  1. I have way too many things I'm P'Oed about to even list, so I'll shorten my post to not offend too dramatically.

    1. Is blow to the helmet a foul in High School yet? Did Jeremy Woods not get sacked by his helmet on the second to last play?

    2. Smyrna. Make your away bleachers less stupid. Thank You.

    3. To TSSAA, please make a foul for excessive use of home field advantage on the PA system. I'm proud to say that Ooltewah is home of the most boring announcer on earth, and I'm glad we're not lame enough to play the chicken dance when an opponent scores. It's fine when the band gets into it, but when you have the PA announcer yelling SAAAAAAAAAAACKED every time it happens, it just seems like it crosses the line of fairness. Second year in a row this has happened to us.

Besides those points, I think our team did not take advantage of our opportunities, and our coaching was less than spectacular in many areas. But I'm just a stupid fan, so I'll shut up and wait for next year.

And I won't be rooting for Smyrna in the championship BTW. Too much stuff happened stadium-wise for me to have much respect for them. I hope Ravenwood kills them.

I'm just too angry right now.

That's ok. We don't need your support. We got enough from Rutherford County and region 4 baby!!!

  2. I thought the officiating was equally bad throughout the game on both sides. The PI they called against the Owls #28, I believe, on Rod in the end zone was a ticky tack call, but it was like 1st and Goal, so its really hard to judge the impact of that one. I don't think the kid deliberately tried to take a cheap shot on Sonny on that late it, but it was just one of those plays that looked SOOOOO bad, they almost had to call it. Ooltewah I felt got a break on the PI they called on Jonah when they tried the Steve Spurrier WR pass. Jonah went for the pick and got it. There was a little contact, but that was a jump ball. Also, on the Maceo fumble, it lloked like he was down and I was sitting right in front of it. That directly led to 7 points.

I really thought Monroe's poor clock management that led to multiple delay of games and chaos in the hurry-up offense is what really killed Ooltewah. They were lucky that Antoine gave them life with that late fumble. All in all, a great game that went almost like I thought it would.

Actually it was Rod Wilks that made that interception on the PI call against Smyrna. Wilks never even touched the reciever. Jonah made contact with the WR but that was after Wilks made the catch.

  3. I want to take up for that kid on the late hit call..it was NOT a cheap shot...the ball was on the ground next to sonny so he may have thought and it could have been a fumble but i wanted to take up for that kid on that play

I really can't agree or disagree with because I did not have a good view of that play. Obviously I am glad it was called because that helped us out a great deal.

Ooltewah and Smyrna both got help from the refs on iffy calls throughout the game. I think that balanced this game out as far as fairness and you can't really put the blame on the refs because calls went both ways.

  4. congradulations to smyrna, listening to the game on the radio before half i decided to stop being stubborn and root for the fellow region 4 opponent. good luck at gold smyrna, first and last time i will ever say that lol :thumb:

JMU's signature says "06 IS SMYRNAS YEAR." well, i hope he's right (for once). smyrna has a GOLDEN oppurtunity, lets hope they get it this year because i dont see them getting by riverdale again anytime soon :)

 Haha thanks man. It takes alot of guts to admit you rooted for us and I applaud you for that. We'll represent region 4 to the best of our ability and make yall proud. :D

Maybe you should think about tweaking your signature a little bit. ;)

  5. Good analysis WIP. I thought that this was a game of big plays and gut checks. Ooltewah is a talented team and has nothing to be ashamed of, but I think the key to this game was that Smyrna has been tested throughout the season, whereas the Owls were drinking Gatorade while they were beating some poor team by 35. I think some East Tennessee folks on here took offense to my earlier post questioning the quality of play in East Tennessee. I wasn't questioning Ooltewah's ability to play, I was questioning the people they played and I thought it bit them in the rear tonight. Monroe got his team at least 4 delay of games with his archaic method of getting the plays in. Their hurry up offense was more like a crawl, because they obviously haven't had to run it more than twice this year, and never with a game on the line. To be honest, if these teams played 10 times, they would probably split at 5 games apiece, but Smyrna made some great plays when they had to. Josh Day was everywhere on D and Rod Wilks just absolutely was a matchup nightmare for Ooltewah.

Neither team ran the ball well, but Marshall was deadly in the screen game for the Owls. Whoever the guy was that stripped the Ooltewah player inside the five and caused the touchback is the player of the game though. I couldn't tell if it was Josh, Jonah, Orlando, or Rod, but that was a great, great play to not give up and get there.

I'm pretty sure it was Josh Crouch. I might be wrong though. Jonah Hendricks broke up that last pass to end the game and the play before that, LB Josh Day sacked woods with about 15 seconds left and no timeouts for the Owls. I don't think you can give any single individual the player of the game. It was a team effort.

