  1. Alcoa wins state, I'm afraid BombSquad is right. Proceed with caution becasue these guys will chew you up and spit you out. No one can save you now. But as BombSquad also said, you're welcome to stay. We like fresh meat.
  2. You called? I'm sort of like Batman. I can sense where I am needed. You see, what Alcoa won state a long time ago is trying to say is . . . Never mind. I can't help you here. Basically it boils down to this: Alcoa wins state is an idiot.

  4. Wow, Copernicus! That's some deep thinking. You mean to tell me that backs do better when they run behind good offensive lines?!?!?!?!? Stop the presses!!!!! This guy has uncovered the holy grail, the missing link, the DaVinci code!
  5. I heard a rumor that there's a website out there devoted to nothing but DLHS football. Not sure if it's true, but I think it's www.nothingbutdlfootball.net. I have seen neither team play in the last 8 years, and had never even heard of Tennessee until I moved here from Sierra-Leone, but I think DL will win 19-12. DL w/ 2 TD's (both by David Walton), a field goal (by Chuck Ross) and 4 PATs (one by Mark Gaither and the other three by Bryant Evans). Goodpasture will get their 12 this way: a TD by Shaka Hill, and 6, yes SIX PATs (3 by Andy McWilliams & 3 by Cory West). But on to the stuff that matters: the game! This game will be decided by the fans. Whoever cheers the loudest will win. Defense is irrelevent. Turnovers are irrelevent. The running game, line play, the kicking game, all irrelevent. Go Mustang FANS! Oh yeah, one more thing. I heard that since DL is a Seventh Day Adventist school that they might be forced to forfeit their victory over Alcoa last year b/c it was played on a Saturday. Maybe it's just a rumor.
  6. Mark (if that really is your name), Please refrain from degrading the good name of Kentucky by using it in such a manner. The true Kentucky Coach would stoop very, very low in the name of humor, and use sarcasm to the point of disguist, but would never call out an alum for remaining interested in his old high school program. I salute BS for his loyalty. Now, back to the game. I guess I was mistaken about the whole church affiliation thing. Sorry for any confusion on my part. Now that I know that DL is a Methodist school and GP is a Mennonite school I can beter understand why they serve what they do at the concession stand. BTW, where is Ted L Nancy? I heard he had been way down since the Nov. 3 concession by John Kerry, but to not be on this thread is mind boggling. Hang in there Ted. I hear Hillary will run in '08 and maybe your dream of having a NAMBLA home office in NE Mississippi will finally come true. Go Hillary!
  7. Sounds like you and vandy1 ought to get together and duke it out. I'd pay to see that fight. Anyway, on to the matter at hand. I can't believe DL doesn't sell fish at their games. I mean come on. They are a Catholic school and should know that many practicing Catholics do not eat beef on Friday. I look forward to this game. It gives me chill bumps just thinking about the electricity that will be in the air. I am hearing that even a few coaching deserters, I mean former coaches, are coming back for this one. It'll be good to see Coach Arnold (as in Benedict).
  8. You know way too much about those names to just randomly pick out a few from a program. You are right. Every one of them has a story. Remember, just because a kid changes schools it doesn't mean he was recruited. Do kids tranfer to and from other schools? As has been said before, this is an urban school issue, not a private school issue. Cities bring in families due to opportunities. Families have kids. Kids go to school. Philip Jenkins' dad preaches at a church (a Church of Christ, no less) next door to DL, so where do you think Philip would go? I could answer for each of these kids, but why waste my time?
  9. Congrats to the stable of Stangaroos. As anyone at DL and GP will tell you, a win over the arch-rival is good, no matter what it looks like.
  10. Oh, but the pleasure is ALL mine. Normally I try to avoid forums where sarcasm is used like a . . . Oh forget it. I couldn't think of anything sarcastic.
  11. No, I'm being serious, do you know what irony means? If so, please tell me. (Just a little sarcasm.) Good luck to Hillin and his gang of Stangaroos.
  12. BombSquad, Do you know what irony means?
  13. Good to have you back, Ted. We really missed you while you took your sabbatical from the ACLU to work with the Democratic Party (Go Kerry!). Maybe in a year or two you will receive that grant and be able to fulfill your lifelong dream and work with NAMBLA (visit NAMBLA's website). However, your time spent with your childhood idols (Jesse Jackson, Bob Kerrey, Al Gore, Michael Moore, Al Sharpton, et al) must have caused some memory loss. McWilliams' streak (known as the "The Streak" within the coaching fraternity, but not to be confused with Ray Stevens' song "The Streak") was actually 28, and not 29. He was going for #29 during pre-game when DL's bus arrived. When DL's Wally took the field, McWilliams' holder (who shall remain nameless, but his initials are JP) had his blood pressure sky-rocket and thus brought "The Streak" to a crashing hault. You see, JP, I mean the holder, saw Wally, got so angry that he saw red and pulled a Lucy on good ole Charlie Brown (aka McWilliams). The first thing that hit was the back of his head, and sadly, he wasn't wearing a pumpkin for a helmet. Snoddy charged the field, but to no avial. The Wah-Wah wagon had to be called, and "The Streak" was over. The moral of this story: Don't go cliff diving off bridges.
  14. Oh yeah, a prediction: DL by an antler.
  15. Top 10 Reasons ot come to this game: 10) Turner v. Rogers - 2 of the best going head-to-head 9) McCadams v. Martin - 2 of the hardest heads going head-to-head 8) Uniforms - 2 of the ugliest sets in the country going head-to-head 7) Chuck Ross 6) Chris Snoddy 5) The "Cougar Meat" cheer 4) mustvol's pre-game food 3) Not having to hear Blake Fulton 2) Both school's student section - it's electric 1) 3 words: bagpipes, bagpipes, bagpipes (but get there early enou to hear them; ~5:30?)
