  1. I'm certain LA will easily repeat as district champs(district opponents record last year 69-76). Lack of depth? No problem. Just play the starters all the time unless injury or foul trouble. I see the older Ramsey is growing rapidly. May be 7' before he graduates. He's a good kid. Hope he doesn't grow much more. The world in general just isn't made for 7' people. Repeating should be no problem for LA

Repeating is never easy. Cannon returns everyone don't they? As far as depth, I think LA is going to be much deeper than you guys think. We'll see soon.

  2. What in your opinion is the most important in basketball if not the starting line up? You don't think the best players are put out there to start?

good question. I do think the most effective players should start. but I don't think its the most important thing in basketball. That could be a number of different things at different times of the game or practice. Endless possibilities there.

  3. Make no mistake. LA has a lot of respect for the boys basketball program at Pickett County. PC has been one of the best programs in the state for many years. So many great players have come from PC. People in Livingston know that and many have been very supportive of PC in the post season over the years.

With that being said, every game has to be played and anything can happen in any game no matter what the size of the school. Apparently Coach Melton realizes this or he wouldn't play a schedule like he plays, incuding christmas tournaments. The same for Coach Bibb. Let this continue to be a healthy rivalry and both schools should support each other outside of the nights they play each other. Good luck to both and hope each is injury free. I know that LA has a lot of work to do getting football players in the swing of things. Just heard Huitt is sick and won't play today against Lexington and Melrose and Jackson sprained an ankle in yesterday's practice so he is questionable. Are you kidding me with this schedule? WOW! Obviously, LA has NO FEAR!

    GO LA!

  4. LA's football players have only had one practice so they weren't really a factor tonight either. Huitt did play some but it'll take a while for them to get into it. I'm sure you're right about Red Banks football players making a difference, but LA is in the same boat.

LA is very young and played on the road and picked up a 12 point win against a scrappy athletic Red Bank basically without football players. It's not flashy but its a good start. They seemed really nervous and made some typical early season mistakes. There were good points and not so good points for everyone. LA never really looked comfortable. Nice be able to play pretty bad on the road and still pull out a win.

Gotta say it though. Brad Jackson's put back dunk was THUNDEROUS! LA's got a bright future.

  5. Go LA! I think this will be a close one. Here's an idea for Dragon fans....... If....IF you get the win, write the score on hundreds of pieces of paper and bring them to the LA/York basketball game......and hold them over your heads until you get way behind! That way you'll have something to be proud of at the basketball game too. :thumb:

  6. Upperman squeezed out a win against Greenbrier. Cant remember the score. 20 point win +/-. It got as close as 9 in the second half, but then the Greenbrier coach went and ticked off our audio guy (hs kid working the music/etc.) and it was all down hill from there. You have to know who not to tick off I guess.

Never seen a HS basketball coach rip into a HS kid working the sound before. I think he owes the kid an apology. If the kid was doing something wrong it would be diffrent. The kid didnt do anything. I wish I had seen or heard it, the apology would have happened immediately.

LA played Greenbrier at TTU camp this summer and the coach from Greenbrier yelled at one of LA's players in a verbally threatening way during the game. Then the coach wouldn't shake the kid's hand after the game as the teams shook hands. If it is the same coach, he should grow up. I guess he'll have plenty of time to think about losing his cool now, right Gator?

  7. Game times for Monday:

    6:00 Upperman vs Cannon county

    7:30 Livingston vs Station Camp

Sorry put wrong thing on there did not mean to confuse anyone. These are now the right times!!!!

Yep. I had posted on these times earlier. Not sure where my other post went. I had a link to the TSSAA website which has mysteriously disappeared.

  8. Game times for Monday:

    6:00 Livingston vs Station Camp

    7:30 Upperman vs Cannon County

These times are the correct times, this was on a bracket handed out at district tourney!!! Upperman wanted to play prime time game.

More changes from Upperman? TSSAA website has Upperman playing at 6 and Livingston playing at 7:30. The schedules handed out at the region meeting matched TSSAA. Why would this be changed? Who's in charge of changing it? Upperman or everyone involved?

