How is it hard to answer the very very simple question i asked?

Does the fact a man worth 500 million dollars fully funding your entire youth-high school program put you a leg up on the rest of the state

    yes or no

    Fully Funding......

that comment alone makes it easy for someone to say no to your question.  Highly funded, probably closer to the mark.

It is great to hear that you hate the people in Cleveland.

  2. I always find this kind of complaining about "recruiting" to be puzzling.  Why does anyone care about where some kid chooses to attend high school?  If the kid was going to win state at DB, then will he not still win it a Cleveland HS?  Oh wait, the previous school should own the rights to that kids secondary school record and services.

Also, making a person sit out means what?  I question the reason behind such a rule.  It can only really be looked at as punitive actions against a teen age person.

So what do you suggest? Obviously you know more than everybody else on here. But it seems that every year we go through the same garbage. And it’s always the Cleveland fans that do it. Look I’m a Cleveland alum. Tbh my class is still the most dominant class in the history of that school. 1995. We won titles in three different sports. Our football teams would have crushed anything remotely good that Cleveland has had in the last century. I’ve also have several titles as a coach for Bradley. But it always always seems to be that HCWC and Middle/High parents don’t show any respect. Show some class. I’m not doing anything different than what you are doing by beating your chest. And by taking shots at Bradley? C’mon man. And to be respectful it’s Blackmon not Bryant. I don’t think you know him personally like I do. I can call him Bryant (here’s a tidbit he’s my cousin).
But I’m willing to bet that you won’t have a conversation with him or Logsdon? Just sayin I’m not trying to ruffle any feathers. He knew what he was inheriting. And if truth be known that class that graduated last year were my kids club kids. And it didn’t take long to build as long as you are willing to put in the work. Like my mantra has always been “Homegrown not transplanted”

Give up, that dude is trolling the boards.  just read the screen name, so clever.

In just saying, the name Bradley Pride should be changed because no pride has been in the youth program for YEARS. That’s exactly why Bradley is where they are at now. Wanna be the best you gotta go out and train and wrestle the best. I’d be willing to make a bet that MY 4th grader will graduate and never seen Bradley beat Cleveland. Any takers? LOL

They are in deep deep trouble and last night is how it’s gonna be for the foreseeable future.

Glad you came on here and your first 5 posts ever are to bash the kids club and Bradley wrestling program.  You may be right in what you see, but what axe are you grinding?

Baylor is going to get humbled. Blair throws out a nationally ranked kid at every class. Didn’t realize Valiant Prep was there this year. It is disappointing Cleveland decided to stop participating in this tournament.

I agree on not seeing full teams. I have seen very few with all 14 classes even at national tourneys. Mccallie is bringing all 14 to Drennan evidently.

I do not know, but maybe that Florida trip took the place of going to   Nashville.  Teams do have to make decisions on where to put their resources and days they can wrestle.

Also, just to clarify per the TSSAA handbook, 8th graders can wrestle in high school if,

    "2023-24 TSSAA Handbook Page 15 July 18, 2023

    Eighth Grade Participation Section 8.

An eighth grade student is eligible to participate for a member school if he/she is enrolled at the school. Students below the eighth grade are not eligible to practice or participate for a member school. Any student repeating the eighth grade shall not be eligible for high school participation during the year that the student is repeating the eighth grade. Participation as an eighth grader shall not reduce the number of semesters a student is allowed to participate after enrolling in the ninth grade."

In the case of many of the Class A high schools that participate in wrestling they have eight graders on the team.

Honestly man, the reason everyone is calling you out isn't because we think that what WrestlingGod said is true but because you blew this whole situation out of proportion. You came off as incredibly offended when a simple mistake was made and all that you had to do was call him out and say "Hey Father Ryan actually has never had an 8th grader on their team because they don't not have a middle school." But, you instead got defensive when we all called you out on your childish behavior.

No one here hates you but life sure would be a lot easier for us and certainly for you if you acted appropriately.

    Sincerely an innocent bystander.

Explained to him like he is an 8th grader.  I give this paper an "A+".

