  1. There is good and bad in Perry County like there is everywhere. The kids that are on the team are good kids. Every kid on the team. There has been alot on here of the bad in Perry County but the kids here are just kids. No place is perfect and PC is not perfect. Yes they believe in basketball because there is not many other sports here and they have to have something here. There is nothing else in PC. The season is about over and everyone will forget all about all of this by next year. But for now good luck to the Vikings and Lady Vikings.
  2. Well in this school there is no other sports that this money is used for to help. The only security is maybe 2 officers that only make around $20 each a night. Everybody's parents family go to the games and the cheerleaders family's and the managers plus fans from years past. The gym is always crowded with the towns people so they are making plenty of money. The one thing that could be cut is an extra coach sitting on the bench that for some reason we have 3 coaches but only 2 do anything. Yes schools have had budget trouble but for familys to pay and everyone else get raises is not right. Budget trouble was a problem at the school but instead of taking away from athletes they took away from the lowest paid people in the schools. No the answer is not take away from familys. They can make it for everyone to go to. Noone said it was not a good thing for the family. I agree but for a family of 4 or more going 3 nights a week it gets very costly. But how many 5 year olds care who scores? And how many watch the games? When you have a child on a team you want to go and support them. You pay your dues for your childs fees at the beginning of the season. My son has to have $200.00 every year just for his things for the sport. That is fine. But when you have a family why make the little kids pay the same as adults. Yes they take a seat space but don't worry in concession you still make money on them. The problem does not worry coaches or school personnel but for a family who wants to support their child it is a very big problem to some who are not as well off as some others. 2 or 3 days a week for a family of 4 or more is very costly and yes it is great entertainment for familys but there should be a answer to this where everyone could enjoy the games.
  3. The high school games I go to does not have a PTA or PTC. It is a small school and they do not have any parent helping org. and they hire help for games.
  4. Who sets the price for the games in regular season? At each school the prices were different. Why do they not have a family price set for familys with children? To pay $4 or $5 for each child under 6 is too much. It seems there would be alot more people come to the games and bring there family if they would charge a family rate. For a family of 4 the cost is from $16-$20 depending on the price. Then your concession stand food and the games being 2 or 3 nights a week. If you have a child who plays and you follow the team for support it is very cosltly. Noone ask for anything free but it would be nice if they would give a family rate or a discount for children who are small. For a family that does not make alot it really makes it hard for them to enjoy the game.
  5. Going to basketball games I have noticed the managers working hard for the coaches and players. They stay busy from the time they get to the school until they go home yet never get reconized. I think these young people need to be told they do a good job. Some of the players would jurk towels and water from the managers never saying thanks. Some would say thanks but very few. It is getting sad to see so much put into only the players who are on the court and the others who help are left out except for a water bottle or a towel. I have noticed the way the players treat these managers and they need to be taught to appreciate these helping them. These are to be admired for wanting to help out and doing for others. We seem to forget to say Thanks anymore. Kids are not taught to THANK people who do for them. Basketball players and all sports need to teach more than the game to the players. A simple Thanks would be nice if a manager gives you a towel or a drink. The managers have a place on the team too even if they do not touch a ball except to put one up. They are part of the team too. To all the managers this is for you. Thanks for a job well done for all the players and coaches.
  6. Who will play who in the district tourn this week? What times are the games?
  7. In the game things happen and excitement takes the game away. We all need to remember how to act. The coaches set examples for the players and should control their actions and their players. If a child gets a T they should set out for a while to see this is not the way the game should go. And if a coach gets a T they should learn from it and be punished for this. It seems so many get so wrapped up in the game that nothing matters but winning. We need to see we are teaching these kids by our actions we take. There are some coaches that do right in teaching the kids that you cannot mouth the refs or challenge their calls while others will talk back, say ugly words back to refs or act in a way they should not. Some teams are taught sportsmanship while others are taught to do whatever it takes to win. Winning is what everyone wants but we also need to teach sportsmanship. When your player knocks down the other team player should they walk over him or should he give him a hand and help him up. I see so many knock downs and being tough guys even when they don't have to. You can win and have good sportsmanship or lose and have good sportsmanship.
  8. When is Perry Co surpose to know about this Tssaa problem? Or is this a rumor too.
  9. Is the game still on Monday between Santa Fe and Perry Co?
  10. You have our prayers and best wishes from Nashville. May the family stay strong and know that others are praying and thinking of you now.
  11. Where is the 12A tourn going to be at? And when do they start? Anyone know anything about it?
  12. Some will get their chance and some won't. Why dog these players? What goes around comes around. When you do a kid wrong you will get it back.
  13. Some coaches will play players who work hard and some coaches won't. It is up to the coaches no matter what a player does in practice. Some players make alot of mistakes in a game and never get taken out. There are alot of kids who sit the bench who can play as well as others on the floor but never get a chance to show it. There are some coaches who can see dedication and others do not. It is depending on where you play. To say to a kid you sit the bench because you are not as good as others is not always true. Every case is different and each kid on the team is the team. Others should respect them as they respect and support the team. I support the team not only the ones playing but the ones sitting the bench. I do not have anyone on any team but for someone to say hey they sit the bench is wrong. They practice and work on the team too. It takes them all to be a team. It is the whole team that wins and the whole team that loses a game. In practice you never see just the starters practice and run. Its a team so who ever started this does not know what a team is. It is all the players and starting this thread does not make sense.
  14. Perry Co did not play Luis in the game.......
  15. Great game Mt. Pleasant. To many mistakes by the Vikings. Good Luck to Mt Pleasant for the rest of the season.
