Wow, Copernicus! That's some deep thinking. You mean to tell me that backs do better when they run behind good offensive lines?!?!?!?!? Stop the presses!!!!! This guy has uncovered the holy grail, the missing link, the DaVinci code!

I heard a rumor that there's a website out there devoted to nothing but DLHS football. Not sure if it's true, but I think it's www.nothingbutdlfootball.net.
I have seen neither team play in the last 8 years, and had never even heard of Tennessee until I moved here from Sierra-Leone, but I think DL will win 19-12. DL w/ 2 TD's (both by David Walton), a field goal (by Chuck Ross) and 4 PATs (one by Mark Gaither and the other three by Bryant Evans). Goodpasture will get their 12 this way: a TD by Shaka Hill, and 6, yes SIX PATs (3 by Andy McWilliams & 3 by Cory West).
But on to the stuff that matters: the game! This game will be decided by the fans. Whoever cheers the loudest will win. Defense is irrelevent. Turnovers are irrelevent. The running game, line play, the kicking game, all irrelevent.
Go Mustang FANS!
Oh yeah, one more thing. I heard that since DL is a Seventh Day Adventist school that they might be forced to forfeit their victory over Alcoa last year b/c it was played on a Saturday. Maybe it's just a rumor.

BS, Congratulations to your Bisons, yes you are in college and on a HIGH SCHOOL football website, on winning an exhibition game with a NAIA school tonight. I sure hope that you can get your studies done with such exciting basketball in the arena! I am on the edge of my seat waiting for your response to this post, since college is just a breeze for you.
Love your Kentucky Coach.
Mark (if that really is your name),
Please refrain from degrading the good name of Kentucky by using it in such a manner. The true Kentucky Coach would stoop very, very low in the name of humor, and use sarcasm to the point of disguist, but would never call out an alum for remaining interested in his old high school program. I salute BS for his loyalty.
Now, back to the game. I guess I was mistaken about the whole church affiliation thing. Sorry for any confusion on my part. Now that I know that DL is a Methodist school and GP is a Mennonite school I can beter understand why they serve what they do at the concession stand.
BTW, where is Ted L Nancy? I heard he had been way down since the Nov. 3 concession by John Kerry, but to not be on this thread is mind boggling. Hang in there Ted. I hear Hillary will run in '08 and maybe your dream of having a NAMBLA home office in NE Mississippi will finally come true. Go Hillary!

I don't know who this vandy1 is, but he is taking my job and I do not apprecitate it!
Anyway, this week is why players play, coaches coach, and why fans come to the game. We have a small worry though. I pose this question
WHERE IS THE MUSTANG NATION?
We had a poor showing this week and last week. We need to do better if we want to advance.
Sounds like you and vandy1 ought to get together and duke it out. I'd pay to see that fight.
Anyway, on to the matter at hand. I can't believe DL doesn't sell fish at their games. I mean come on. They are a Catholic school and should know that many practicing Catholics do not eat beef on Friday.
I look forward to this game. It gives me chill bumps just thinking about the electricity that will be in the air. I am hearing that even a few coaching deserters, I mean former coaches, are coming back for this one. It'll be good to see Coach Arnold (as in Benedict).
-
You know way too much about those names to just randomly pick out a few from a program. You are right. Every one of them has a story. Remember, just because a kid changes schools it doesn't mean he was recruited. Do kids tranfer to and from other schools? As has been said before, this is an urban school issue, not a private school issue. Cities bring in families due to opportunities. Families have kids. Kids go to school. Philip Jenkins' dad preaches at a church (a Church of Christ, no less) next door to DL, so where do you think Philip would go? I could answer for each of these kids, but why waste my time?
-
Congrats to the stable of Stangaroos. As anyone at DL and GP will tell you, a win over the arch-rival is good, no matter what it looks like.
-
-
No, I'm being serious, do you know what irony means? If so, please tell me. (Just a little sarcasm.)
Good luck to Hillin and his gang of Stangaroos.