  6. ALL THE WAY TO STATE BABY!!!!!!!!!!

That was a great FOOTBALL game. I don't think you can say both defenses played horrible, they each made big plays.

Smyrna's Josh Crouch knocked the football out of the guy's hands to prevent the would-be touchdown.

Ooltewah forced a fumble in the last minute to get the ball back.

The most exciting football game I've ever seen. Ooltewah is a great team and congrats on a wondeful season, but the better team won tonight.

Mistakes were made by both teams, so the game came down to who could capitalize on them and who would regroup and not fall apart.

    Smyrna bent, but didn't break.

  7. First half stats:

    Ooltewah:

    Rushing -- 68

    Passing -- 57

    Total Offense -- 125

    Smyrna:

    Rushing -- 111

    Passing -- 69

    Total Offense -- 180

Smyrna controlled time of possession and a couple of big plays and special teams play a big role in the first half.

    Second Half--Third Quarter

Ooltewah kicks it off to the five and Smyrna runs it back to the 28 yard line--first and ten. On the first play Harris runs the ball for 7 yards to the 35. Then lightening strikes as Gray hooks up with Wilks for a 65 yard touchdown pass. Smyrna tries to go for two, but the pass is incomplete. The score is now Smyrna 19 -- Ooltewah 14. Smyrna has now compile 260 yards to Ooltewah's 125. Not looking very good for the Owl faithful.

Ooltewah gets the ball on their own twenty to start the next drive. Woods drops back and hits Norwood for a 17 yard gainer to the 37 yard line. Buchanan is stopped for a two yard gain, and then Marshall breaks one all the way to the Bulldog 22. A screen pass to Marshall gets the ball to the Smyrna 9--first and goal. On the next play, the Smyrna defense steps up as Shadrake sacks Woods at the 16--loss of 7. Draw play to Marshall nets 10 yards--3rd down at the six. The next pass is incomplete and Ooltewah elects to kick the field goal.

    Score: Smyrna 19 -- Ooltewah 17

Smyrna again starts at its own 20. Harris gets 7; Hendrix gets 12; Gray scrambles for another 13. The ball is now on the Ooltewah 48 and the third quarter ends.

    Fourth Quarter:

On the first play from scrimmage, the Owls Swafford intercepts a Gray pass intended for Crouch at the 40 yard line and he is immediately tackled.

The Bulldogs bend but don't break defense, gives up two 10 yard runs by Marshall and a twelve yard pass pay from Woods to Jensen. Then Marshall gets 18 more yards but fumbles at the ten and Smyrna gets the ball back.

Smyrna, starting on its own ten, is unable to move the ball and has to punt from its own 14. Ooltewah lets it roll to its own 39 where they take the ball over.

Marshall is handed the ball twice, once for 7 yards and the second for 9. First and ten on the Smyrna 45 yard line. Woods connects with Jensen for 15 more yards. First and ten on the 30 yard line. Another screen pass to Marshall nets nine yards to the 21 yard line. Buchanan gets two yards for a first and ten at the 19. Woods drops back and passes to Shumaker; the ball goes through his hands and Wilks intercepts the ball. He runs the ball all the way back to the Ooltewah 16, where he is caught by Woods. Smyrna's ball first and ten.

Smyrna is able to move the ball to the 11, but after an incompletion decides to kick their third field goal of the night. It is good--a 28 yarder. Smyrna 22 -- Ooltewah 17. Two minutes and 47 seconds left in the game.

With their backs against the wall, the Owls are forced to start at their own 20 yard line again after the ball rolls into the end zone.

On the first play from scrimmage, another screen pass too Marshall nets 22 yards to the 42 yard line--out of bounds. A draw to Marshall gets 15 more yards down to the Smyrna 43. Woods drops back to pass; it's incomplete. Now just 1:50 left on the clock. Woods drops back and has to run from a furious pass rush and connects with Norwood at the 25 yard line--first down Ooltewah out of bounds. 1:38 left on the clock. The next play is a handoff to Marshall, who only gets two yards. The clock is running--Woods drops back to pass and hits Jensen for 15 yards down to the Smyrna 8. 49 seconds on the clock. Woods pass to Horsch is incomplete. 41 seconds remaining. Woods catches Shumaker open on a slant--touchdown. Ooltewah decides to go for two. Senior Shawn Sanders runs the ball for two.

Score: Ooltewah 25 -- Smyrna 22 (35 seconds on the clock)

Ooltewah's kickoff does not make it into the end zone and it is run all the way back to the Ooltewah 42 yard line, after several missed tackles and a great block by Shadrake. (21 seconds on the clock)

Gray hooks up with Wilks down the sideline for 29 yards to the Ooltewah 19 (8 seconds left on the clock. Smyrna elects to attempt a game tying field goal from 36 yards out. It's up; it's long enough; it's wide left. Owls win.