Here's the TSSAA schedule. Check it out for yourself.

  9. As i have stated in previous posts livingston will not make it to the state. my prediction is i dont kow if they get out of regions or sub state which ever they will not be playing past the 9th. however since i first made that statement the four other players besides dunn has stepped up play while dunn is sliding. might have to rethink prediction but will hold off until i watch them sat. so as of right now i will stick to my prediction livingston not going to state!!!

Could be completely wrong here. Does anyone else think TROMO may be from Livingston? Gonna watch them Saturday huh? If you were from any of these other schools, wouldn't you be watching your team play on Saturday? Unless your team is already finished and you've decided to make the drive to LA saturday to watch a team that you predict, or hope, doesn't make it to the state. What exactly is your problem with LA? Or maybe you have a problem with Dunn. Sliding? NA. He's just doing a great job making teammates better while averaging 20 ppg and a Mr. Basketball finalist. Your right about one thing though. His teammates have stepped it up lately, which apparently makes you sweat. Sour grapes about something with LA. It doesn't matter. Thanks for motivating an already motivated bunch of kids.

  10. LA IS DEFINETLY THE FAVORITE . I WOULD ALSO SAY LA AND UPPERMAN ARE THE FAVORITES TO MEET IN THE FINALS. UPPERMAN COULD PLAY SC IN THE SEMIS IF THEY BOTH WIN AND WITH THE HOMECOURT ADVANTAGE YOU WOULD THINK UPPERMAN WOULD BE THE FAVORITE ESPECIALLY AFTER UPPERMAN ALREADY BEAT STATION CAMP THIS YEAR AT SC. BUT SC HAS CAME TOGETHER AS A TEAM SINCE THEN SO IT COULD GO EITHER WAY.

WHITE HOUSE IS A TEAM FULL OF ATHLETES AND IF THEY COME TO PLAY THEY CAN BE DANGEROUS. IVE HEARD DEKALB IS PRETTY GOOD THIS YEAR ALSO. SO THAT 1ST ROUND GAME COULD BE EXCITING.

ALSO GREENBRIER IS VERY WELL COACHED AND COULD POSSIBLY GIVE UPPERMAN A GAME.

I'M PULLING FOR WHITE HOUSE AND STATION CAMP TO GO TO THE FINALS. BUT IF IM GONNA PREDICT I WOULD SAY LA AND SC IN THE FINALS WITH LA HAVING TOO MANY GOOD SHOOTERS AND SHOULD WIN THE TOURNEY.

You're a little confused. Upperman didn't beat Station Camp at Station Camp. LA did. Station Camp beat Upperman at Upperman. Not that any of that matters now. Just thought I'd clear that up.

  11. they did but this is tournament time now. john jenkins will take over. if i had to list the top 4 teams in the region it would be station camp, livingston, upperman, white house. if livingston plays white house it will be a great game because livingston runs and guns while white house is big and physical. station camp has jenkins enough said upperman beat livingston who beat station camp. this region tournament could be the best ever. anybody agree?

    Not that it matters, but

Actually, it's Upperman beat Livingston who beat Station Camp who beat Upperman. None of it really means anything now, but LA has beaten both Upperman and Station Camp.

  12. yes i know that is probally true but if it means anything elimnate the 17 point advantage in the first game vs LA cannon would have won.. but all signs lead to another very good matchup between LA and the U.. if that happens i would go with the U!!

Not surprising you'd hope LA loses. Just thinking out loud, but I don't think anyone outside of LA fans, especially in district play, has ever wanted LA to win. I'm sure someone out there has, but it sure seems like everyone hates them. But I'm sure LA likes it that way. /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" />

  13. #1 will play winner of #3 vs 6/7

#2 will play winner of #4 vs #5

I'm sure both boys and girls formats will be the same. #2 LA girls are waiting to play a semi against the winner of #3 Smith County vs. #6/7 Macon/Dekalb winner.

1 waits on winner of 4/5 and 2 waits on winner of 3 v. 6/7 winner.

2 and 3 are in the same bracket.