A power outage near Briley Parkway forced the PS2 Goodpasture/Lipscomb game to be suspended with 8:37 remaining in the 2nd quarter and the score tied at 5-5. Lipscomb tied the game when Lipscomb's Chuck Ross had a 97 yard punt that bounced off of the head of Goodpasture's Chris Snoddy on the 3 yard line and went out of the back of the endzone. Corey Redding, who can't decide which school he is actually associated with, said it was the most amazing kick he had seen since he saw Andy McWilliams kick 29 consecutive 50 yard field goals during pre-game before the Cougars hosted BGA in 1999.
After a 1 hour wait, school officials actually watched the channel 2 future cast. When they determined that the rain would end in middle Tennessee overnight, they decided to play the game at the regularly scheduled time of 7:00 on Friday night.
Good to have you back, Ted. We really missed you while you took your sabbatical from the ACLU to work with the Democratic Party (Go Kerry!). Maybe in a year or two you will receive that grant and be able to fulfill your lifelong dream and work with NAMBLA (visit NAMBLA's website). However, your time spent with your childhood idols (Jesse Jackson, Bob Kerrey, Al Gore, Michael Moore, Al Sharpton, et al) must have caused some memory loss.
McWilliams' streak (known as the "The Streak" within the coaching fraternity, but not to be confused with Ray Stevens' song "The Streak") was actually 28, and not 29. He was going for #29 during pre-game when DL's bus arrived. When DL's Wally took the field, McWilliams' holder (who shall remain nameless, but his initials are JP) had his blood pressure sky-rocket and thus brought "The Streak" to a crashing hault. You see, JP, I mean the holder, saw Wally, got so angry that he saw red and pulled a Lucy on good ole Charlie Brown (aka McWilliams). The first thing that hit was the back of his head, and sadly, he wasn't wearing a pumpkin for a helmet. Snoddy charged the field, but to no avial. The Wah-Wah wagon had to be called, and "The Streak" was over.
The moral of this story: Don't go cliff diving off bridges.
-
Oh yeah, a prediction: DL by an antler.
-
Top 10 Reasons ot come to this game:
10) Turner v. Rogers - 2 of the best going head-to-head
9) McCadams v. Martin - 2 of the hardest heads going head-to-head
8) Uniforms - 2 of the ugliest sets in the country going head-to-head
7) Chuck Ross
6) Chris Snoddy
5) The "Cougar Meat" cheer
4) mustvol's pre-game food
3) Not having to hear Blake Fulton
2) Both school's student section - it's electric
1) 3 words: bagpipes, bagpipes, bagpipes (but get there early enou to hear them; ~5:30?)
-
Then say what you mean, son. We don't have time for metaphors and analogies on this board. That's like a bass calling a catfish a fish.
-
p.s this Eddie Van Halan guy sounds bitter about something. Did he want the head job at Goodpasture and not get it or something. I guess both schools are glad he is not associated with them.
Why would I, Eddie Van Halen, the most prolific guitarist of all-time, want to coach at either one of those schools? (Please note that when ending a sentence that asks a question it is appropriate to use a ?. Do you understand.)
-
He's not poking fun at your religion, but rather your denomination. Oops, sorry, I didn't mean to say that. After all, the Churches of Christ are non-denominational. That's kind of like a bunch of people getting together and wearing T-shirts that say "We're not in a club".
-
-
First of all, I took the pleasure of correcting some of your spelling and grammar errors.
Also, I cannot understand why you are calling yourself a sincere high school football fan. You don't even have a real coacht name. You pose as an East Tennessean(the worst kind of Tennessean) and a 16 year old high school girl. You got it man, what a comedic genius. You may be the only person at DL that isn't hilarious. But hey, whatever helps you sleep at night, man.
Wow. I cannot believe what I've been missing. I thought I could be low, but you guys have stooped to new lows for even me, the Wizard of the Ax.
This game will be a good one, but DL will pull out the win at home b/c I guarantee you that their first-class trainer will have those Mustangs hydrated and cramp-free! Good luck to both teams. Both class programs.
-
i think tyners coaching could be better they dont even use headsets
Why would they use headsets? They are going to do what they do, period. They are not going to adjust, they are just going to beat you (or not). However, I have seen them make plenty of half-time adjustments through the years. They gave up a bunch of points and yards to Goodpasture last year in the first half and completely shut them down in the second half.
I know of a lot of crappy programs that use headsets. They don't exaclty seem to be the recipe for success. Furthermore, most teams, good or bad, do not actually USE headsets, they simply WEAR headsets. There might be a little conversing, but often times not much is being relayed.
-
My understanding is that Brian Rector has been the man running the show for some time now and Jack has been more of a figurehead. Regardless, Jack is one heck of a coach.
-
As for you get some backbone...
Can I get me some of that there prescribed backbone at a 7-Eleven?
-
A person born in America is an American..enough said. If you weren't born in the USA you're not an American how more simple could it be? It doesn't take the head cashier from Wal-Mart to figure that one out. Thats all that I have to say. I'm an American and proud of it. I don't care if you manage the 7eleven or get wicker baskets full of snakes for Christmas You're not an American unless you're born in America. You can become a legal American Citizen in 7 years but you're still not a American....
But Apu is right, Wildcat02. You said "I was born in AMERICA though, so that makes you an American." There is some confusion here. Perhaps your arrogance is getting in the way of your own thinking. I am pleased to hear that you coach told you the "Seat Belt" school of thought. Seems like you're getting quite an education. You should major in ethnocentrism in college.
As for Wildcat02., I don't think he's making fun of your name, nor do I think he desires to be like you, I think he is making fun OF YOU. Understandable, because you're a pretty easy target. Most arrogant Americans are.
-
What coach wants a player on their team that can't move? Really it does not matter if you can squat a house if you can't move 6 inches to block someone.
Amen, wardawg. That's exaclty what I'm trying to say. Strength coaches: who needs 'em? Great point.
I agree w/ the posts on here that said games are won and lost in the off-season. Most of you guys are LOSING your games in the off-seaosn b/c you're lifting weights instead of doing something more worthwhile. I love seeing teams walk in w/ their undershirts on that say "300 lb. bench" or "200 lb. curl". I know right then that we're going to whip their butts. They spent all spring playing w/ dumbbells while we were out doing something beneficial.

Alcoa wins state,
I'm afraid BombSquad is right. Proceed with caution becasue these guys will chew you up and spit you out. No one can save you now. But as BombSquad also said, you're welcome to stay. We like fresh meat.
