer guys and we were mostly poor to middle class at best so there was no traveling across the country and no one to help us get there either. Our middle high programs did ok but we didn’t have the great coaching that prob would have developed more kids at the time until they got into high school. Steve was great but we also had a great assistant with Ashley! But we have won a total state championships I think as Cleveland has won in a row. We did have the round gym and even at that time it was old and constantly in repair, showers barely worked half the time, it was old and dreary downstairs and most of the rooms were junk that just lately were fixed up. I do believe us having the round gym helped us to the position we were in at the time where we were a tough out in a bracket. But again, no one has ever been this dominate in wrestling in TN. So I think it’s 100% because of funding, no, but again, I don’t know if Bosken would be there or Knox be there if not for that funding that started everything out for them and now has been built into a premier program!

my very first match ever in high school was in that gym.  I remember it well.

I believe those coaches are there because they see the vision that was being created.  Their skills make that program better, not the money.  this is only my opinion and observation.

I said money is the sole reason for Cleveland’s success? Go back and find it.

    I’ll be here waiting.

I do not believe you said or wrote it.  You have inferred it over and over and over.  So you win this "waiting game".

I’ve only said it is an advantage.

    and it is.

so, is an advantage something that others do not have and the reason that makes these wrestlers better?  Again, you do not need to answer, I already know the answer.  Your answer is that this is the prime reason for the success or you would not continue to harp on "no one in the program will give me an admission of my premise".  It is not the advantage you think it is.

I don't think any of us have said money was the only reason that HCWC and in turn Cleveland High is the juggernaut that they are because of only funding!

LIke I commented on, it was inferred.  go back and re-read almost anything posted by ummmno, he kept referring to the money being an advantage, or words to that effect.  I commented on why he was getting push back and I would say pretty much the same about your general comments as well.  I think Steve Henry was pretty much top of the heap for many years and besides having that round gym available, he and his team were something to fear for most teams.  I do not know his funding situation, but let us agree it is not like Cleveland's, yet he still made it happen.  How is that possible (this is a rhetorical question)?

If i inferred that in any way then thats my mistake. I'm only saying that it DOES contribute to their success and when another program doesnt have that level of funding it makes it more difficult to have the same level of success.

The issue is the cleveland faithful refuse to say it contributes to their success in ANY way.

it is not really an issue, is it?

  12. 10 hours ago, Ummmno said:

All we are saying is just admit that getting a ton of money contributes to their success….

idk if the parents “disagree” with me. We all know they get more money than any other program in the state.

I would say they do.  I would say it does not make the difference that you think it does.  It may just be one ingredient in the success story of the program there.  Your post seem to infer that it is the biggest thing that has made the success possible.  I suspect that is why you get so much push back on the crusade you are on for some admission from someone in that program, group, school, parents, wrestlers.  Maybe the money involved did help get like minded people together in one place with some really good coaches and really good wrestling partners and that has made the difference you are trying to explain.

I think that those who cared about the program, got together and made a plan and determined what needed to happen.  That program was tired of getting slapped around by the cross town rival and they had had enough.  They needed a kids club and some leadership to move from second best in the county.  They are pretty good now.

Again, nobody has ever taken away the work they put in. We all just want you to admit you get more money in donations than any other program and it absolutely does contribute to your success.

if you gave ANY other program the amount of money you get in donations they’d be at Cleveland’s level in 5 years. Guaranteed.

This is funny, you just want to feel good with an admission of that particular thing, even if those parents do not agree with you.  Geeze.  You are making Trey look reasonable.

I think we are actually in agreement.  I don't care where their journey started.  I have been on the record on here as saying kids should be able to move and transfer to get the best opportunities.  I do care that idiots like TreyB and others who claim their program is 100% in-house.  Every successful program benefits from kids moving around; some programs like to pretend it doesn't happen.

fair enough.  I still do not understand why that would matter to you or anyone.

Artis, not sure who does this voting or if they even pay attention to anything, but to have Soddy at 10 is plain stupid! Also Blackman got beat head to head by Bradley and Soddy beat Bradley by like 40, Soddy would also beat CBHS and prob Brentwood and Nolensville which didn’t even make state because Brentwood beat them but yet are ranked ahead of Brentwood. If this is the best coaches can do it might need some new coaches doing the voting.

Coaches do not have the time to evaluate the teams that they vote on.  Media barely covers this sport, so they are no help either (in regards to voting for a ranked poll).  So take it as a little nice thing that happens, but is mostly not accurate.  :D

  16. who cares where any of these kids began their wrestling journey?  This seems like a bunch of crybabies looking for something negative to throw at one program that is not exactly like their program.  Youth coaches do not own the kids, how can a person going to another program be considered "stealing"?  The Bob Coker post is informational, but has no value at all.

saying they only lost because 3 kids got kicked out is making an excuse. but you do you bud :roflol:

you seem to be in the deep end of the swimming pool, maybe it would be better to get near the rope and hang on there.

Losing 3 kids is an excuse?  Any reasonable person with that information would know that is not an excuse, but a statement of the situation.  :popcorneater:
