I hear Brian Rector from Ravenwood is rumored to be one of BA's targets.
-
You tell us.....who have yall picked up?
I don't know. That's why I asked.
-
Any news on players from outside region 4 transfering into the region?
-
next yr will be interesting
yes, very
-
yep can tell your a joke
He really is joke. Not kidding. He was our waterboy last year.
-
david sanders typical strong small back that can make you miss but can also run over you will be #1 in the spring
donovan runs like a 225 pound tb he is fearless and also has good speed
he hurts himself all the time hitting people
jarvis is faster than they give him credit for he would be a waste at fb since smyrna never runs the ball to the fb a good blocker at fb is all that is required for smyrna. jarvis will be a tb at smyrna
I do think you will see smyrna continue to do what they have for the past few years and that is be balanced with the run pass ratio they may pass a little more next yr just because they have those weapons and with other wr stepping up doubling rod may not be an option.
I heard john hendersons brother went to private school now, maybe brentwood academy??
Oh no I didn't mean they would let him get rushes at FB. I meant he should be a great blocker at FB with the size he's got. I see Jarvis as an excellent goaline rusher no doubt about it. Our poor man's Jerome Bettis.

What happened to big John Henderson's brother who was supposed to go to Smyrna?
I have no idea. He might be an eigth grader this year at sms.

Jmu, Bryson is a baaaaaaaad boy! He is was most exciting middle school football player to watch. At the middle school level, he is basically Reggie Bush. We would watch him after practice when there were middle school games and I would sit up there and call his touchdowns. The way he runs, I compare him to Antoine. Has a lot of moves. Spin move is ridiculous! He is pretty big, too. I believe he has been starting since 6th grade. I don't know how much he would contribute, but I think Smyrna has a nationally ranked player in the next few years. Thats just my opinion, though.
Donovan is ALWAYS hurt. When he is healthy, watch out.
Well I can't wait to see him in action. Sounds like he could do some things at the varsity level. How big would you say he is?
-
What I was thinking was this:
Jarvis will probably be playing more fullback than anything else with as wide a frame as he has. WOW is he big.
Donovan is a really good special teams and defensive player. I think playing him 3 ways would not work out too well. We need more help on defense and ST coverage than on offense.
Sanders will be a senior next year. He plays straight up TB, nothing else. So he is slated at #1 right now.
I think we would be more successful with Sanders and someone else sharing the load at TB. Jarvis in at fullback. And Donovan playing ST and defense and maybe a few carries in the offense if he's is as tough as Cat said.
I don't here anything about upcoming middle school players so hearing about this Bryson kid makes me excited. I wonder how much he could contribute at varsity level though.
-
David is scrappy though. He's tough.
Very true, but we do need some more help at that position. We can't rely on Sanders to carry the load an entire season by himself.
-
They have the reputation of Peyton and Marvin though. They need a Reggie Wayne for next year.
We could use a tailback, too. We lose Maceo Harris and Antoine Hendricks next year (I think I just heard a sigh of relief from the rest of region 4) and have 5'5 130 lb. David Sanders slated as our #1 option right now. Yikes!! I don't know how he could last an entire season.
-
Sonny and Rod is like Peyton and Marvin....they've been together since 8th grade
They've dominated since 8th grade.

i wont see him next year. can we not have fun? i guess Troy Smith isnt that good since he won the Heisman. just because ur friends didnt make it doesnt mean the people that did arent better. just because they go to Ooltewah doesnt mean they are amazing. i watched the championship game and to be honest i dont see how Smyrna beat u. from the 3+qtrs i saw. they didnt look all that amazing. im just tryin to have some fun and u take everything soo serious and to heart even when it has nothing to do with u. but u and the other owl faithful were consistent on saying Marshall was soo much better than Sterling because of 1 maybe 2 games. but if he was so good ud think some one would notice him. but apparently not. oh well. football is over and now its basketball season. btw. have fun choking in baseball again.
oh and im white. so im not related in anyway to Andre.
Yeah, what game were you watching? I don't wanna waste my time replying to an idiot so I will stop riiiiiiiiiiiight now.
-
Not focused in the quarterfinals of the playoffs against one of your biggest rivals? Maybe both teams were focused and 1 wanted it more than the other. Although i believe both teams wanted it pretty bad.
yea, Smyrna was a better team. case closed.

who does everyone think are possible candidates for mr. football in region 4 next year? i personally think ladarius verge of riverdale has a GREAT shot of winning the award for lineman, and i think jeremy mcclain also of riverdale has an outside shot at getting nomination for back, but definately all state material.
i could see sonny gray getting a nomination/possible victory for the back award. rod wilkes obviously has a chance, but considering sonny will be on the other side of his receptions and the rest of the teams, might not be so likely. josh day probably has an outside chance for nomination at lineman award, he was really solid in the championship game.
who knows, i feel like i have mentioned atleast one candidate listed, if not, region 4 would be cheated i believe.
yea you hit it right on the money as far as players from Smyrna who could win.
-
I was wondering the same thing about their younger players. What was the freshman record for the players who are now sophs?
0-10 which is very unusual for us. That's why Smyrna only had one sophomore who actually played. Hopefully next year's sophomores will contribute more next year than this year's did.
-
Why in the world is there not 1 Ooltewah player on the all-state team. That doesn't make much sense at all... 13-1 and lost to the state champions by 3 points on the last play of the game. No all-state players.... I'm confused
It really is a joke. But if anyone has atleast a peanut for a brain, they should realize this.

just goes to show u the better team doesnt always win
But the better team always finds a way to win...

chris gray
talk 2 sam youree or vari malone & c how transfers get treated @ smyrna b-4 u cut ur deal.
Youree left Smyrna under his own power. He was welcomed by the entire team. Malone was kicked off for breaking team rules. Please justify how that is bad treatment.

Sounds like Coach Carson is in the mix for several head jobs in the area.
I don't think anyone wants to leave Smyrna until the class of '08 is gone.

#2 Reciever

Punter
2 Starting O-Lineman
2 Starting D-Lineman
Middle Linebacker
#1 Conerback
That's What Smyrna Has To Replace And Has Coming Back. I Don't Know Anything About Ravenwood So Anyone Who Knows Please Let Me Know. I Expect Both Teams To Finish High In Their Regions Next Year And Make Another Run At State
I'm curious about this year's sophomores and freshmen at Smyrna. We only had one sophomore contribute this year and that was O-lineman Tyler Eady. I know our freshmen team was like 8-2 or somethin. Will any of them step up next year because I have not heard anything about them. Who will step up?

I highly doubt that he will leave Smyrna.. And we could use another top name reciever to add to the list for Sonny.. anyone got any ideas of one..
Let's not get carried away here. Yes we did win a championship. That is great exposure for any program and there is always the possibilty of a couple good transfers, but that is out of our hands. So let's not create the suspicion that we are trying to recruit players because that will only hurt our program.
I've heard a name or two around the mill but I will keep that to myself for now because nothing is set in concrete as of yet.
Who will be the team to beat in 5a
in Class 5A & Class 6A

yes he is coming back. He will be a senior next year. Very good player. I hope we get to play Ooltewah again next year because he's pretty entertaining.
