  1. Thanks Brothers, I do appreciate your understanding. I should not get involved with either athletic or political discussions. I am too competitive for reason. I have lost my cool more times over these two topics than anything. I knew HC was going to have to pull off a miracle to win that game, even in the best of situations, if Melrose had any where near their typical talent. I really had not seen much out of Melrose this year, so I guess it was really a lot of wishfull thinking on my part for HC. My son graduated from HC last May, and played his final season last year, so really I no longer have a dog in the fight, I just root for team out of respect. I do admire the quality of play Melrose has. Them boys make playing football look the easiest I have ever seen and they have fun doing it. Best of Luck and I really do hope you guys win the Blue Cross Blue Shield, you deserve it. I stand behind my previous comment though, I really want to see the team play who beats Melrose, if there is a team who can.
  2. For some reason, known only to Coach Mac, they would not use him. Duhh, figure that one out. He did the same thing last year agains Munford and cost HC the post season play. Not that it mattered a whole lot, but HC could have won that game last year and could probably have at least gotten on the board last night.
  3. Brothers, You are correct! Melrose is a great team. They beat us in every way last night. I do apologize for my comments about their character, I should not have written that, it was a cheap shot. I do wish Melrose the very best in the remaining playoff contests. I only have this one thing to say. I want to watch the team play that beats Melrose. If there is a team who can beat them. They are the most talented and disciplined high school football team I have seen play, ever! Good luck Melrose! Hope you take it all the way!
  4. Saint, I agree with you that Melrose is a valiant team with loads and loads of talent. There kind of talent unlike anywhere else probably in the state. However, anything can happen in football. Thanks for your prediction.
  5. You got a point brothers, Melrose probably does not need a good kicking game. LOL
  6. You are correct brothers, Melrose is good, rather fantastic. I have seen them play. Realistically, you play a much different brand of football in Memphis than we do in West Tennessee. My point is however, Melrose should not overlook Hardin County. Especially in light of their past meeting, this would be a very tempting thing. Hardin County has a much different team today than they had two years ago. I agree that everything is in favor of Melrose tonight. Statistically speaking, Hardin County does not have a chance. However, neither did Tennessee agianst Miami. Football can be a strange creature, especially at the Prep level. Hardin County could fold out of fear from their past meeting or they could show up like the Texans against Santa Anna with a battle cry, "Remember the Alamo". At any rate, I do hope it is a good game, that at least Hadin County will play with them and make the game close and interesting. I recall the last meeting between these teams. Some of the Melrose fans were sitting directly in front of me and about mid way through the second quarter started rooting for Hardin County and almost begging them to "make a game out of it." I hope Hardin County does do better tonight, that both teams will play injury free, that all travel safely to and from the stadium and that the truly best team will win. After all, that is what the playoffs are for. Best of luck tonight and most probably, throughout the playoffs.
  7. I know it looks like HC is facing an impossible situation tonight, after all is said and done, Melrose does have the polls and the paper in their favor. However, miracles happen, and it is the middle of November, the approaching season of miracles and you might just witness one tonight. Yogi Berra once said, "It aint over till it's over." We wont really know about this game tonight untill about 10:30 PM CST tonight, and might not know then, for HC is notorious for thowing games into overtime. I pray the game will be good for both teams; that there will be no injuries; that both teams and fans will travel, play and return safely to their homes; that both teams will play to their maximum potential and talent and that the truly best team will win. After all, that is what the play-off system is all about. Win or lose I am a HC Tiger fan and will always be, so therefore, Go Tigers! But, I do wish both teams the very best.
  8. I am thinking that Melrose could possibly look past HC tonight toward future contests. Especially in light of their last meeting several years ago. There is no doubt about Melrose having a state championship team, their talent and depth are supurb and unmatched by possibly any team in the state. However, we have all watched teams with equally matched talent and depth as Melrose become victoms of overconfidence. I was present the last time these two teams met and even though at the time, Melrose was guilty of violations that had to do with college recruiting relations, they were not guilty of any player qualifications that had anything to do with team players. At that meeting, Hardin County had one of their better teams of the past five years and they were no match for Melrose. Melrose entered that game with visions and memories of the Hardin County team of the days of Robbie Locklear and others. They were prepared! They could possibly underrate HC tonight. Hardin County does have an explosive offense and defense with Bouterie, Barker, Milligan, Vanfleet, Gant (both of them), Arendall, Alexander (both of them) and others. Not to mention the fact that they will have one of the greatest motivators, Mr. Joe Barker, in contact with them throughout the week and in the locker room (no doubt) with them tonight. Head coach William McAdams will travel to Memphis tonight with one objective in mind, winning this football game. Hardin County has one other weapon that I have not read in this thread. If the game is close and it becomes necessary, Wes Bouterie can also play safety and has done so throughout this season at various times. He is one of the best safety's I have seen play in the past several years, including Division one collegiate football. Hardin County has hidden depth that is not revealed in one or two game films. Almost everyone of their starters this year has played another several positions in the past. Each of the names mentioned in this thread are threats in more than one position.
  9. ds 40, heart and character is exactly what I am talking about! HC is a 4th quarter team. Beat up and mangled, they find a way win games in the 4th quarter. Don't believe me, ask the folks from Dyersburg. It requires heart and character to win a game in the 4th. At least, in HC we have not been suspended from post season play because of violations. So much for character in Melrose!
  10. Are there any score predictions for the Hardin County/Melrose game when the enter the fourth quarter?
  11. Melrose had better hope to be up by 5 or more td's going into the 4th or the Melrose community will be introduced to new ownership, Hardin County!
  12. Yes, beans, Lexington did beat them. But that does not really say a lot. Hardin Co. and Lexington are arch rivals. You throw out the record books when they meet. Anything can happen between those two teams. Their contest are much more emotional than skill.
  13. Remember, Asmodeus, Hardin County almost lost to nearly everyone this year. The Tiger's greatest concern has to be to hold Melrose to a respectible lead through the 4th quarter. The 4th quarter, and especially the last 5 minutes is Tiger Time. If this game is anywhere close or within three td's going into the 4th, Hardin Co. is almost a guaranteed winner. The Tiger's greatest obstacle will be attitude, this team's seniors were freshmen the last time these teams met. These boys have heard the horror stories about Melrose since that time. I only hope this time if Melrose is guilty of violations, the TSSAA will move on it before tomorrow evening, the Tigers deserve a break.
