  1. baseballdude, What was the score of the KGC and Raiders game? Also do you have any other scores from the tournament?
  2. hopi, What do you think about the following rematches at the State Championships this year: 11U, KGC vs Memphis Waves. These two teams split last year, KGC won State but Waves beat them at nationals, Waves went on to finish 5th at Nationals. 12U, Lady Bulls vs Memphis Lady Elite or West TN Lady Tigers. Waves won state last year theyv'e combined with Lady Elite, Bulls have looked good so far this season. TN Elite has a few former Waves players, West TN lady tigers will probably beat them though. The State Championships should be good this year.
  3. dizzle, The waves beat the top guns twice, in first game the Waves led the whole game with the Top Guns cutting the lead to 5 by the end. The second game the Top Guns led most of the game but the Waves took over in the second half. The Waves were down by 8 points but faught back to win by 9. The Waves appear have more depth, fundamentals and composure on this years team, signs of a really good team in the making. The matchups between the Waves, KGC, Top Guns, Raiders and Lady Belles should be really interesting at the state championships.
  4. hopi, The Waves won the championship game 37-28 against the Top Guns. A couple of parents told me that the coach played his bench quite a bit against the Raiders, thats taking a big chance at a Super Regional I thought. Anyway the Waves appear to be the strongest U11 team in TN so far this season, the state championships should be very interesting this year. My predictions are: 1 - Waves 2 - KGC or Murfreesboro Lady Belles 3 - Top Guns 4 - Raiders Time will only tell though....should be some good competition either way.
  5. Tide, The West TN Lady Tigers were supposed to play the Memphis Elite for the championship, but they forfieted instead of playing.
  6. The Memphis teams swept everything from what I heard, 10U West TN Lady Tigers 11U Memphis Waves 12U Memphis Elite 13U Memphis Elite
  7. fragile21, Seeing is believing, the young lady from Memphis is the 'real deal' I've seen both of the players and theres no comparison between the two. If I'm not mistaken the 11U Memphis team finished 3rd in the state last year. Try to get to the 12U State Championships and check out the West TN Lady Tigers, their coach likes to play a helter-skelter, run n' gun type game but she still manages to shine through.
  8. ptguard12, I remeber you from last AAU Season. Your predicitions are pretty much on target. How do you do it? I think it will be another rematch from last year, with the WAVES and KGC. I was visiting in Memphis earlier this year and saw a truely phenominal 11 year old, but according to everyone there she plays up with a 12U team from Memphis. Any 11U team with this young lady would surely win State and Nationals. She's the REAL DEAL.
  9. Who is going to coach the 14U Team? Can you give some background on the 14U team?
  10. Congrats Coach Freeze, Is Briarcrest going to win the state this year? They've looked pretty strong all season...
  11. Showtime7, I think you and the Shelbyville crew are all mixed up about players playing up to contend for state and national titles. The state of TN would be better represented on a national level across all age groups if the best players played on the best teams at their own age. Look at organizations like the Fairfax Stars, Dayton Lady Hoopstars, Indiana's Finest, Southern, Southern Pacific and Pacific associations usually finish well on average. If a freshman is a true freshman, meaning born in 1989, why would they need to play up? Stacking a team with younger players does not help you win a national title. Can a strong 13/14 yr. old compete with a strong 15/16 yr. old? I think not... Players and Parents don't listen to these people, play your age and enjoy your success while you can...Believe it or not, at Nationals you will face some very tuff opponents at your own age. Would it be better to play up and barely make it out of pool play, finish somewhere between 7th - 24th, or play your eligible age and bring home the GOLD, a National Championship... Set a precedence for the SE/TN Assoc. that you can win at all age levels.
  12. caramelcutiepie, My post is not aimed at any particular player, my comments were based on the level of competition displayed. Playing against a team(s) of the caliber I observed would make anyone standout or be undefeated. Thats all I'm saying, yes Ms. Herring may be great, but against the level of competition of the game I observed that would not be a very difficult task. Again, look Bartletts record and upcoming schedule, its very generous. No player is supposed to try to impress anyone, everything should be based on their abilitiy to consistantly demonstrate their abilities, again any player or team can have an 'off' game, which is what I previously stated. Pantherbert, Yes, I agree, that can happen to any team...tell them to stay focused...
  13. hedgehog, No argument intended, you're defensive, not me. I gain nothing either way so why would I argue??
  14. bmcgo3, I think that KingKong was speaking of the TN teams only. We all know the out of state teams won't be in Murfreesboro. . . Who did Tyner defeat to get to the Championship? I though that it would be Tyner, Beech or Kirby playing for the Championship, guess I was right.
  15. hedgehog, I look at everything, overall skill, speed, court awareness, shooting and defense. Based on the previously stated post on this message board about Bartlett and their freshmen I expected to see more. That's all, nothing more, nothing less . . When comparing this team to other competitive teams I have seen play, i.e.. Shelbyville, Kirby, Tyner Academy, Riverdale, Mt. Juliet, Briarcrest, Harpath Hall, Craigmont and Jackson Co., Bartlett is not on their level, maybe in a few years. Secondly, I understand and see everything very clearly, its you who may not understand your team. Has Bartlett played any team that is ranked in the top 10 or 15 in the State or Nation? Other than Houston, who’s new coach is rebuilding, they have a generous schedule. It really does not matter if a team gets blown out, its about the teams, not individuals, ability to execute against a competitive opponent. For instance, if I were to play against 12yr - 16yr old girls or boys I would look unstoppable, but put me on the floor against players from UT or U of M and I would not stand a chance. A teams athleticism is based their ability to execute at any given level, not what their record is or how great their individuals are. Let me know when Bartlett begins to play higher level or more competitive teams and we’ll come back over to see them and re-evaluate then. FYI, there is another level of play outside Shelby Co.
  16. Sorry, didn't mean to offend anyone...
  17. Didn't get there until the afternoon and evening games. In these games Kirby and Tyner Academy looked good, but the rest of the games looked like second string JV games, not a very high caliber of play for varsity high school girls. Maybe tomorrow will be better.
  18. Anyone know the outcome of the scrimmage?
  19. AusDan, Congratulations on your victory over Briarcrest. You guys know how to play, maybe next year BCS and KC will meet again.
  20. I think that Knoxville Catholic is going to be surprised, BCS has lost five games this season but has anyone looked at who they lost to? Melrose, Memphis East, CBHS..etc… Has Knoxville played any competitive 5A, 4A, 3A, 2A or DII-AAA teams this season? Other than BGA have they faced a team the caliber of a Brentwood or any other strong teams in the state? Knoxville may be favored to win but this is going to be interesting....I don't think they have faced a defense like BCS's this year.
  21. I read the discussion about Briarcrest and ECS, has anyone looked at ECS's schedule from this year? Then take a look at the Briarcrest schedule. Do you notice anything? No disrespect to the Memphis teams, but other than Briarcrest, ECS has only played one competitive team, CBHS. Hmm...looks like the playoffs will really tell whos the better DII-AA team from the west.