Are you serious?  Are you serious?  I just listened to the show and you state that Father Ryan was not at the Cleveland Duals but are usually there and they sometimes throw in an 8th grader to wrestle.  Please advise your listeners and the wrestling commmunity WHEN Father Ryan wrestled an 8th grader in the Cleveland Tournament or at any time.  Father Ryan is a High School.  They do not have middle school or wrestlers.  I can't believe this stament was made.  I would expect that you know your facts before you make a statement like this.  I am embarrased for you and this podcast.

    settle down.

So Baylor is going to the Walsh Jesuit Ironman (the toughest tourney in the country), the KC stampede, wrestling Blair Academy at the RWC duals, and going to National Prep, but is scared to wrestle Cleveland? Makes sense.

    I am with you.

I would like to hear of anybody that has heard the Baylor coaches say, describe or explain any reason for not putting Cleveland on the schedule and it be a dodge type discussion.

Nobody is doubting the work ethic of the kids. Nor are they doubting he work it took to get where they are,

The issue has, and will apparently always be, the Cleveland coaching staff (and fans on this board) refuse to acknowledge the money and above average facilities exist. They refuse to admit they have resources, and access to resources, that almost no other programs do.

They say they got where they are SOLELY because they outwork everybody. THAT is the issue.

Well.....when you say nobody, that is a lot of people you are speaking for.

The issue is that others that are not on the Cleveland sidelines appear to be saying that the money, facilities and what ever else can be applied to their argument IS the reason for the success.   No wonder that the coaches (as you claim) are defending the efforts that these young people put in to this sport.

I do not believe that "they" say it is "solely" because of the "outwork" ethic they may or may not have.  I just think that others are looking for something to be a "victim of", like that rich guy that matches funds raised by the team or the wrestling club, which he also does for the other schools in Bradley county.  I would think that many areas of Tennessee are better off for seeing the model they have built and started kids clubs and are building the models of this success that are possible for their situations.

Just my view on what I read on here.

I have tried to explain this exactly like this on here.

Take a hard working,  motivated kid from a small school that has some athleticism.  Maybe he has ok coaching,  limited workout options/facilities and few if any good partners to work with in the room.  But he works hard and is dedicated.

Take the same kid.  Give him better coaching.  Better facilities and a workout regimen.  Give him several really good hammers to work with every practice for 2 or 3 years.

    Who wins?  (Rhetorical)

Point being,  in aggregate all these things matter.  Money,  facilities,  coaching,  partners,  school commitment etc.

To me personally,  what Halls did last year was much more impressive than anything Cleveland did.  With respect,  Halls developed their kids in house from scratch in a more austere environment.  Cleveland is a great program,  they have everything working for them and they should be on top.  Their coaching, facilities,  funding and support are as good as any in the state.  They have no weak spots. When another team does more with less is what impresses me. Just my $.02

I agree with all of this.  Good post.

I would say that those people who discount the Cleveland success because that have facilities, money support, fan support , etc., overlooks that those wrestlers are still putting in the required work to be the best they can be.  The same work that the Halls wrestlers or any others are putting in to be the best they can be.

This is great comedy with the Maryville fans fighting. Whatever the reason, Maryville football is not the same. It's really refreshing to see new blood like BC making the run they are having. Obviously BC has more talent and better coaching this year than anyone in the region, Bearden and Maryville included.

I agree, this is pretty good comedy.  I am laughing at all this messy, dirty laundry being washed and hung up on the bulletin board.  Keep it going Maryville Fans!

    Says who? You??

ummm, i made the post, so yeah, says me.

What I saw was a bunch of the MHS fans saying that the BCHS fan base could not talk since they "had not been there before" and things to that nature.  Based on the outcome of last nights contest, I made my post.  But not until the contest was complete, since that was the point those fans seem to be making.

Well, then don't come. Or better yet, perhaps find your own way of growing the sport instead offering unneeded criticism to a coach that is trying to create something for wrestling instead of being content with the status quo within our sport.

I am pretty sure I said I would pass as a spectator.  If you were really interested in my comment, you could have asked why instead of being so touchy.