    Final: Ooltewah 25 -- Smyrna 22.

    Final stats:

    Ooltewah:

    Rushing: 195 (Marshall -- 183 yards)

    Passing: 183

    Total Yards: 378

    Smyrna:

    Rushing: 134 (Harris 100)

    Passing: 163

    Total Yards: 297

Wow I can see you put a lot of thought into this. Nice job, and great details. One thing I would like to change though..... Smyrna wins! :thumb:

Good luck to both teams tonight.

    I BELIEVE

    Oakland:

    QB Tyler Burnett

    Wilson Central:

    RB J.T. Majors

    121 carries 611 yds. 5.0 yds/car 4 TD

  9. From hearing what everyone is saying about Ooltewah, Smyrna, Ravenwood, and White Station, I have noticed a bit of a trend.

It seems to me that all four of these teams were not expected to be here this late in the season.

Ooltewah- supposedly they are very young and inexperienced

Smyrna- wouldn't be able to get past Riverdale

Ravenwood- lost TC Jennings and company and also got off to a rough start

White Station- I've heard their coach did a real good job of turning their program around so I guess that stands for something.

    What do yall think?

  10. Records do NOT matter in THIS game or ANY other game for that matter as long as the players for both teams come out believing they can win. Ooltewah could be 13-0, 12-1, 4-7, or 1-12. Smyrna could be 11-2, 12-1, 7-6, or 0-13. It doesn't matter. What matters is now, the present. Not then, the past or the future. It's about how you are gonna win NOW. A matchup vs. Ravenwood or White Station (by the way they are that 4th team in the semis that everyone has forgotten about) isn't even a possibilty until we beat Ooltewah. Last time I checked, Smyrna's name nor Ooltewah's name were penciled in to that slot for the state championship.

It's ok to make predictions. Heck, if we didn't, coacht wouldn't be much of a site to see. But if predict you must, predict with respect. In other words, you can predict a blowout, but don't disrespect the other team by sayin they don't work as hard or aren't as "classy" as you etc... because that can come back to bite you in the booty and it will sting alot worse than you think. Just ask a Riverdaler. ;)

    I BELIEVE

  11. Strength + Success Ranking

    DIVISION 1 - CLASS AAAAA

    1 Ooltewah 1.50

    2 Dobyns Bennett 1.43

    3 Riverdale 1.40

    4 Ridgeway 1.36

    5 White Station 1.36

    6 Smyrna 1.34

    Strength of Schedule Ranking

    DIVISION 1 - CLASS AAAAA

    38 Oak Ridge 50.21

    39 Ooltewah 50.09

    40 Smyrna 49.72

CoachT must disagree with that strenght of schedule

Question for a couple of you Smyrna fans. Why are you just now making a screenname on CoachT after the win again Riverdale?

Ooltewah is not big at all upfront. There has been only 2 teams Ooltewah has played all year that they are bigger than. Heritage/Bradley Central.

    Left Tackle - 6' 215

    Left Guard - 6' 240

    Center - 5'11 240

    Right Guard - 5'10 215

    Right Tackle - 6'3 265

    Tightend - 6'4 210

Ooltewah is not big upfront at all. However, they are very well coached and are very strong. Great line push for their team size. One of the pluses for Ooltewah's small size is their quickness. Their quickness compliments Marshall very well. Should be great football weather Friday. Can't wait to see this one.

Those rankings are not very credible at all! DB is still no. 2 and Ridgeway no. 4!? They're not even in the tourny anymore. Bump. :D

  12. smyrna=statechamps06 makes a good point. The toughest opponent Ooltewah has played is Farragut which the second time around did not have there starting QB I believe, thats a pretty easy schedule to get through in my opinion. However the Smyrna schedule was much harder. Keep in mind, the referees for the Ravenwood game are NOT allowed to ever ref at Smyrna again, thats how bad the refs were the night Ravenwood at Smyrna on Smyrna's Homecoming game. The game was horribly officiated with a Smyrna touchdown being called back and in the same drive 5 other penalties, this is not a joke. A flag was thrown on the Ravenwood side and they picked the flag up because they were "Throwing too many flags" Fortunately enough it was on Ravenwood ey? @.@ But anyways yeah Smyrna's Schedule was harder than Ooltewahs but we will see who is better Friday night.

Yea those calls were pretty whack! lol

  13. Underdogs when yall played us? Guess you didn't read the predictions in the DNJ On the Line.... Not to mention Cal Preps had yall beating us...... and in our Pick Em contest on here nearly everyone picked Smyrna....... So, exactly WHERE were yall considered the underdogs?

    Different posters on coacht

so are you saying that you aren't the caliber of team that Ooltewah is, and you are just on a lucky roll? George Mason should have been the underdog in the final 4, they were not near as good as the other teams that were there, is that what you are saying, that your team isn't near as good as Ooltewah?

Sorry if you misunderstood me. I meant that you can be in the final four and still be considered an underdog by people.

  14. Anybody in the semi's in on a roll.... Quit trying to play the underdog...

We can't help it. MOST people just hate us and want us to lose and we are stuck with that underdog status no matter who we play. Heck, we were even underdogs when we had to play Oakland and Lebanon because we had just lost to R'dale 49-0 and looked vulnerable but that is understandable to be considered vulnerable after getting blown out like that.

Remember back in the spring..... George Mason was still the underdog in the final four of the tourny after defeating North Carolina and #1 ranked UConn.

  15. Riverdale had 306 total yards of offense last week. Smyrna had 196 yards of total offense. The difference in the game is Riverdale fumbling in the redzone twice... Kudos to Smyrna though but I really wouldn't say holding Riverdale to 306 total yards stopping them...

Yea and fumbles are a part of the game of football. It's not like the wind blew the ball out of their hands. Smyrna's defense forced those fumbles. They earned those turnovers and Riverdale got what they deserved for not taking care of the football better.

  16. I dont think it would be accurate to consider a Week 0 game when talking about a team in the post season. I'm not just saying that because I'm an Owl fan. A lot has happened in 13 games. Kids grow up, coaches see what works and what doesn't. It can just be a totally different team!

One score that sticks out to me on Smyrna's schedule: Riverdale 49, Smyrna 0.

I know Smyrna won when it counted last week, but this shows there is an obvious vulnerability. I hope Coach Monroe can get the game film for that week from Riverdale! We need to do whatever they did! Haha!

49-0 is 49-0 no matter how you slice it...and it was later in the season. What in the world happened????? Seriously, I'm asking a serious question.

Like you said. Teams change over the season and Smyrna has changed dramatically since then.

Well than you'd have to learn the wing t in less than week. :thumb:

  17. What is all this talk about BJ Coleman? Last time I checked this was a Ooltewah vs. Smyrna forum and BJ doesn't play for either team.

Rodriguez Wilks is probably the best wide receiver in the state this year and has a ton of highlights, check out the film on this guy b/c it is unreal. However, Ooltewah will roll in this game by 10 or more, and I think more.

He's not just making plays as a WR. He makes plays as a DB and a kick returner.

  18. Thank you. What amazed me is how the Smyrna kids, a lot of them playing both ways, kept getting knocked down and then getting back in the game a couple of plays later... The Day kid was all over the place. He went down, appearing to be hurt, and then, a few plays later, he is back in and making the tackle again. I think Shadrake left one once or twice as well, only to come back in the game.....

There was no quit in the Riverdale kids either. They just ran out of time....

Yea Shadrake and Day are both 2 tough kids.

  19. Jeremy has thrown for 1600 yards with 15 tds in 12 games. He is a very smart qb with a better than average arm. He has great touch on the deep ball and is very accurate on the run. He has better speed than you would think. Jeremy is the 2nd best QB in the area in my opinion. As a starter he is 13-0... Not to shabby!

Marshall has rushed for 1710 yards in 13 games with 19 tds. He also has 300 yards receiving and 2 tds on the year. He is 5'6 150 pounds of solid TITANIUM. He is faster than everyone on the field "usually" and is one of the hardest little guys to bring down. It seems like he breaks a tackle on every attempt.

Sean Sanders is back-up running back and has 16 td's on the year. He is more of the power back while Marshall is the scat back. Sean just might be the fastest kids on Ooltewah's team with a full head of steam. Was clocked running 4.48 at Velocity electric timed.

Both fullbacks are big and strong. Kwan is 6'0 245 pounds and averages 7.8 yards per carry and has over 350 yards rushing. Darrell Turner is 6' 230 and is considered the hardest hitter on the Ooltewah team. He has hurt 3 out of the last 3 qb's while playing the defensive end position. Darrell is also the deep man on KO return.

Ooltewah defense is very physical. If you don't have a passing game then Ooltewah will win. If you do have a passing game you wil lhave to throw over 200+ yards because Ooltewah's offense has yet to be stopped.

Sounds like Symrna has a great team with great athletes. I can't wait for this game. Should be a barnburner!

Sonny has 1922 passing yards with 15 TD and 64% completion in 13 games and 10 rushing TD.

Our two RB Maceo Harris and Antoine Hendricks combined avg. 7.1 yds./carry with 22 TD. Antoine was out for 2 or 3 games this season with an ankle injury.

We do have a passing game and one of the best receivers (Rodriguez Wilks) and one of the most underrated receivers (Josh Crouch) in the state. Don't bother looking at Rod's stats though because they don't do him justice. He is constantly being double or triple teamed. We ain't no Riverdale. We have a passing game.
